I really miss the days when I used to get EGM (my favorite gaming mag ever from the late 80's until the early 00's) in the mail every month. Kids these days don't know what it was like to get this giant mag in the mail full of awesome gaming info that you hadn't yet heard about. Every page a new surprise. It was like Xmas every 30 days. Daydreaming about games you wouldn't get to play for maybe a year. And the journalistic vibe in gaming was much different then. It didn't feel like a bunch of nerds who went to college to become gaming journalists. I still remember the names of the entire EGM crew from back then.

Where I Read - Electronic Gaming Monthly #121 - Breaking ...One of my favorite issues....I was literally nerding out like Dvader on this one. First info on RE3 and the next gen Dreamcast RE game, and a giant spread on all of Rareware's stuff who were probably my favorite studio at that time.

80+ Nostalgic & Epic Video Game Magazine Cover Art ...Another incredible one, for obvious reasons.

EGM #98, September 1997 Tomb Raider 2 cover. | lara croft ...Yep....Lara got me excited. I admit it.

COGconnected Retro Review Series Episode 1 - Final Fantasy ...Oooooh yeah

Thanks to everyone for their magazine impressions.  I have ... I won't say a full run of EGM, but I have almost all of them from I think from 1998 on.  I love gaming magazines.

Now that GamesTM is gone all I have left if RetroGamer, which while excellent doesn't cover the general gaming scene.  I do enjoy EDGE, but last year they changed their format to a smaller size, so their content -- which is made for use on a tablet -- is practically unreadable in the print version.  Why this is not obvious to them I don't know -- the more likely case is they don;t give a shit about the hard copy anymore.

I've been checking out pictures of Australia's skyline.  Are you Aussies okay?

I wonder how bad it really is, since the media always makes wildfires seem a million times worse than they really are to get those clicks. And sometimes the pictures are literally fake. I remember last year when they were making a huge deal about Brazil fires, there was a story on some outlet where the video footage was actually Bolivia.

The smart people (such as Prime Ministers and heads of emergency services) are all on holiday overseas at the moment, so it's all good.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just very uninformed. But if you are this uninformed, why comment? Particularly when people have been killed and houses are already being damaged in north Melbourne a month away from peak Bushfire season, not to mention the fucking smoke everyone south of Queensland has had to breathe on and off since this shit show started.

I thought the fact that I said "I wonder how bad it really is" made it obvious that I was uninformed. Was actually hoping you or Aspro would respond with some info. Sorry I commented.

I saw some night time video footage of the aussie fires. It looked like the Apocalypse. Similar to the California fires I guess.

That's true; I (mis)interpreted it as implying you thought it probably was just being sensationalised. In any case, I'm sorry for the obnoxious tone of my post, though at least it did contain some info so I hope that helped!

I've been checking out some videos. It looks ridiculous. I don't know where you Aussie guys are located, but hopefully far away from the blaze.

Other than the smoke (which is a big issue for my mother due to lung issues, but at least that's all we have to deal with, I guess), we're perfectly fine. I have family who are closer to it, but they're not in any really dangerous areas and know what they're doing, anyway.
