Yeah a bit heavy on the gifs but so worth it. Will put a warning.
Wait, maybe it's because my internet cannot handle the thread!

I turned images off before opening the thread. Sad, but true.
God of War was one of the very best games of the last generation. I can't wait to see what 3 will be like.
Guy in charge of Uncharted 2 tweeted that.
David Jaffe was the farther of the first game. Then that other guy took over, and got fired unceremoniously. The first was amazing, the second was an extention of the first, and surpassed it in many ways.
I was not expecting much from this one because they got down to the art director of the first game to head it up... but apparently this is pretty good. I'm going to be eager to see how it measures up against Uncharted2 in terms of how it uses the PS3.
They should rename this as EPIC GAME 3
It looks like the 300 movie, only they've made everything bigger. I want to see planet sized bosses in number 4.
Damned, I hate when the reviews get given to a bunch Official mags first.

Yeah I'm hard pressed to think of a new IP that I enjoyed more than God of War during the last gen. Maybe Kingdom Hearts, but I know that's largely because I'm a Disney geek.
I'd just like to take a moment and say fuck you to all of you who get to play this. I hate you all.
Yes it's definitely time to get myself a PS3, well actually it's been time for quite awhile now but now that it's $299 and Income tax is rolling around me thinks I'll be getting the system and this game in about a month's time.

Destructoid:
Without
question, God of War III sets the new gold standard for action games,
clearing and then raising the near-impossible bar that was set by its
previous installments. For many years to come, this will be the game by
which all others in the genre are compared, and I suspect we won't see
anything like it for quite some time. If God of War III was the reason
you bought a PS3, your purchase has been justify and then some. If
you're looking to show off the power of your console, this is your new
showcase -- it's an experience that simply can't be missed.
Score: 10 -- Flawless Victory (10s are as close to perfect as you will
get in a genre or on a platform. Pure, untarnished videogame ecstasy.)
G4:
The game never settles into a reliable rhythm, since the type of gameplay that awaits around every corner is built to surprise; boss battles especially do not always arrive to conclude a level and may turn out to be the level itself. Camera movements in battle sequences may reveal a larger danger than was initially implied. The delicious fun in the game's design gives it a thrust that has little equal out there. While it's sizeable -- and demands to be played more than once-- time flew by as I found myself trapped in one of the most satisfying feedback loops of visceral pleasure that videogames have to offer. GOW III is an achievement on all levels. It immediately becomes the standard-bearer for the genre and a monumental conclusion to the series.
Kotaku:
The First 10 Minutes: The first minutes of Half-Life 2 intrigue. The first minutes of Super Metroid unnerve. The first minutes of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Bros. may represent two facets of perfect fun. The opening playable sequence of God of War III is equally wowing, perhaps the most impressive controlled combat sequence to ever start a game. Extraordinarily, this sequence, worth experiencing fresh if you haven't heard about it already, is surpassed later in the game.
IGN:
God
of War III is a great end to Kratos' console trilogy. It's not perfect,
with some uneven storytelling and progression here and there, but it's
still a fantastic overall package. The combat is stellar once again,
it's bloodier than ever, and it is at times the best looking game ever
released. I still think God of War II is the best in the trilogy, but
Sony Santa Monica did a great job closing up Kratos' journey for
revenge.
1up:
In the past, I've referred to God of War 1 as having the best story in the franchise, and God of War 2 as the best on the combat side. Along those lines, God of War 3 is the most balanced. It's not quite as focused as GOW1, nor is it as lengthy and moment-packed as GOW2, but it's the most consistent and varied of the three, and when it's at its best the first two can't touch it.
You can undoubtedly find little details to complain about in God of War 3 (you can't skip cut-scenes even on a second playthrough, for instance, presumably to mask load times). But given how well everything fits together, how all of the items and weapons feel useful, how the Titan fights are some of the most impressive battles ever seen in games, how the animation and camera angles make the cut-scenes better than you see in most movies, how the combat grapple works incredibly well, and how the visuals almost make it worth playing on their own, I'm not really sure how much that kind of thing matters.
I was waiting for this. Looks like it got really good reviews.
Were there any sticking points that were criticised?

Too much like GoW2. Maybe even a bit less variety and puzzles than GoW2.

What you don't believe me, you don't think this game will melt your eyeballs, you don't think it will be so epic that they will need to find a new word to describe it.
Fine this is for you:
Some preview impressions:
"Basically, the first 30 minutes I played was perfect. Absolutely perfect. The graphics were jaw-dropping; the gameplay was solid and already addictive; and there were more "holy sh*t!" moments in the opening sequence than some games have in their entireties.
Obviously I recommend God of War III to anyone who owns a PlayStation 3. If you own a PS3, there is no excuse to not pick this up when it is released on March 16th. Heck, even if you don't own a PS3, get the game anyway! I bet even holding the box would be a cool experience.
Even though I only got to play the first 30 minutes of the game, I can say with confidence that God of War III is going to offer an unforgettable experience -- easily one of the best this generation.
You are not ready." - Destructoid
"Also, yes, just to reassure everyone, the first half hour or so of the game pales in comparison to the next. It's a perfect set-up for the pacing and tone of things, but you honestly haven't seen anything yet. I was violently ill this weekend (I'm still pretty sick, honestly), but I couldn't stop playing the game until I was done. I'll have to go back through it again when I'm not goofed up on cold medicine and a fever, but... yeah, you guys haven't seen anything yet." - found on gaf
