An Open Letter to The VG Press

You deserve a pat on the back for this site. It's a good site, and one of my favorites these days. Certainly my favorite gaming site at any rate. Possibly the only gaming site that practically invites dick jokes that DON'T include Wii puns.
Well, I hope whatever you lined up for tomorrow goes well (unless it's a massive suicide bombing).

Are you getting married? It's not as scary as it sounds, so Pinky tells me.
Not until the wedding night when SteelAttack disrobed.

No.
And this post is about expressing what this place is to me, and not the ins-and-outs of my day-to-day life.

^ Yes, they're on top, but THIS is the Canadian Army, so I don't think we have to worry all that much...

What an awesome blog and thank you for everything. It is a pleasure to actually talk to you each week on the podcast. I hope everything went well for you and even if it didn't know that we are here acting like idiots as usual.
I picture Alaska like a tiny man desperately dryhumping a big ass.
Really? Cause I see Alaska, Canada and the US as one massive man-train!

It's been a year and a half since we started here. The VG Press has been different things for different people. For many of you, I would suspect, it's a friendly and fun place to gather; a haven of good community in a world of Youtube comments and Yahoo Answers.
For myself, I have a slightly unique perspective, as my role has been a bit different, if only by necessity. For nearly half my life I've worked away on projects such as this site, with varying degrees of success. The goal has never been notoriety or profit, but to provide others a service and be in the privileged position to see the pleasure it brings them.
In this regard, being able to do something I enjoy doing and see day in and day out the discussion, jokes and stupid fun is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. It's a bit of a cliché to say that doing something is its own reward, but that's what this is. The VG Press is its own reward, and I'll be doing my best to make it better as we move forward.
As you've also seen, I've been up and down, with just recently hitting an unexpected upswing. There's been a lot going on these past few months, and I'm sure more of the same in the future. I don't know how long it'll last, but I'm glad for the past week of feeling...well, just feeling at all, again.
Tomorrow is going to be a very important day for me, one way or the other, and I'm not sure exactly what the future will hold the days following.
Whether down or up, hopeful or helpless, I'll always have a bit of strength. This is a home to me, in more ways than one, and I'm thankful of every day I have here, and every one of you to be here with me.
