Eight years ago today I woke up, headed out to GameStop to hang in line with some fat guys and bought a launch Wii U. Not one of my better decisions. No sir.
Congrats Fools. I just ordered mine today and it should arrive tomorrow, although it might be a bit later since we're in peak online shopping period.
Did you get a high speed USB cable to use it tethered to your PC as well? how are you liking the strap? The elite straps were sold out, but if I end up not returning it, I'll definitely get an elite strap for added comfort.
Robio, Tesco UK is lowering switch prices on black friday only, perhaps it'll do the same in the US?
I've never heard of them, so either they don't have them in my region or they're just not in the country at all. Thanks for keeping an eye out though.
At this point I'm fairly sure all of the Black Friday sales have been announced and published, and it doesn't look like there's many deals out there aside from the Mario kart bundle, Which wasn't really a big deal for me.
So we'll see what I will end up doing. Honestly, I still don't really I feel like I need a Switch right now. So I may just end up upgrading the PC and messing around with that.

Yes, I bought a 3 metre USB-C cable that was over $100 cheaper than the link cable lol. It is meant to arrive on Friday; in the meantime, I hope to set up Air Light VR (free open source alternative to virtual desktop) to experience how terrible wireless PC VR is using my crappy ISP modem/router lol.
For my head, it actually feels pretty nice. I haven't got the strap that goes over the scalp perfectly adjusted yet, so I must reserve final judgement, but in terms of it being front-loaded and focusing most of the pressure on the face, I don't mind that at all; it actually feels pretty comfortable to me.
So my son and daughter are into Among Us, the big hit with kids right now. It's pretty fun, simple, but fun. We have had two family nights where all four of us play together.
I too have ascended to the next generation. 6DOF untethered stereoscopic mana!
My Quest 2 arrived today, less than 24 hours after I ordered it. Bless you, modern consumeralism.
I'll be trying to get a few programs sideloaded on it this evening to see if I can use it for work related purposes. I'll probably try out some more entertaining stuff once I've got that sorted out. If my prior experiences with gettng hardware to do things they're not obviously designed for is any indication, that'll probably not be before the weekend.
So I think I may get Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity for Christmas. I sunk over 5 hours into the demo and played each level multiple times. It feels like a proper Breath of the Wild game, that's combat focused. Saw a couple of video reviews and it looks fun.

I’ll probably pick it up tomorrow. I’ve only played the first level once but it was enough to let me know that it’ll be something that I’ll enjoy.

I’ve watched some of it played by others and it does look like a whole lot of fun.

My son and his friends are also playing it, but he has specifically asked me not to play it. Teenagers are assholes.

There's a demo?! I will pass on the game, warriors was fun but nothing I need more of. And BOTW is not my favorite Zelda era.
So far I only got any hint of nausea in one demo, and it went away if I stopped for a second or two.
Definitely the right decision to go for this over a lower resolution headset (pending what link is like), as the sharpness looks like my 21.5" 1080P monitor, and anything less sharp than that and I start to get eye strain.
Welcome to a whole new world of gaming. I can be your guide. Do you have a good PC to connect it to to play the bigger games or will you just be playing off the sets OS?
The Quest2 is a keeper. My wife just spent 20 minutes looking at a 3D I made of refurbishments we were planning to our own house. I can even do real time adjustments when on the same network.
I'm also now officially an oculus developer. It was the only way to sideload the required programs to get this magic working.
edit: oh, and I also manage to already scratch one lense. Luckily I am used to seeing the world through a pair of smudged, scratched glasses.

You need to tell him that it’s hip to be square. Then promptly dance in front of him and his friends while the song plays. They’ll love it!

Both, USB C cable arriving today, and need to finish setting up the wireless!

It needs 75% Steam sale! In the meantime, going to see if I can get gamespass No Man's Sky VR working.

I'll probably be getting some accessories. I've seen stuff like spacers that pop on the lenses so you can't accidentally bruise them with glasses, deeper padded rims,... That kind of stuff.
I apparently also have a very large IPD above 70mm.

If you had a PS5, you could post a pic of the PS5, and say that your IPD is that big!
