I just realized that this is coming out this year, and was first announced at Quakecon 2007.  Is that why most don't care? Because it's been four years in the coming? Or is it because Doom3 was underwhelming (to some, not me).

Does id carry any cache any more?  Are you interested in RAGE?

Vaguely interested because of the setting.  I like the sun-drenched wide open locals and the big skies.  Not one of my favourite genres though so I'm not soiling my pants yet

Yeah Doom 3 made me weary then I saw Rage in light of Fallout as in another post apocalypse. Then the game seemed to be in development forever.

Ultimately, I am afraid that the gaming media will go apeshit because of the graphics and forget about the gameplay like in Doom 3. I want Rage to be good, but I want good, varied gameplay and more mechanics than just point and shoot, like in Black you have to use shotguns to blow doors off, that sort of thing.

I'm with GG. Not really expecting much from it. It looks good, though.

Oh I'm still very interested in this game myself. The most recent videos of it looked awesome. I'm definitely picking it up. I really enjoyed Doom 3 as well.

It looks good but its just a FPS and those aren't always my favorite. Plus I really dont like the setting.

So a lot of your really aren't looking forward to it.

I don't really care about the look or the setting, it's neutral to me.  The main point of interest is that this is not your typical id setting, instead of corridors it's open levels -- and apparently vehicles play a big role, which is another deviation for id.

I'm wondering if it NOT being a military shooter has anything to do with it (along with younger gamers not really having any respect for the id brand).

I'm probably going to get it. Maybe even around release. I've always enjoyed id Software's games including Doom 3.

I'll get it...at a low price.

TBH it has been in development for so long that I actually forgot why was I looking forward to it. I know next to nothing about either its setting or mechanics and the only thing I remember about it is that it looks good.

I guess the fact that it's from the makers of the Doom franchise has to count for something. But then again, I never liked Doom (any of them) in the first place.

Seeing id's new engine holds my interest greatly. I think it was last years E3 Game of the Show? Mostly because of the graphics, but so much has happened in the last year you wonder if even technical ability will be enough to garner interest by the time it is released.

I want ID to make a new Doom game in the old style. So much better than what we have now. Nyaa

Well, they have the level editors, I know that there is a pretty active scene for making new old Doom games.

I used to fucking LOVE making Doom and Doom 2 levels (heh .wad files)...

Man, I wish I had that kind of time still.
