Getting to 1,000 news posts and being pleased, then realising I've got only a tenth of what you do.
Gaming:
Building the computer that has been sitting here for almost a year now and hoping that the warranty hasn't broken and that everything is in order.
General:
Beating a fucking elecrical repairs company until one of them agrees to do the damn work required so that the house has enough power to power the new computer and monitor.
Writing:
Write a novel without a basic premise conceived before the time of writing. It's been done once before and the result was actually pretty good. Then i started to have ideas damn it.
Internet:
Stop procrastinating and change my Christmas regalia.
VGpres2
And also find the time to read the epic new year blogs you'll be posting eventually. If you ever complete any of your resolutions it better be those two!
VGpress2
Make sure i don't accidentally delete anyone else's posts. I've already come close to doing it a few times!
Piano
Complete Suzuki book 1 and maybe even 2. The former should easily be done, so should the second. Just depends on how much time and energy my sister has for teaching.
Guitar
Rebegin guitar learning. This time without fingernails. Stupid piano.
German
Rebegin German learning. This time without a teacher. Stupid teacher.
And yes I did just come up with those on the spot!
Read more books. I tend to get caught up in teh internetz and videogames, and forget to read books! It doesn't help that they're around $9 each now either. I think reading one 400-500 page book per week would be a nice start. It's not nearly as much I used to read, though; I used to read a book every two days, but school, internet and general laziness has gotten in the way of that, and I miss it.
Spend less time on teh internetz. I spend too many hours per day surfing instead of doing other things because I am lazy, and probably addicted. Perhaps I should reduce my internet time down to only 1 hour per day? I'll have to think about that more.
There are some things that will get done this year, like I want to put in a running track. I beat 26 games this year, I'd like to get that up to 36. I'd also like to get down to seven minute miles consistently (over a 4 mile distance).
And be a better human to those I know, but more of a hermit to those I don't.
Shit, I'd like to start working out. Maybe take some boxing lessons.
- Education:
- Complete two of my four remaining final year courses (for my part-time degree). "Natural and Artificial Intelligence" and "Groups and Geometry" and do at least half-decent in them
- Start thinking about MPhil/Phd applications.
- Learn a new language, or two. Have to get serious about my German to get to a point where I can communicate without needing to fall back to mixing in english words. Do some more work on my Spanish so I can be comfortable with say having a holiday in Spain or another Spanish speaking country
- Read more books. Especially haiku
- Music:
- Buy more vinyl.
- Improve my mixing skills
- Learn at least how to make basic use of Abbleton Live or another good music software kit
- Piss about with production (using aforementioned software)
- Start to learn how to play the classical piano (with a view to it helping me with my dub and techno)
- Buy an electronic piano
- Buy a decent synthesizer/midi controller
- Experiment with making field recordings
- Get more dj slots
- Organise more parties
- Get back together a punk trio to have fun from time to time
- Games:
- Buy fewer. In fact buy very few
- Play all the games I buy. Or at least half of them
- Stay clean from Animal Crossing
- Get together a group of friends for regular rock band fun.
- Art:
- Make at least one stencil a month
- Organise my thousands of digital pictures
- Put together a collection of my crane photography from around the world and perhaps (if i get enough help from a friend) print a bunch for a little exhibition
- Health:
- Eat less and lose weight
- Work out regularly to prove the bastard doctors i am not in the early stages of ME
- Get serious about jiujitsu training (though this doesn't look easy due to time constraints)
- Try to play five-a-side footie at least once a week
- Drink less (yeah right!)
- Work:
- Have more patience
- Get less and less involved
- Don't answer back
- Don't give a shit
My life does and always will suck. So I have no resolutions.
Maybe to die in a blaze of glory.

I'm not sure if that's funny or depressing, but it is sig worthy.

WTF?! You are Mexican. Why not practise Lucha Libre? That will definitely give you a work out. I even have a Luchador name for you. Fedro Emmanuel.

It's both.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileI only have two resolutions.
1. Work out
2. Cooking for fun
So far the working out is going not so well. I've got a fairly intense Wii Fit work-out routine. More of the yoga and weight training, and not so much snowball fighting and skiing. First couple times I did it though there was so soreness the next day. Unfortunately I've slacked a lot over the weekend. So time will tell if I can keep it up.
This is probably the one thing I miss about not living in an apartment - free access to a nice gym. I just don't have any real good weight equipment so I'm kind of limited. Oh well we'll see.
And then as far as the cooking goes so far I've done really well there. I made some really good sweet potato fries for my party and over the weekend I made a tres leche cake which is hard as hell to make, but actually turned out pretty well.
SteelAttack said:Robio, do you cook naked?
Nope. Got to keep the junk protected just in case some grease splatters. My cooking is done in at least a banana hammock.
Well, how is everyone going with their resolutions?

My goal was 26 games, I am currently at 47. I did not install a running track, instead I run when I am in the city. I am certainly more of a hermit.
My 7 minute mile goal was ridiculous. I am now consistently under 8 minutes, but there is no way I can get to 7. Maybe 7:20 over 4 miles.
1) Buy fewer games? Check. If I remember correctly, I have only purchased three games this year: Tomb Raider Underworld, Red Steel 2, and Midway Arcade Treasures. I returned Midway Arcade, so I only bought 2 games this year.
2) Reduce my backlog? Check. I have finished several backlogged games like Luigi's Mansion and Legend of Zelda, and sold off most of the rest (which probably doesn't count, but I cares not!).
3) Read more books? Failed. I haven't read anywhere near a book-per-week.
4). Spend less time on teh internetz? Failed. I am addicted.
Let's just say I have been prevented from doing almost all those things due to more important and pressing matters. Some are still possible. My survival has been achievement enough. Knowing how things were going, I reckon I probably should have just added that to the list: survive the year.
Oh crap, the year isn't finished, so maybe it's for the best I didn't...
Since 2010 started well for the VG Press, (note the sarcasm) I was wondering what your New Year's resolutions are. I am curious about your personal, hobby, gaming resolutions.
I usually do not do New Year resolutions, but I have some plans and it is New Year, so....
Here they are
The VG Press Blog Resolutions
The VG Press Threads Resolution
The VG Press GG Weekly Resolutions
Work Resolutions
Gaming Resolutions
Ninpo Resolutions
Hobby Resolutions
Well, I will probably not even get half of those, but who perhaps by writing them down it will motivate me more. In 2011 I will check how many I have fulfilled.
