I've been out of the loop for a while. How long has FF been real time? That video looked fantastic, but I can't see myself getting too far into before tiring of it. I haven't played a FF since X.
I disagree that mandatory voting is a bad thing. At least then not only those with avid beliefs will decide what direction to take the country in. You'll also see the silent masses' more moderate views reflected in the voting, leading to less extreme results.
What I don't understand is how you can have a country where there are only 2 political parties of any semblance. Over here there are at least 4 parties with enough weight behind them that voting for them is a sane thing to do, and then another 4 or so smaller parties with more extreme views of where society should be headed..
In my experience as a volunteer at voting booths in Au, compulsory voting just forces angry, ill-informed people to be angrier (though not any more or less ill-informed). They always are happy to express how much they fucking hate you, Australia, having to vote and how they will vandalize their ballot paper in order to invalidate their right.
As to the above comments. Regardless of whether or not the Republican party is worse than any party in Australia (which is true), it does not change the fact that the republican and democratic parties are an inseperable clone of each other. Vote for Trump or Sanders, the house always wins. (pun intended - gerrymander joke).
I've been listening to the first hour or so of the GUPodcast. Some thouhts:
if you say you're playing a game on PC, you should also mention if you're using keyboard and mouse, or a controller.
People complain about the Witness being $40 because games are still seen as a commodity, to be charged for according to how much money was spent on making them, as opposed to the amount of pleasure you'll derive from them.
General concensus is that this is a game made by a single guy (where it's a team of 9 and then some) and thus could never be priced only slightly below the price of a game made by 300 people. But most amusing of all, according to this logic and teh assumptions that it'll sell about half a million copies (braid sold 450k), the price is just about right.
Splatoon absolutely deserves those sales. Very happy to see it reach 4 million copies sold. That means 1 million sold in Japan and 3 million world-wide.

This...doesn't prove your point. Also gerrymandering isn't why the house always wins. It is due to voter apathy in the country. Most people lean Democrat, but most voters tend to be Republican.

Neither should Metal Gear or Final Fantasy or any game that came from an era where voice acting wasn't possible.
Not every game needs voice acting. Metal Gear is far better with voice acting because it is a cinematic experience. For Final Fantasy...it depends on the game. A game done in the style of Final Fantasy VI would be bad for voice acting, however the reverse is true for a modern Final Fantasy. Zelda...I don't think should have voice acting as it just doesn't seem to gel well with what the series goes for.

Just curious, but is this something that has been proven?

Hopefully the inevitable sequel will feature a more fleshed out single player campaign.

What I've gotten out of the first hour of the GUPodcast was that the Witness is packed full of phallic references. I was really uninterested in the game before, but now that I know it's chock full o'cock I'm down to try it.
I'm trying to think of other first party new IP but I'm coming up blank. Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Bloodborne, even stuff like Quantum Break are not really first party.
If anyone is worried that Sanders or Trump won't get the nomination, don't worry, I have great news. Jesse Ventura is going to run if those two men don't get their parties respective nominations. He feels that they have attracted a large number of people who would not vote for any other candidate because they insist on having an outsider in office. Jesse will be that outsider. So we've got that going for us.
When he used a fire spell and it hit the gasoline and exploded! Amazing!
Zelda shouldn't have any voice acting at all.

I hope it's better than Breaking Bad.

On Zelda voice acting. Would you prefer an American dub or an English one like Xenoblade Wii?

Amiibo Hits Over 40 Million Sales in Nine Months
Pretty impessive given that they still almost have no practical purpose at all.

So apparently Splatoon is the most successful new first party IP this gen. Sold twice as much as Bloodborne too.
It didn't even get that great reviews initially so I guess word of mouth has spread.
Must make Square-Enix a bit sour, with all their mega-budgets and way out there sales estimates.
