A miracle has occurred!
Since I have depleted the local game store of most PS3 titles I decided to risk buying some 360 games and see if they worked on my US 360 (since it is semi-region locked -- MS leaves it up to the publishers).
So far I've tried four games from three different publishers and they have all worked. Since the store has a generous return policy I fully intend to pulnder their 360 supply over the next few months.
Yay!
- Homefront, PS3, Used, Complete -- yeah yeah, supposed to be poor, but I bet I'll like it.
- Max Payne 3, 360, Used, Complete (So far so good, what was the problem with this game, I love it so far).
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, 360, Used, Complete.
- NBA2K12, 360, Used, Complete. Played a few games, AI (the game, not Iverson) cleaned my clock. Great game though.

It should be possible to find out if a 360 game is region free or region locked before buying it. I'm sure even google searching it would tell you that. You can also look up on the online shop www.videogamesplus.ca It always says if a particular 360 game is free or locked

The thing is... I am in a uniquew situation of having the dominant hardware in an obscure region. Usually those guides go the other way around (like, "I'm a big important NORTH AMERICAN, can I import X from Y and have it work?).
But I'll check it out, thanks Bugsy!
There's lots of lists, Aspro. Unless it's something really obscure I'm sure you could find out if a game is region locked or not.
To add to Bugsy's link:
I got a 3DS XL (my 40th gaming platform in the collection) with Mario Land 3D (or whatever it is called) and Rayman Origins.
Could not find anything else for it.
(My computer finally starts and I'm too tired to stay on, or even open the new 3DS).
Also got a cheap used copy of Crackdown 2.
I am expecting to think the 3DS is lame given I don't think I'll be able to see the 3D and comapred to the Vita, it will likely be low-spec, but we'll find out tomorrow.

I just got Virtues Last Reward and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney today.
I really want to play Virtues Last Reward, but I need to 100% 999 first.
I've been trying to hold off on purchasing a lot of new stuff in an attempt to clear a bit of my backlog. I've purchased only a few things here and there, with the most notable being:
In the Hyper review of Virtue's Last Reward they chose a screenshot with a rather obvious typo in the dialogue, and didn't caption it. No doubt they didn't even notice it going by the amount of errors in their own work.
Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary edition for the PSP. So far it's great, but fucking hell this may be the first time I've played a puzzle game like this where not knowing Japanese makes the game significantly more difficult. In story mode, the gameplay style changes up and without knowing the language I have no idea what to expect since I can't real the description.

I wanna pick this up eventually too. I'll just grab it off Newegg or Amazon if I can't find it in store.
Bought these two. I need to watch it or I could fall into games consumerism allover again
