This is the most enjoyable game I've played in years, so I am savoring it and taking my time!
That's one of the reasons I want to wait to get this. Maybe September or October and really savor this.
If you follow the strategy I laid out for you before, you should beat him. It's not easy, but it's not impossible!
TV Dinnah!
But truthfully, I can't even find the guy! I see TV's, I see neon lights, but I can't seem to find a way to the kingdom!

The last King I fought, Champloo, undid a bunch of work I did on my troops and it kinda pissed me off. I was going to post this as a strategy tip, and it will still work, but expect to have to tailor it again after you fight the King of New Island:
--Basically, you don't start with enough citizens to be picky and choosy about who's a Knight and who's a Farmer, so you just kinda assign jobs in the beginning. After a while though, you'll notice some of your Farmers have 9 health while some of your Knights have 7, for example. Not good when you are sending your Knights into battle; they are getting killed and your Farmers are hanging back. When you amass enough funds (and later in the game it won't be a problem) convert your troops back into Carefree Citizens (by throwing them at the 'Frowning Sun' sign located by your Castle). Then, go into the Citizen List and sort it by Life. Obviously, pick the highest life citizens to be your Knights and then assign roles to the Cits with less life as appropriate! TRUST ME, this makes a HUGE difference!
--Also, don't forget to re-assign any Treasures they may have equipped. You are going to want to assign job-appropriate Treasures once you adjust your troops. Be sure to equip all of the 'stunning' weapons, like the Cupid's Bow and the Pillow. Stunning your enemies gives you juuust enough time to kill the bastards before they revive! Makes the Quests and the Guardians A LOT easier!
It was a Cool, Evolving-Boss, Multi-Part Battle, involving a HUGE Garbage Monster/Snowman... THAT took several tries ('bout an hour!)... THANKFULLY, there is a Hot Spring in the Arena with the King... It's the strategic use of waiting to the last minute to use the spring, while killing the Onii that are trying to Heal the King, while avoiding the multitudinal attacks, that made it fun and different!

...and Yes, practically EVERY King has a different way of defeating Him! One is Pinball. One is a Battle. One is Ninja Warrior-like Obstacle Course Climb. Another is a Quiz.
--VERY COOL!

YEah finally beat him. Thanks for that guardian tip, I didn't even realise. It was tough but oh so satisfying to beat him. Where should I be going next?
I love the Onii's, there are so many variations, I saw some having a picnic before I smashed em. And then there was one throwing Molotovs!
I think I'm about to face off with the party king.
I ordered this from Zavvi yesterday along with a bunch of other games.
Postage wasn't free, though. I hate it when they say it is, but it isn't. -_-

it's free in the uk. you can't expect them to have free shipping worldwide. they charge me 1 quid per item for european postage which is fair enough

Yeah, but they should actaully state that somewhere BEFORE you're checking out. I looked in postage cause I thought it probably wouldn't be, but there was nothing there. Their postage is a hell of a lot more expensive than places like 365games as well that have free UK shipping. Though to be fair their European postage is expesnive.
I just beat my 3rd king. Duvroc the drunken guy. He was EASY as pie. I think I was suppossed to fight him before Shiskeboo the pinball guy, so by the time I faced Duvroc I had endured Shishkeboo and powered up my guys by then.
They upgraded my castle OMG
It's amazing, I also purchased the arcade place in farmland. I spent 40 minutes just walking around exploring the castle and watching the game, its delightful animations and colours, talking to my 3 princess harem.
The castle is so beautiful now, there is even shelter for Pancho the cow and his friends. Is this the last upgrade to the castle? It has to be, its so grand.
And then there was this cutscene and the guy asked to build an airship, I voted yes, but the other guys voted me down. As the king I wanted to tell the other guys to STFU but no....
So what happens if I said no?
Then this family of tornado guys showed up on the bridge? Whats going on there? I can look forward to storms now? Anyhow I got the merchants so I can open purses, but even though I must have spotted several purses by now I cannot remember where they are. Is there any mark on the map or easy way of finding out?
I'm going to go through the tunnel and see whats on the other side of that bony tunnel thing.
Awesome game. I'm 12 hrs in.
Beware of Fire Breathing Onii that scorch the ground, Packs of wandering Dragon Delivery Services, and the Undead Dragon (the 2nd hardest Dragon in the game)!
It is the crossroads to three other kingdoms so expect to spend a lot of time there!
Just make sure you find the Cow Cannon quickly, bring a Gourmet Chef or two, and don't spend too much time pondering the Giant Eggs laying around, or the Unbreakable TV sets, you'll get citizens from other kingdoms later on that can smash those puppies!
Have Fun!
I made it through the fire bits, so inventive. But I just cleared the obstacles and saved it. Found no cannon. I dont know which crossroad to take. I want to go for the easiest one to the hardest one in that order and not jump into anything too difficult.
I lost a man last night, usually they show up at the beach, but this time he really croaked. I wandered about the beach all sad and lost
I really need to work out how to have babies for more citizens. I know you are suppossed to take two people who are in love but it has never worked out. Only once did the game tell me who was in love and even then when I took them to the church nothing happened. WTH am I suppossed to do?

I never thought of that: If they're all hanging out with you, they'll never hook up...
As for the lost soldier: You better have attended the funeral behind the church or your Royal Guard will get pissed at you!
Speaking of your Royal Guard, THEY are the ones who most often fall in love with each other. Just send everyone in the church, like you would a hot spring, and the ones who are in love will marry and have a kid.

Oh shit I never knew there was a funeral behind the church. I thought it was in the church, I went in and no one was there.
You can just throw people into the church? I thought if I walked in with them following it would work. Crap, why does the game not tell you these things?
robio said:You know I really wish I could like this game. I do. I've tried putting it in a few times, but each time. . . meh. Just doesn't do it for me. I think I may have to go ahead and sell it and let some hobo gourmet get their hands on it at a reduced price.
Why dont you like it? Try setting it to easy, if the game is too hard for you.
