Its cool that Splatoon has been a success and all, but has it really mattered? I mean, its still just selling to Nintendo fans and to the same pre-existing userbase. It hasn't made the Wii U sales skyrocket or made a bunch of Playstation or Xbox users jump over to Nintendo. I also think much of its success is just due to the fact that there's not a whole hell of a lot else to choose from.
Without it, the Wii U would have been much worse off. It is tough to judge what it did in the West because there's never any real transparent sales data, but in Japan you can see how it directly affected the Wii U. The game has not left the top 10 software chart more than 2 or 3 times since it was released in May of last year. And the Wii U had a sustained sales bounce of about 4000 units on a weekly basis even once the initial sales spike was over.
I think it's reasonable to say that Splatoon single handedly saved the Wii U from being another Dreamcast.
I should buy Bayonetta 2. It'll probably become scarce. Not anytime soon with our stupid prices, but still.
You should buy Bayonetta 2 regardless. Best 3D action game ever. Queen of the hard action genre.

The game has definitely moved units in Japan and is widely spectulated that it has moved a few units in the Americas.

I need to see lists before acknowledging my failure as a Nintendo hater. Comprehensive lists of games!
Nintendo has made plenty of new IPs over the past few years. Such as Harmonight, Rolling Western, Sakura Samurai, Steel Diver, Wonderful 101, Splatoon, Eco Shooter, and Codename S.T.E.A.M.
The problem is that all of those games except Splatoon, Wonderful 101, and Codename S.T.E.A.M. are very low budget. Not to mention Wonderful 101 is made by Platinum so it "doesn't count" to some.

Its still a Dreamcast either way if you ask me. Seriously, I don't see how Splatoon saved it, or any other game. Its been around a lot longer than Dreamcast was and hasn't really sold that much better. In Japan maybe, but Japan is weird anyway.

It is in the sense that it has a fantastic library. It isn't in the sense that it's not a shit console that can single-handedly destroy a company.

Also during the Wii/DS gen Nintendo had plenty of new IPs, like:
Wii Sport/Fit, Nintendogs, Hotel Dusk, Another Code, Xenoblade, Brain Training, Pushmo and plenty of other small indie titles.
Why would there be a problem if a game is low budget? Never understood that line of thinking. Who cares what it costs if the game is fun! Also the orginal Smash was pretty low budget too, until it sold well and the sequels had the budget inrease accordingly.
Also people that discount shit because of their own agenda should be promptly ignored. Wonderful 101 is first party, Nintendo owns the IP and fully funded the game. There is no discussion there

Yes it does matter. It helped to increase the numbers of Wii U sold according to the numbers we have. And according to your logic Wonderful 101 should have sold 4 million too, tht is clearly not the case.
I've been listening to the first hour or so of the GUPodcast. Some thouhts:
if you say you're playing a game on PC, you should also mention if you're using keyboard and mouse, or a controller.
People complain about the Witness being $40 because games are still seen as a commodity, to be charged for according to how much money was spent on making them, as opposed to the amount of pleasure you'll derive from them.
General concensus is that this is a game made by a single guy (where it's a team of 9 and then some) and thus could never be priced only slightly below the price of a game made by 300 people. But most amusing of all, according to this logic and teh assumptions that it'll sell about half a million copies (braid sold 450k), the price is just about right.
Very valid point, I'll be sure to include the control mechanism in future PC games. Thank You greatly.
Splatoon absolutely deserves those sales. Very happy to see it reach 4 million copies sold. That means 1 million sold in Japan and 3 million world-wide.

As to the above comments. Regardless of whether or not the Republican party is worse than any party in Australia (which is true), it does not change the fact that the republican and democratic parties are an inseperable clone of each other. Vote for Trump or Sanders, the house always wins. (pun intended - gerrymander joke).
This...doesn't prove your point. Also gerrymandering isn't why the house always wins. It is due to voter apathy in the country. Most people lean Democrat, but most voters tend to be Republican.
I really hate to even get into this stuff, but since you stated I was ignorant, in 2013 more votes were received for Democratic Party candidates in the house by popular selection, but the Republicans won a majority of the seats due to electorate mapping (gerrymander). It's why Sanders and Clinton never claim that they will win back the senate, whitehouse and house. (they always say they will win, have a good chance of winning the senate, and stop there).

The Dreamcast only failed because Sega went bankrupt. If Sega had a warchest like Nintendo the Dreamcast would have lasted the company another two years or so before they launched their next platform.

Again, since the Dems and Republicans are cut from the same cloth it does not matter.
Nope. 2013 was an outlier. It is a technicality that the Democrats got the most votes but not the seats. Similar to what happened in the 2000 presidential elections.
- Top selling amiibo in US: Link, Bowser, Toon Link, Mewtwo, Sonic, Pikachu, Mario, PAC-MAN, Mega Man, Ganondorf
- Top selling amiibo in Europe: Mario (Classic), Link, Inkling Squid, Green Yarn Yoshi, Mario (Super Mario), Mario (Smash), Inkling Boy, Toad, Inkling Girl
- Splatoon sales tracking is ahead of Mario Kart 8
Bam.
In 2015, Inkling Girl/Inkling Squid/Inkling Boy are the number 1,2,3 best selling amiibo in Japan respectively.
Sound pretty generous. ET2 was so good, I wonder if the yankee version can measure up?
I was going to buy it, but as it stands now, it is not nearly as good as ETS2. Only two trucks, only two states and they messed up with the time compression so longer trips now take less (real) time than they did in ETS2. I'm not forking out 20 americanos on two trucks that I can only drive through one fucking road. We'll see how things improve over time in regards to breadth of content.
I want the Reign voice guy just shouting "It's Link time!" every time you get in a battle. Then have Navi shaking her fairy ass over on the side.

I had no idea this was also a crypt keeper reboot!
Damn! What did she do to you?

There are many more reasons than gerrymandering alone.
And Bernie is all about winning back the House and Senate.
