This weekend, I returned to The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, played a good bit of Super Mario Maker 2, and explored many planets in Jedi Fallen Order.
I really miss the days when I used to get EGM (my favorite gaming mag ever from the late 80's until the early 00's) in the mail every month. Kids these days don't know what it was like to get this giant mag in the mail full of awesome gaming info that you hadn't yet heard about. Every page a new surprise. It was like Xmas every 30 days. Daydreaming about games you wouldn't get to play for maybe a year. And the journalistic vibe in gaming was much different then. It didn't feel like a bunch of nerds who went to college to become gaming journalists. I still remember the names of the entire EGM crew from back then.
One of my favorite issues....I was literally nerding out like Dvader on this one. First info on RE3 and the next gen Dreamcast RE game, and a giant spread on all of Rareware's stuff who were probably my favorite studio at that time.
Bloodborne is fucking fantastic. I really should have stuck with this when it first came out. It just gets better and better. Fuck all the games that came out in 2019; outside of Resident Evil 2, THIS is the game of 2019! For those who have played Sekiro, how does it stack up to this? Because I honestly think Bloodborne is maybe a bit better than even the Souls games....it certainly feels more polished, thanks to them just being able to focus on one machine instead of making it multi-platform. I just got the Old Hunters DLC because I still need more.
Just like the Souls games, having others join your game makes it so much fun. These FromSoft games do online co-op better than anyone. Doesn't get in the way of the experience at all and doesn't feel forced like many other games. And as hard as these games can be, they don't annoy the hell out of me like a lot of action games because they never feel cheap. I REALLY hope Sony gets them to do a PS5 sequel. That would be the ultimate launch game.
I loved EGM and looked forward to their reviews every month, the only ones I read. I didn't join the EGM bandwagon until the late nineties but I loved every issue and picked up several games based off of their reviews. I still remember their gushing over Metroid Prime and how it mirrored my own feelings towards the game.
I really looked forward to picking up gaming magazines each month at local stores and EGM was a regular favourite of mine. I had tons of them in my collection but got rid of them all years ago. I still miss them. 😢
Yeah EGM was fantastic. They were a requirement for me every time I flew home from college. I would read those magazines from cover to cover on my flights. probably for that reason I always get a little extra nostalgic about them during the holidays, since that was usually when I would be flying.
I had a subscription to EGM and Next Generation magazine all through the'90s. Both were great. I regret tossing them all in the early-2000s; each mag was a time capsule.
My all time favourite gaming magazine was Gamefan. The quality of the paper and pictures was unmatched.
I liked that one too. Super glossy.

I had a huge stack of EGM that I also tossed out around that same time. It just got to the point where they were taking up a whole closet & I needed the space. I would love to be able to skim through them now though.
I also liked Next Gen, until an issue right before Xbox & Gamecube launched. They had an article, side by side comparison between all 4 systems (including Dreamcast) & they literally tried to say that the Gamecube was only on par with the Dreamcast & couldn't compete with the other two. After that, I couldn't take that mag seriously anymore.
Why are you skipping important plot points?

This weekend I returned to some Gears 5 multiplayer and Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.
Don't be salty just because I figured out the optimal speed running strategy for that level!
This weekend I was Borne of Blood.
This weekend I was Gears 5.
From my game informer news article above

Rumour Metroid Prime 4's Environment Work Might Be Outsourced
