You are going to love 4.
Captain Toad is done.
Fun game full of charm, but I actually think it drags on a bit too long for what it is. I found myself just wanting to get it done in the last chapter. Very cool laid back game though. 7.8 Rating.
Great, even my placeholder post is on the second page. It's fitting for the meagre number of games I will complete!
01. Bit Trip. Runner 2 (Wii U - download). Finished 18 Jan
Really fun and addictive game. Thoroughly enjoyed it and may go back to play some more, to try to get perfects, improve scores, pickup last couple of chests or play the retro levels. Lots of content for a downloadable game.
02. South Park: The Stick of Truth (PS3) . Finished 24 May
Good game. RPG lite gameplay in the vein of Mario RPGs. Excellent use of the license, very funny. Except for the censored bits. That was not funny.
03. Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush (WiiU). Finished 5 June
Sweet game. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Bit short, but I'm short on gaming time so that's not too bad.
04. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS3). Finished 1 July
Don't know what to make of this game. I loved it and hated it in equal measures.
05. Yoshi's Woolly World (WiiU). Finished 9 July
Great game. Lots of fun to play and a true joy to behold! Recommended to all. Especially to those with little ones at home!
06. Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat (Wii). Finished 14 July
Excellent platformer. Loved it.
07. Dead Space: Extraction (Wii). Finished 22 July
Awesome on-rails shooter. So intense. Fuckin loved it.
08. Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS). Finished 22 July
Pfft, what the fuck is this shit? Seriously.
09. Prince of Persian: The Forgotten Sands (Wii). Finished 25 July
Fun game for the most part.
10. Kirby's Epic Yarn (Wii). Finished 26 July
Gorgeous game. Lovely game. Fun game. I love it so much.
11. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii). Finished 31 July
Widely praised upon release eight years ago as one of the finest games ever made. Who am I to argue?
12. Kororinpa (Wii). Finished 31 July
Fun little game. Bit on the short side but very addictive and enjoyable while it lasts.
13. Pandora's Tower. Finished 6 August
Simply one of the greatest games I have ever played and one I will hold dear forever.
14. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (3DS). Finished 9 September
Wonderful game and so beautiful to look at on the 3DS. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Very pleased this game was made.
15. New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS). Finished 1 October
Not a terrible game but easily the poorest Super Mario platformer I have ever played,
16. Mighty Switch Force 2 (Wii U). Finished 25 December
Woot! Managed another one before the year's end. Awesome game. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Great fun and more of what I enjoyed in the original game. Don't understand why this was not all that well received. It's a great game.
17. Thomas Was Alone (Wii U). Finished 26 December
Sweet little game. Enjoyed the concept and the aesthetics. As well as the abstruction and the subtraction. I love seeing these forms of expression in gaming. I think it elevates the medium.
Updated with Justice for All.
Updated with Bayonetta.
Really great action game. Can probably get a bit too nuts for its own good at times, but the pacing and fluidness of the gameplay is better than any Devil May Cry. And yeah, I'd rather play as a smokin' hot witch than some dude who looks like he wants to join Fallout Boy.
8.7 rating.
Updated with Ninja Gaiden 2.....damn its nice having a ton of games to finish that I was already halfway through.
I remember this game getting a lot of whining about it, and I don't see the issue at all. It looks and plays almost EXACTLY like the original...a true sequel. Sure, its not the revolutionary game the 1st one was in 2004, but its still a super solid action game. Gameplay is tight, graphics are nice, level variety is great. 8.6 rating.
Now I can't wait to play Ninja Gaiden 3 and see why that game was run out of town by the gaming community.
Updated with Dead Space 3.
This is a game that feels all over the place. Very unbalanced in just about every way, here we have a title seemingly designed around what EA the publisher wanted, instead of what the developers wanted. Visions of focus tests went whirling through my head while playing.
Combat can be great, then you come to a bunch of enemies who are too fast and once one of them gets on you, it gives the other 40 of them time to just crowd you to the point where you can't even get a shot off and they just gang rape you to death. The pacing is off...the game feels like it could have been over much sooner than it is. Hell, even the production values are all over the place. I played it on PS3, as I was going to play it on PC but EA doesn't release their games through Steam anymore...because that's what people want them to do. So they release them through Origin where they don't even work half the time...but I digress...
Anyway, the PS3 version is likely very close to the others. The graphics go from near jaw dropping in spots, to downright ugly in others. It gives the impression the title was rushed. And the story is just silly....a love triangle? Really?
It has its moments of greatness, but to those who felt they should have stuck with the style of the original, its overall a disappointment. 7.5 Rating.
And now that I'm finished with the Devil May Cry series, I can finally get back to Final Fantasy X.

Updated with Ninja Gaiden 3.
A misstep for the series. 7.5 rating.
Updated with Transistor. Good game but very different than what you might expect. This is not an action game like Bastion, it's more of a Action-Strategy game with Turns and Limited Resource Points that you could kinda play like an action game if you wanted. Unique!
Updated with game #7 of the month....fuckin' a that's a lot of finished games...Fear 3.
Well, the best thing I can say about Fear 3 is that its over in about 5 hours, and they have Danzig's "Mother" playing during the credits. Otherwise, this is about as generic a FPS as you can get. I've always found Fear as a series to be a bit overrated and generic, but this 3rd game is much worse.
What is it with some of these games I've played lately that are the 3rd game in the series? They've all been a big step back from previous games. Anyway, 6.8 rating.
Max Payne 3 was... something. Too many bads for it to be good (or great?), but I'll take another. Probably. Only if Max is taking down the Internet this time.
Updated with Batman Arkham Origins.
Finally got around to playing it....put it off for so long because I knew it wasn't as good as the other games. And its not. The combat seems annoyingly harder, and the game is very glitchy on top of the city itself feeling pretty lifeless. But past that, the basic core is still there and as fun as ever, and the boss fights are great. Its obvious it was made by the B team, so enjoy it for what it is until Arkham Knight. 8.0 rating.
This year I will make it my mission to have a positive year on backlog very, every year I get a negative where I add more games than I beat. I have not made a dent on my backlog for 4 years.

Same....that's why I'm blasting through my backlog. Its gotten ridiculous.

You mean a negative year. A negative balance is when you lose more of whatever thing you're gaining. A positive would be the opposite of what you want to accomplish.
Metal Gear Revengeance is finished. The final boss was awesome, felt like fighting Haggar from the Final Fight series. Great ending, though a little short.
