Let's just say I have been prevented from doing almost all those things due to more important and pressing matters. Some are still possible. My survival has been achievement enough. Knowing how things were going, I reckon I probably should have just added that to the list: survive the year. Nyaa

Oh crap, the year isn't finished, so maybe it's for the best I didn't...

I hope you are not seriously ill. I note when I edit the podcast you cough a lot. Sad

We just finished a recording too, we could have used you homey.

Lol, as you may have heard on a previous podcast (the interview) that is indeed the case, though I am in no danger of dying. Nyaa And technically the problems while related, are outside of that. The coughing would be due to asthma, or over the past year or so, a chronic chest infection which has been part of the problem; not just in itself, but dealing with doctors who apparently don't understand serious illness, and find it confronting.

Perhaps they should have considered a different profession if they were upset by sick people? But it would seem that's not the case, in fact the majority of doctors don't want anything to do with people that are actually sick, it would seem, but in some ways that's better than dealing with incompotent ones that have no understanding of serious illness, and do not take things seriously as a result of their ignorance and distress. At least they don't waste your time, money and energy. (Which are all quite precious commodities!)*

And yeah, sorry about having been pretty erratic with podcast attendance over the last year or so. Things seem to be falling into place somewhat now, so unless another catastrophe comes about, next year I should be more consistent. Now if only we had some people to listen to them! Nyaa

/end rant

*By majority I mean, the majority of doctors I and my family have had interaction with, so no offence Steel! Happy

Foolz, i'm sorry you've been poorly bro.  Hope your condition improves vastly very soon.

This thread makes me even more depressed than I have been over the last week.  2010 at best will have been a complete write-off for me and by the time it's all said and done who knows what other fuck-up i may be faced with.

The only good thing I did for myself which was not really by design so it was never a resolution, was that I gave up the booze.  I was a very heavy drinker, and I haven't had a drink since January.  A year ago I wouldn't have thought this was possible, but then again a year ago I wouldn't have thought about many other things which have happened.

So yeah between emotional turmoil and huge financial losses (relative to my income) this has not been a good year at all.  And the full reckoning is not yet done...

But maybe I should also count my blessings.  I'm still alive, I have friends who care.  It could be worse.  It could be a lot worse

Bugs, sometimes it's good to get a whole lot of shit in a year so you can write it off.  I was fired and divorced in a 2 week period once.  I don't look back on that year very kindly.

Not drinking can be a real eye-opener. I stopped for over a year once on a whim. This year I've done it fora few months as well.  Opens up all sorts of extra time.

Foolz, I hope you get some breakthrough with your health.

Thank you brother.  That sounds like a nightmare of a fortnight you had then.  Glad you could put it behind you and look forward.

Yes, I enjoy not drinking more than I miss the drunken "good times".  It helps me a great deal to turn up at work without a hangover and like you said , I seem to have a lot of previously lost hours (or days) in my hands now which can be a nice feeling and opens up a few opportunities

This year sucks. My beloved cat passed away.

My Christmas is ruined and I have no pension.

Plus my brother goes to see the inlaws at christmas rather than spend it with his own family

My turn to see how many resolutions I kept. So let's get started, results are in red for failure or pending and green is success

Iga_Bobovic said:

The VG Press Blog Resolutions

  • Finishing my New York travel blog. Yeah I know it is way past time, but I do not like unfinished things
    • Not going to happen. Did have some time, tried to find some pictures and could not find them. Too bad, you will never see me trash the very foundations of American society.
  • Getting back to the ninja blogs. Takamatsu Sensei is first
    • This will happen, maybe not in 2010, but it shall come
  • Making a catch wrestling blog
    • Same, maybe not 2010
  • Making a Minowaman blog
    • The sexy giant slayer will get some honour

The VG Press Threads Resolution

  • Continue the MMA blog even if there is only one guy watching it
    • I am hardly watching MMA today. I can't be bothered anymore. There is no way for me to watch the fights live, and even the next day, I usually can't find movies forcing me to read the results. Can't be bothered to do anything about the MMA thread either
  • Trying to get more discussion in the VG Press movie thread
    • This actually succeeded.
  • Explaining the Large Hadron Collider in the Universe Thread
    • This will come, once I can be arsed to. Or Bugsy get off his lazy ass and do it himself.
  • Making a new best ever threads in the off topic. What it is about is a surprise for now.
    • Oh this will be epic.

The VG Press GG Weekly Resolutions

  • Getting 10,000 news post and bragging about it.
    • Was almost there, but work and playing games got in the way. GG actually made 10,000, so now I am not interested anymore.

Work Resolutions

  • Getting a job that is fun and fulfilling
    • Will get to this later
  • Using the money to repay my student debts and buying games of course
    • I can pay off all my student depths right now, will do it in December.

Gaming Resolutions

  • Keep being the King of Hobo's
    • Damn straight, have not bought a single game at full price with the exception of Sin & Punishment 2
  • Building my own gaming PC and being a snob about it
    • I am busy enough as it is, maybe next year
  • Playing games
    • Did plenty of this

Ninpo Resolutions

  • Getting my flexibility and gas tank back
    • Flexibility is improved but not where it should be, gas tank is back and growing
  • Doing Jissenjutsu, which is the fight part of my martial art. So more sparring, more training
    • Yep, doing jissen now and spar a lot more. S
  • Going back to 3 times a week training and improving my rank
    • I now train 3 times a week and will be improving my rank eventually
  • Improving my hands, I think I must be more aggressive especially with my hands instead of backing up all the time.
    • Yep, biggest improvement I made. I know now how to attack without being hit by counter attacks, also keep pushing the pace and going for the body shots.
  • Improving my throws, take down defence and balance. So that Judo guy will not drop me that easily
    • I have been tripping and sweeping fools the whole year, best feeling in the world
  • Getting back to meditation. Have not done that for a while
    • Also done this. I meditate twice a day almost each day. It helps a lot.

Hobby Resolutions

  • Learn more about cooking
    • Did very little, some cutting of vegetables and preparing meat, have not done much else because of time constraints.
  • Start operation "Museum" and operation "Wanderer". I will tell you later what it is about, or maybe not.
    • Have not visited as many museums as I should, did some nice wandering around my city. Know it a lot better now.

So looking at the results you can easily see where my priorities are. Ninpo and then playing games. After that VG Press and finally work. About the subject of work.

Well, the first few months were fun. I had this feeling in my head that it was not really what I wanted to do, but hey it is fun, so I suppressed these doubts. But after few months my assignments were getting lousier and lousier. It was straight out boring, I had to practically beg to get some work, because I was not doing anything. Eventually they gave me some retarded boring ass work that has no value what so ever. Every time I had an assignment I took it slowly, because if I was done I had to do the boring trite again.

Then after doing a assignment that I had take my work at home, so I could get it done before the dead line, the manager straight out said to me that they will not lengthen my contract. So after one year I have to find another job. So I asked the reason, but he gave me nothing concrete, so he invited a team leader and he said that the job was just not suited for me. My BS meter was going in overdrive, they were not straight with me, but whatever. So I asked them what they thought would be a suitable job for me. They did not give a satisfactory answer, as expected. I asked, because they won't lengthen my contract, if they will just give me some crappy jobs. They said no, they shall give me the same assignments as people that will stay at the company. Needless to say, my BS detector almost blew up. But I did not say anything, because I already has a overdose of Bullshit for a day.

Well after that the work grew even more boring. I was just going through the motions, but I shall not quite. I will finish the year, for that is how I roll. Every day I worked, the more I realized that I did not want to work there anymore. Seriously even if they changed their minds, I would tell them to take a hike. Lately, they send me away to another floor to do 3D drawing. This I liked, because this will be actually useful in my future career. So my work is not as fun anymore at least now I am learning how to draw in 3D. Also I had plenty of talks with other companies. So I will be fine.

That sucks Iga.  But there is a lot of upside (you are getting paid and can look for other jobs without worryign about money).  Sounds like a dysfunctional company.

Yes, I am honing my Inventor skills. I already had some experience, but never as much as this. So I am learning as much as I can.

And to make things clear, I am not angry at the company for letting me go. I have a contract for one year, so the chance that I would not work there after January was always on my mind. I also understand that they will not give me important assignments anymore, because they have lost the trust in me. I only wish they gave me something worthwhile to do. They finally did, with the 3D drawings, but it was not intentional. Some one else was supposed to do it, but he refused. Also wish they were more straight with me about the reasons. Sure I can't work there anymore, but at least give me some concrete reasons. But in the long run, I would not make a lasting career over there, the work itself is not really my thing. So it is better that I leave after one year than stay for more years just to improve my résumé.

The company is fine for the most part, they do not pay much, but the atmosphere is awesome. They do suck at letting people go. A good friend of mine was recently canned, I only found out, when asking where he was. You have a guy one day and then suddenly he is gone, no explanations at all. Seriously retarded, at least let other people know before hand, so they can say good bye.

No the Laptop was a 3D drawing kind of laptop. If I had done it on purpose, I would have spilled it on my own laptop.

Guys, don't feel bad, this happened back in July/August. It is a done case. I know this job is not really suited for me, I accepted that quickly. The problem is too find a job that is suited for me, and apparently doing nothing does not count. I am still figuring out what my next career step should be. Have some ideas, but no rush. Money is not a problem.
