I checked out the trailer for The Final Fantasy pixel remaster. Not that my expectations for it were particularly high, but they weren't met. It's kind of baffling how they keep remaking these games, and they still don't quite ever figure out the right way to do it.

The immediate gripe that I and pretty much everyone on the planet who has eyeballs shares is that they went with a very thin and small font that makes it very difficult to read. I generally don't get out of developers in this day still don't get that reading the screen is important.

On top of that, they are really pricing these games high. $16 per game is a bit much. You can maybe justify it for Final Fantasy 6, but not so much for the earlier ones. These are games that are around 30 years old, and have already been released in plenty of other formats before. Hell, I've seen some people arguing that the GBA ports look better than most of them and those aren't exactly challenging to get a hold of.

Anyway, it's probably going to be a hard pass for me. I might pick up FF3, as it never got a proper 2D remake. However it's also one of the worst in the series so it will come down to how masochistic I'm feeling.

Yes they did. Played through Layers of Fear and found it “ok”. Had some interesting and cool horror aspects but I’ll be damned if I can recall them off the top of my head. LOL

Played a bit of Observer and thought that it was kind of cool.

Ugh. Son of a bitch. That doesn’t sound good at all. I’m guessing that they’ll be $20 here probably. Even if they do come to consoles later on I’ll probably just wait for them to go on sale for like 50% off or more.

I've seen video reviews, they look decent. I'll probably pick up both when cheap especially as the nephew's bugging me to play horror games. I like the idea of a horror game that relies on atmosphere where there's no fear of death. So tired of sneaking and running then one hit deaths.

Completed True Fear Forsaken Souls 2. Game is like the Godfather 2. Its like the grand daddy of first person adventure games. The whole project was so big they had to split it into 3 games. I'm waiting on release of the 3rd game. So you don't get any story resolution over 1 game. The 2nd game is much deeper and denser than the first and its all very interesting. Tbh I would buy the 3rd immediately to find out what finally happened.

Started Oxenfree. The music is too loud so I can't hear the voice work. Can't turn it down. Have to use subs 😑 seems to be a teenage conversation walking Simulator. It's okay so far, but the tiny character models make it harder to empathise with the characters.

Finished Oxenfree

it was pretty good overall, preferred it to Firewatch and Gone Home. Its basically an experience game, only thing that bugged me was the painfully slow walking speed. It has no real gameplay, it's just you chatting the shit with your teenage gang and having them experience an otherworldly situation.

Playing Sundered, this Metroidvania. Controls super responsive, was kinda empty seemed okay. Then I activated the defence system and all hell broke loose 😯 seems like a great Metroid game so far.

without question my least favorite holiday ever. My dog is deathly scared of fireworks, in any kind of loud noises. So my wife and I pretty much spend the night comforting her. It's gotten so bad we actually have to give her tranquilizers now. Stupid ass fireworks.

I've been going back between Fortune Street and Super Mario Galaxy this week. I've been telling myself I'm going to start the Last Story, but I'm still not sure I want to commit to a game of that length just yet.

Same for my dog. I have grown to really dispise my neighbors. I wish they'd just keep it to the 4th but no. They have to do it for a week before and the week after, day and night. Assholes.

Yeah I really don't get it. Fireworks on the 4th of July, I understand. I'm not really a fan, but I get it it's the holiday, it means something, it's what we all grew up with, it's a part of america. Fine.

What I don't understand is how someone can have a middling two digit IQ and spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on fireworks. Then they shoot them off night after night for 2 weeks. How the hell is that still amusing or entertaining after day two? It's just something that goes boom and maybe lights up for a second. If you're five, sure that makes sense. If you're an adult, and you find it entertaining, I'm not sure you should be able to vote.
