Personally I think it's great news. Sure, it's a mod and it'll be a bit fiddly with not every game proving a good fit, but PC gamers ostensibly love tinkering to get thing working properly and this mod singelhandedly creates a nearly endless library of games to play in VR. And best of all: at no cost since a lot of people will own a bunch of compatible games already. I'm nearly enticed to invest in a decent gaming PC myself, and I hate fiddling around with settings.
It's cool. Unfortunately, I don't have any interest in VR these days. Id much rather play on my OLED TV.
A bit late, but I played a lot of Pikmin 4 over the weekend. Or at least what qualifies as 'a lot of gaming' to me these days. I think I can finish the game with one more in-game day, but there's still al ot of discovering to do.
Unless there's any post-credits content, it's quite a shame that there are only 4 'biomes' to truddle around in, and they're not even all that big. Sure, there's the caves that probably add up to the size of a biome themselves and while they're good from a gameplay perspective, they lack the visual flourish of a full biome. Also, one of the 4 biomes is inside a house, which is a shame. Pikmin was always at its best when it only implied you were on earth.
Yep, definitely liked the house biome the least. What did you think of the Olimar side quests?

You mean those rooms where it's a race to collect as much stuff, either against the clock or againts an NPC opponent? I thought they were pretty cool. Sure, they make no sense within the wider Pikmin 4 world, other than shaking up gameplay, but I'm ok with that.
If the next console from Nintendo is not backward compatible, I'd strongly consider upgrading to OLED -- even if just to get a second dock (the off brand dock I got is iffy).
Tons of OLED owners sell their docks on ebay. Its how I got my spare for another TV.

I would have thought Unreal was supported in VR already.

I just bought another one (OLED 4K) for another room. Finding out how good a PS4/XB1 looks on the first one I bought was transformative to my interest in gaming.

Nice!
Yup. To mine as well. I'm playing a lot more than I did before I got my OLED. I knew a new TV would improve things but it was still surprising to me by how much it improves detail, atmosphere and performance.

*whispering to myself * You don't need another TV. You don't need another TV.

I was playing a 4k HDR 120hz video on my 2k OLED 120hz phone screen yesterday, mainly to show the nephew.
The detail and smoothness were so good it felt like looking through a window. My nephew even thought it had a 3D effect.
BTW there was a Rumour yesterday than switch 2 has a 120hz screen but only 8gb ram and 64gb HDD. that came from a Taiwan economic forum news story.
Doesn't make sense to me, I mean sure, if Switch 2 has multiple microsd card slots it won't be too bad. You could fit 2 tb cards to it. But developers want to RAM for porting demanding games. How many games will be 120fps?
I guess if the screen is only 720p or 1080p it would easier to push for those framerates in portable mode. I guess the only way it makes sense is if the screen manufacturer gave them a good deal or said it won't cost much more for a smoother screen at X resolution.

Speaking of which, Mclassic has much the same effect with switch games. With the 2k adaptor the difference is night and day. Hecule Quirots jaggy bald head and the stair stepping on the fireplace was immediately fixed with the flick of a switch.
When I turned it off again it was immediately clear how washed out and jaggy/blurry some switch games can look on a 4ktv.
Mclassic had the same effect as the OLED screen had for me, massively boosted colours, deeper blacks, more detail, sharper picture + free AA for every game? It's a little bit of magic.

If Switch 2 has a 120fps screen, Nintendo may be targeting a locked 40fps fidelity mode like in Ratchet & Clank PS5..Hogwarts Legacy also has a 40fps Balanced option that only show up when playing on a 120fps display; this is what I've been using and it looks and feels much better than 30fps. Digital Foundry did a video explaining it:
As far as Switch 2 only having 8GB of RAM, it's likely. The Xbox Series S only has 10GB and targets 1440p max. Games only need 16GB if they're using 4K textures which I'm sure Switch 2 won't be.

No, now I'm not sure if you are far enough in the game and don't want to spoil it.
I'm about to enter the vault. I figured that would be the end.
edit: also, thank for being cautious as to not spoil anything.
Thanks for the tip.

Travo beat me to it. Pikmin 4 has one of those early credit rolls. Apparently, the fun ramps up after that point in the game.
Is Hogwarts any good?
My Deluxe edition of Agatha Christie Murder on the Orient Express arrived.
Tbh I didn't even realise it was a deluxe I bid on. Pretty cool it comes with a train ticket, an art book, cardboard sleeve and free OST.
Nice. Good surprise.
I've only played a couple hours so far, and it's quite good on PS5. Will be doing a deep dive into it once I'm done with RE2 Remake.
