I'm continuing with Bioshock, probably my 4th playthrough of this masterpiece.  Does any game do atmosphere as well as Bioshock and its sequels ? Maybe the Arkham games.

Agatha Christie Hercule Quirot the first cases is much better than I expected from the first case, which is a small prologue.

Has even Agatha Christie been infected by the woke mind virus and turned the ultra-masculine Poirot queer?!

I was originally set to do a weekend trip, but that fell apart due to illness, so I'm playing Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete. I've got a couple interesting notes so far.

1. This game has apparently been remade 3 times. The original on Sega CD, this PS1 version that had a very expanded story, a GBA version Lunar Legends that was sort of a demake, and then Lunar Silver Star Harmony for the PSP. That's a lot.

2. As for the game itself, I forgot how much work they did with the dialogue. It's like they tried to fill the script with a lot of double entendres, kind of the way Disney sneaks in adult jokes for a lot of their animated movies, although much less subtle. There's also some contemporary references that audiences today probably would not get it all. At one point in the game you meet a guy talking like Austin Powers. I suspect I laughed a lot more at that in 1998.

No he's a Belgian gentleman, well mannered, sometimes vain. Sometimes too well mannered when faced with rank hostility, elitism.

I'd just tell the other person to fuck off. But one's an old lady... so... maybe...

One thing the game could have done better is the depiction of a party, having some NPCs in the background chattering or dancing would have added something.

I can't believe the Switch has been around for seven years and may even see year eight before the Switch 2 is released.

If I hadn't traded mine in for an oled it would feel very old. They've done a decent job with supporting it this year though.

I can believe it. Switch felt kinda old-ish on release.

Yeah I’m definitely feeling the itch for some new hardware from Nintendo.

I hope Nintendo doesn't fuck this up and radically change what made the first Switch so awesome.

I was more forgiving since I could play it on the go, but I definitely want some powerful tech.

It only seems like 3 years.

If the next console from Nintendo is not backward compatible, I'd strongly consider upgrading to OLED -- even if just to get a second dock (the off brand dock I got is iffy).

They really have done a good job with software over the whole life of the Switch. While we watch and wait 7+ years for Rockstar, Naughty Dog, Guerilla and Sony Santa Monica to bring out a single game, Nintendo has been putting out good quality games every quarter at a minimum. Whatever they are doing, however they are managing, their resources, their sustainability is admirable.

Sea of Thieves coming to Switch and PS -- I'm surprised it has taken this long. For a live service game to survive and flourish, it needs to be on as many platforms as possible.

Is that true, or do you guys think a LSG can survive on PC alone?

I read about that.  Good to see Activision doesn't discriminate about who they discriminate.  If anything, this is positive news.  Kinda.

A bit late, but I played a lot of Pikmin 4 over the weekend.  Or at least what qualifies as 'a lot of gaming' to me these days.  I think I can finish the game with one more in-game day, but there's still al ot of discovering to do.

Unless there's any post-credits content, it's quite a shame that there are only 4 'biomes' to truddle around in, and they're not even all that big.  Sure, there's the caves that probably add up to the size of a biome themselves and while they're good from a gameplay perspective, they lack the visual flourish of a full biome.  Also, one of the 4 biomes is inside a house, which is a shame.  Pikmin was always at its best when it only implied you were on earth.

[eurogamer.net]UEVR mod lets you easily play unreal engine games in VR Huge news for VR gaming

No reactions?  None at all?

Personally I think it's great news.  Sure, it's a mod and it'll be a bit fiddly with not every game proving a good fit, but PC gamers ostensibly love tinkering to get thing working properly and this mod singelhandedly creates a nearly endless library of games to play in VR.  And best of all: at no cost since a lot of people will own a bunch of compatible games already.  I'm nearly enticed to invest in a decent gaming PC myself, and I hate fiddling around with settings.

Tons of OLED owners sell their docks on ebay. Its how I got my spare for another TV.
