I am pretty sure shaq has nothing to do with this, that game raised that money on its own. Really think about that for a second.

EDIT: Shaq did mocap for this, ok he is to blame.

Yeah he was all over this. Did you see some of the rewards for kickstarting it? The high end ones were lunch with Shaq and having him DJ your party.

Nintendo pledges to leverage its strengths after poor financial report

“In the belief that the true value of entertainment lies in individuality, Nintendo continues to provide unique products and services by positioning as its core management strategy the dedicated video game platform business of hardware and software integration, in which Nintendo can best leverage its strengths.

“In addition, by introducing Nintendo Network IDs and taking advantage of smart devices, for example, Nintendo strives to strengthen its efforts to build a long-term relationship with its consumers and expand the market of its own platforms.”

“Moreover,” it continued, “by redefining entertainment as something that improves people’s QOL (Quality of Life) in enjoyable ways, Nintendo aims to deploy a new platform business that improves people’s QOL in enjoyable ways in a new field that is different from that of dedicated video game systems. The first theme will be health, and Nintendo plans to capitalize on being an entertainment company in devising a unique approach of its own.

“In addition, Nintendo strives to utilize its abundance of character IP more actively, providing its IP with more exposure in places other than video games, while achieving a certain level of profit from its licensing business at the same time.

“With its mission to pleasantly surprise consumers and put smiles on the faces of everyone it touches, Nintendo will continue to offer new and unique propositions and contribute to the development of the home entertainment industry.”

New hardware platform/device for health/entertainment and more merchandising?

New hardware platform/device for health/entertainment and more merchandising?

I know my quality of life would drastically improve if they released more games for the WiiU, and utilised more of their 'dormant' IP's.  Basically they're saying that we'll see more of Dr.Mario while he tells us to eat more vegetables to reach a new highscore.

Just googled 'upcoming Wii U games'.  Google could hardly turn out anything that wasn't first party or small indy crap.  First party didn't even go beyond Bayonetta 2, MK8, SSB and some vague promise of Zelda U...  Seems like Watchdogs is all the third party support we can hope for.  Sad

Wow, from Nintendos' financials, Wii U sales breakdown

"1.29m were sold in America (down year-on-year from 1.52m), 890k in Japan (down from 920k) and just 55k (from 1.01m) throughout the whole of Europe."

Europe is boning them. I blame the Russians.

So.... for Nintendo "an annual overall loss of 23.2bn yen (£134m), down from a slim profit of 7bn yen (£40m) last year."

And it's splashed all over the front page of every fucking website on the internet as huge news. Meanwhile Sony recentely announced losses of $1 billion and no fucks were given. Three downward revisions for Sony, a $500 million profit expectation turned into a billion of losses. No fucks given. This is why the internet sucks.

Cause we follow video game websites and all of Sony's troubles come from places that have nothing to do with video games. Nintendo is only a video game company.

Maybe you're not interested or just forgot to mention it, but X is coming as well.  Between these few games, and the ones that have been released I feel my purchase of the console was warranted.  I'm still upset that hardly anything is coming out, however.  A lot of us are.   broken heart

Still, there should be more room for objectivity from the press. Like GG said, Nintendo can eat up much more than that for god knows how many years and still keep on truckin' along. Many of the things we read seem like gross clickbait attempts more than actual informed analysis. I have all but stopped reading practically all gaming media outlets for a while now because of this. I just cherry pick one or two pieces from whenever I can find them that are of interest to me, instead of trying to gobble up all of the stuff that comes up on a daily basis. I'm too old for this shit. LOL

Just in case anyone had any doubt who the king was. I saw this on gaf:

When you add up total consoles sold:

NES (62m) +

SNES (49m) +

N64 (33m) +

GCN (22m) +

Wii (101m) =

267m total over five consoles and 30 years

(avg. 53.4m per console, 8.9m per year)

vs.

PS1 (102m) +

PS2 (155m) +

PS3 (80m) =

337m total over three consoles and 19 years

(avg. 112.3m per console, 17.7m per year)

Long live the king.

This.

Microsoft lost $4 billion on the Xbox and no fucks were given either, according to some analysts they've lost $3 billion on the 360 and masked it with cellphone patent royalties. No fucks given again.

Gamers want to exist in this tunnel visioned view of what counts or does not count. They're happy with the hardcore PS4, so it's viewed as some sort of messiah that can - single handed - offset any loss Sony makes. When in reality Sony is like a lumbering giant walking in the desert having it's limbs chopped off piece by piece, yet still limping along. Nintendo losing £134 million over a year, which is chump change, somehow headlines every gaming site today because gamers don't like the Wii U. A few days ago Sony goes from expecting $500 million profit to losing a billion and it barely registers, that's a $1.5 billion difference.

As long as gamers get their games, they'll just cherry pick whatever evidence they can use to prove their existing point of view.

Which is perhaps what I'm doing now. cool Except I'm getting no games Nyaa

Yeah if it's both parts, well take the price of two blurays and add it together, if it's cheaper than it's a good deal. Very good movies and great story.
