I don't see Pokemon Go as being ambitious or wide in scope. It was made by an ex-google unit that was tasked with making games that used Googles map systems. The game itself is not ambitious, it's AR, graphics have basic characters, there are no environments or anything. You just walk towards a map location and throw pokeballs at basic character models to collect them. Also don't forget that Nintendo was involved with development at a basic level and owns parts of both Niantic and The Pokemon Company. They invested a large chunk of cash into Niantic for this game.
EDIT: Also the share price inflation is more to do with the potential of Nintendo IP in the mobile market and the potential revenue derived from that.
I don't see how you can not find something like Pokémon Go ambitious, even more so since it's a Nintendo(ish) game. It uses Google maps, GPS, AR functionality. It has dedicated servers for pokémon locations and gyms. It's worldwide. The underlying systems are as complex as those found in the actual pokémon games. Ambition is more than polygon count and good animation. To think that any of Nintendo's upcomming apps will be a fraction as ambitious as this is folly if you ask me. Look at Miitomo. It was a social media/digital pet hybrid that died a swift death. I don't think Nintendo themselves have it in them to create something on mobile that can match Pokémon Go. I am not aware of how much Nintendo was involved in its creation, but their name doesn't show up at the start of the game, and it's basically a reskin of an earlier Niantic game. Ingress I believe it was called.
I think the potential of Nintendo's IP on mobile isn't all that great, unless they throw in the kitchen sink and bring over their prized gameplay as well. But they won't do that because in doing so they will undermine their hardware business. Who will care for a Mario game that doesn't resemble anything previously related to Mario? Once investors see that they can't make anything to match Pokémon go, share values will drop down again. I'm not saying Nintendo won't be able to make some fairly succesfull apps with their vast vault of IP's, I'm just saying that they won't be able to match what Niantic and the Pokémon company conjured.
I haven't played a 3DS game since January of last year because Smash Bros. Destroyed the circle pad on my 3DSXL, I might transfer everything to my 3DS but I don't think I can go back to that because it isn't as ergonomic.
I wish I could go see Megadeth live. Even though Mustaine's voice closely resembles an angry, dying cat these days.
Yeah his voice sounded good until about 2008...now he has 'old man can't sing anymore" syndrome. He's fine when he does his snarling, growling stuff....but the old songs from Rust In Peace or earlier that are full of high notes he just butchers. At least musically they still sound great.

SupremeAC: if I recall correctly, you made a comment on an episode of the GU podcast about games influencing other media. I'm curious and would be interested in any elaboration!
Sup you replied too late. I probably should have said something before. Notice how I rarely update on the weekend. Anymore. Uf u reply past a certain point on a Friday, I have no keyboard and can't reply in the way I want to on my phone. So rather than half ass it, I just don't.
Boy that looked.... underwhelming. It's way too early to judge since not a second of gameplay was shown, but all I get from this is Sonic fighting in a warzone.

Oh boy, that must have been like a year or so ago. I'd have to look up my post here at the VGPress to help me recover that moment of accidental clearness. Sadly enough, I don't know how to look up old posts in the news section, or if it's even possible

You can still reply now. That's the beauty if the internet, it's asyncronous! I haven't been active much myself lately. In the middle of a 3 week holliday, so I don't sit behind computers as much as I usually do. For most of my contributions of the last 2 weeks I actually booted up my PC so I could reply to something I read here on my phone.
The NES Mini is really cool, but it could have been so much cooler.
I mean, imagine if they had included a built in sd card or some kind of small storage unit that allowed you to connect to a NES virtual console where you could literally download every game that ever released on the system?
It would have literally been one of the coolest things ever. And they could do this for every classic console.

Oliver Stone slams Pokemon GO as 'a new level of invasion'
“[It’s] a new level of invasion and surveillance capitalism. Frankly it’s what they call totalitarianism."

I saw Megadeth live several years ago, it was awesome. Also got to see Ronnie James Dio and the rest of Black Sabbath there as well.

SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Glad to see you are adjusting fine, Leo. Take care
I picked up Pokemon Alpha Saphire for my son during our ride to the beach tomorrow. Of course, it's for me too (and the wife.)

Sonic Generations 2 teased!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sonic Mania announced. New Genesis Sonic game.
On the otherhand, this actually looked like it could be a lot of fun. If nothing else the music was really good.

I can't find it.
I have the game so no.
I will never have the game, so no.
