Nice sales numbers, especially Mario Kart, a game that has already been out for years.  It’s got to be approaching Mario Kart Wii numbers.

Edit: never mind.  Mario Kart Wii’s sales are just mind blowing.

Anyone care to transcribe what's in the article?  I didn't want to agree with them abusing my personal data, so they just didn't want to let me in.

A US trader has accumulated a $400 million short bet against Nintendo, piling on new concerns surrounding the company's stock value going forward.

Nintendo's stock prices have been all over the place in recent times, with a large number of dramatic falls since E3 piling pressure on the Japanese giant. A lack of new game announcements was reportedly to blame for the majority of these drops - although Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aimé was quick to fight back against these claims - but this latest development could be equally as damaging to Nintendo's current situation.

Gabriel Plotkin, head of New York hedge fund Melvin Capital Management, has reportedly jumped on Nintendo's recent stock price woes by placing a huge short selling bet on the idea of it crashing even further. If a short seller believes that a company's stock price is overvalued, and will therefore fall in the future, they can make money through borrowing and selling stock at its current price before buying the stock back again after it has fallen in value. This could also backfire, however; if the stock value rises, the short seller would only be able to re-purchase the stock at a higher value than before, essentially losing money.

In simpler terms, this basically means that Plotkin has placed a $400 million bet on Nintendo's stock price continuing to fall. Naturally, this has the potential to cause even more doubt in the minds of investors, with some reportedly deciding to sell their stock and follow suit in Plotkin's short selling tactics. According to Bloomberg data, this is the largest trade against Nintendo since at least 2013 (shortly after the Wii U's disappointing launch).

It's a very strange time in the world of Nintendo at present, with the Switch breaking records left, right and centre, but also coming under fire from investors after a slight second-year lull. Only time will tell how Nintendo's latest system will perform going forward, so all we can do is wait and see.

[nintendolife.com]Splatoon 2's Ancho-V Games Stage Arrives Tomorrow With Four New Weapons

Ancho-V...  Good times I had with that map.  Due to how the spawn point has a wide corridor leading out into the map, I could contain all 4 opposing players there on my lonesome with my trusty .52Gal.  Sadly the .52Gal in Splatoon2 is but a shadow of its former self, marred by a useless sub and special.  Man, I miss my Killer Whail special.  Sad

Non gaming related: I am currently working with an italian on a project, and his English is exactly like those comedy accents you'd hear.  Best of all, he writes it phonetically too.  Can you guess what these written words are, keep in mind I'm in construction?

I’m going to be playing some Bubble Bobble tonight so feel free to join me for some two player action. Nyaa

PS4 isn't going to even sniff the PS2 sales asshole by the end. Weren't they saying the sales were outpacing the PS2? If they've only shipped 82 million by now, five years into the cycle, they're not catching the PS2's 155 million. Especially with buzz building for PS5 and Xbox ii.

Xbox ii?  That's a terrible name.  They could have least gone with Xbox ii U or something.

Huawai overtook Apple in raw number of mobile phones sold in the second quarter of this year.  I find that rather shocking, as as far as I am concerned, it's still not really an A brand.  Of course, in profits Apple will still come out on top, as their iPhones are in general more expensive than most of Huawei's models.

They were, but yeah it didn't work out. It was losing some momentum in Japan early last year, and once the Switch got it's legs and Nintendo was able to maintain the demand things have gotten pretty ugly for it. It hasn't been able to maintain a weekly mark of 20,000 units sold for a while now. and without Kingdom Hearts 3, I don't know if it has a big mega seller for the rest of this year. As far as Western sales go, I think it's still doing well but not amazing. Just too much competition.

Should have tapped into the Chinese market.

I'd love for them to update the game with classic weapons and specials. They should do that once they are done with free updates. Just unleash everything. I really miss the seeker and used to base a lot of my playstyle on it. Get in behind enemy lines, zoom away from danger and get into people's faces fast and aggressive.

Original specials were much better than those in this game. I still think the splashdown is incredibly cheap. You'll run around a corner, someine from the other team does the same, triggers his splashdown in a kneejerk reflex and before you have the slightest of chance to do anything you've been slatted.
