Marking them now.  Devils Third looks good.  Why didn't Nintendo show that?  Must be the gore.

Yeah. Blood, gore, and a woman's ass. That wouldn't have really jived with the rest of their show.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

WAIT A MINUTE?!

Do you mean people actually --LIKED-- Nintendo's presentation...?!

Other than a brief glimpse of Zelda... WHY? HOW?

There was literally next to nothing new or interesting... and quite a few games were missing...

How did this show improve their position in any way whatsoever?!

Toad is a mildly annoying puzzle game. X looks worse than it did. Zelda was nothing at all other than a shot of an overworld... and it's cell-shaded... not at all like it was first shown... Yarn Yoshi we knew about and not many people cared for Kirby's Epic Yarn here... Don't know many of us that care about Kirby... That Squid game looks god-awful...

I don't get it.

Um. Fuck. Yes...?

Aonuma says we didn't necessarily see Link in the Legend of Zelda Wii U trailer

The following comes from Mr. Aonuma when he was asked why Link looked so different in the debut Legend of Zelda Wii U trailer.

“No one explicitly said that that was Link.”

This new Zelda does nothing for me. I think the only Zelda game that would interest me at this point would be if they were to make a direct sequel to the original LOZ, using the same NES graphics and music/sounds, but making the world and dungeons much larger. Same difficulty as the original too!

Seriously lacking context here.  For all we know, the actual question was: "why does the new zelda trailer look so different from the one we saw before the WiiU launched?"  To which the answer might imply that the first was just a tech demo, not an actual Zelda game.

Devil's Third should have been shown at Nintendo's event....did they at least have a big showing for it on the floor? I hope so, because that looks awesome. Classic Itagaki.

Devil's Third looks so awful. Maybe in a good way, I'm not sure.

That's kind of how I'm seeing it. It looks bad, but there is something entertainingly bad about it. It stays on my watch list for now.

I'm impressed as hell. Lots of stuff got fleshed out, and a couple new surprises are there too. Surprised we didn't see Pokemon x SMT. Until another year goes by though, its probably too soon to hit the Last Guardian panic button. No Metroid wasn't much of a surprise.... and I just don't care.

I think Sony still gets the nod overall, but I really did love this show. Makes me think that other big publishers need to handle it this way too. There was so much fat and crap in the other shows. This was just games, games, games (and a 3 minute segment about toys). It was all well produced and there was bloat. It makes it a lot easier to stay excited when you don't end up yawning for a 30 minute segment.

Agree with almost everything except X which looks amazing. Captain Toad LOL, love it, but gamers who haven't played 3D World might not get why it's going to be great.

On the Zelda graphics downgrade, there wont be one, they don't downgrade, if anything games get better looking, remember Mario 3D World. Also agree Sony had the best showing, but it's hard for Nintendo with zero third party support to match up. If you were to just compare first party vs first party, they did all right.

They had an IGN panel live demo and a gamespot one.

I read the GAF thread before I saw the gameplay footage. The trailer looks good but everyone was saying how awful the demo was and I don't see it. It's definetly unpolished and somewhat janky in its current form. But when they iron out the transitions and framerate etc I can't see it as being awful by any measure.

I'd give Nintendo the edge because of the Zelda and X bits.  What the hell kind of reveal was that at the end f the show?  Who was waiting on that?

What do you mean?  Palumina?  Personally I couldn't care less about another Smash character.  I was hoping it was going to be a hotly anticipated new game like, you know, Metroid etc

Yeah, that's what I meant.  We are usually led to believe that the biggest surprise is held off until the end and...nothing.

I kind of like the look of TD3.  Kind of like a Suda game with more detailed drawings/designs.  I am secretly hoping the Wii U will become the home of B-list Japanese games like this by developers without the kind of marketing budget that will allow them to tough it out with the big boys on PS4/XB1

It has a No More Heroes vibe going for it and at first glance looks more like a Suda51 game than the actual Suda51 game Let It Die.

Nice dream on what kind of games should be on the Wii U. Unfortunately it didn't happen on the Wii so I don't see it happening now. But who knows? If Bayonetta ends up being a hit it could change things up. Nintendo is definitely making a strong play for action games. Hopefully the audience responds.

Didn't Kamiya say he wanted to do Starfox? Nintendo is looking for development partners and Bayonetta 2 is almost done. Perfect fit?
