I got it backwards. Deluxe Digital Promotion. If you bought the Wii U Deluxe/the one with the bigger hard drive you were put into a program where you get 10% credit back. Once you earn $5 worth of credit you can get a redemption code to use it in the eShop. Good times.

Everyone forgot about it because for 2 months there wasn't much to buy in the eShop.. Just make sure you register your account if you have not already done so - DDP.Nintendo.com .

If you haven't done it yet don't worry your old purchases should be added retroactively.

Hmmm IGA and GG have both written novels in response to what I wrote. Since I don't care enough to respond to all of it back allow me to say this. Sometimes when I make posts on my phone I get away from saying exactly what I want to simply because this small screen makes it hard to type and I'm happy to have even written a sentence. Therefore my points are lost for the sake of brevity. So forget all of that other stuff and replace it with this.

I just want Nintendo to make a game, aside from 2 mini game collections, on the Wii U that justifies the need for the tablet and/or dual screens.

P.S. This took me 20 minutes to write because touch screen phones and I don't get along.

Now I'm writing on a touch screen. I have already seen and played more than enough to justify the wii u pad and I fundamentally disagree with this same notion that we had on Wii that there has to be one big huge title that shows without a shadow of doubt why it's useful or not. The U pad is added functionality a toolkit that can be used in many different ways, it's added value to many experiences, the system is powerful enough to produce great looking and playing games and if a game is great I'm hardly going to quibble if the touch screen use doesn't categorically BLOW ME AWAY EACH AND EVERY TIME. I could write a whole article on what the second screen and the console itself has brought to my experience, both in terms of gaming and other functionality. In fact I'm using its excellent touch screen internet app right now to write this whilst watching a movie on the big screen.

It's great for gaming too and I only own about 5 games it's added a lot to the experience. Overall with games + other features it's easily justified it's existence to me and I use it almost every day, even when not playing games. By the time Mario Kart comes out in Spring next year it'll have a great library too.

EDIT - this GAFFER nailed it - "By that logic the DS is a piece of shit because a lot of games just use the bottom screen as a map. Not every game needs to use system features in the best way possible to justify said system features existence. It's great when they do, and Nintendo should certainly be trying to do so as much as they can, but a game that doesn't use it isn't damnation."

Stop your whining and start using a computer with buttons. Sometimes I really hate technology, finding new ways to do shit we could do before, but only worse. Like touch screen typing.

And a novel really? Maybe GG, but mine was not that huge!

UK bans porn?!

http://www.torontosun.com/2013/07/23/online-porn-banned-in-britain

Online porn will be blocked by default by every british ISP, unless the single user decides to "opt-in" and expressly request the deactivation of family filters for his household. Suddely lying about porn to the wives in Britain has become a lot mharder, as they simply need to make a call and see if their husbands have deactivated family filters.

GG get out now!!!

Interesting EA financial info

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=632301

So EA made money, who cares. What is interesting is the breakdown of how they made money as it gives us great insight into where this industry is headed.

Q1 FY14 revenue by platform

Xbox360 256 million

PS3 238 million

PC 298 million

So PC the big money maker for EA. Well thats surprising. They still make more on all consoles combined but PC doing very well for them.

How about digital sales, here is their breakdown:

Digital revenue breakdown for the quarter:

Full game download: 37 million

extra content: 177 million

subs/ads/other: 61 million

mobile/HH: 103 million

Look how much money DLC or Free to play extra  content makes them. Tons.  Here is digital revenue by platform:

PC 144 million

Console 131 million

Smart phone/Tablet 90 million

Feature phone/other 13 million

PC leads again, this time more than all consoles combined.

This from their slides

Digital Revenue: Increased by 17% year-over-year to $378 million, and accounted for 76% of Q1 revenue

BTW EA treats Wii u as if it doesnt exist.

Damn, all that revenue for EA.  it's a wonder they don't go into the console business.

then again, I'd guess they would lose a ton of sales that way, limiting themselves to one console.
