IGN said:

And why this latest sequel won't support online play.

IGN: One of the things I think Pikmin 2 really drove home was the element of cooperative gameplay, and just multiplayer in general, allowing more than one player to play together. Can people expect the same from Pikmin 3? Perhaps even online Pikmin?

Miyamoto: Everyone asks that question! [laughter]

So in the case of Mario Kart, we did have online multiplayer, and that's something that... You have to be very careful that you don't drop frames as you're trying to sync up with other players over what could be a very great physical distance, over the internet. But in the situation of Pikmin, for example, since you would have lots of individual, small creatures, the Pikmin, whose every movement and location is going to be really important in the game, it would be very difficult to sync up over an internet connection.

So I think what we've decided to do is focus on the single-player and local multiplayer aspects, which are really fun. But unfortunately, no online multiplayer for Pikmin 3. But the co-op local multiplayer is really fun.

What a complete BS answer. LOL

I'm still COMPLETELY baffled how they didn't show off the biggest most commercial game in existence these days at E3 for the Wii U....just WHAT THE FUCK? If they went out of their way to make dumbed down ports for the fucking WII, then why would they NOT make COD on the Wii U....a new powerful console where they could do some cool new tricks and possibly even make the best version of the game?

Makes no sense.

It is confusing, indeed. I don't understand the logic behind it.

I've been mostly playing Max Payne 3. Finished it this past weekend, excellent game.

Can you elaborate on your impressions for the game. I haven't really been paying attention on it. Does it just play like the originals but with cover shooting? Are there any more elements or is it a straight up shooter? Is the atmosphere the same noir comic book vibe etc?

Why? They don't look like anything above normal.

For Vita? The aliasing and texture detail seem above other stuff on vita and the characters are all posed and it's by Ubisoft who are the kings of posed, uprezzed bullshots.

aspro said:

It has to be Actvision's call, just as at the SOny conference they did not show anything of the Vita exclusive.

Theory is on GAF that MS paid them to not talk about other versions.

What I heard and I do not know if this is crap or not, but what I heard at E3 was that Nintendo wanted everyone to only show and focus on games coming out in the first 6 months of launch. With regards to COD and Wii or Wii U, the Wii versions were often not talked about and hidden in development only to be revealed at the last minute. Sometimes the first you saw of the games was when they were released and some forumer could grab pics and video. They were treated in the worst possible way - the only really good one was MW4 because it happened after Treyarch had experience with the engine and they had ample time to port it properly.

Treyarch has remained tight-lipped over the possibility of a Wii U version of Call of Duty: Black Ops II, yet Nintendo Gamer magazine has run a preview confirming the blockbuster sequel is indeed on the way to Nintendo's newest hardware.

At E3 last week Treyarch studio head Mark Lami told GamesIndustry: "I think it's interesting to think about all the platforms. Just in general, that's part of my job as a studio head, working with Activision on assessing where our creative can live. How can people experience it? We obviously have been a Nintendo developer for many years and have created many Call of Duty games on the Nintendo platform. [Wii U] is clearly a more powerful platform than its predecessor and... they have obviously a unique controller and interface."

Lamia also sounded excited by the Wii U Pro Controller.

"And they announced a Pro Controller which appears to be a controller that would be really good for first person shooter games. It just so happens that's what we specialize in. So that's an interesting development and then they have that touch display device and you think about the kinds of things you might be able to do and - without getting into specifics - I absolutely have given it consideration and thought. We're game developers and it's a new piece of hardware and technology, so we're always thinking about that stuff."

Pressed for confirmation of a Wii U version, Lamia said: "It's difficult to say because it's something we're not talking about. I'm intentionally being elusive because we're not talking about it!"

However, leaked images from Nintendo Gamer magazine appear to have confirmed that Blops 2 is coming to Wii U.

In-development Wii U games went unannounced at E3

Says GameTrailers' Shane Satterfield

Activision on Wii U support:
Wii U, coming off E3, still has a lot to prove. While some core third-party titles were shown, the level of support probably isn't where it should be yet. One game that could make a big splash on Wii U is Black Ops II, which Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia believes is coming to the new console this holiday and "should contribute to incremental sales of the title and also the Wii U console." GamesIndustry International caught up with Activision and developer Treyarch last week at E3 to find out more.

Activision has never been one to throw its support behind new platforms right away, Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg reminded us. "We take out time to get our ducks in a row before pulling any trigger. We don't have announcements today but we will be supporting Wii U," he said.

It's certainly easy to imagine how Call of Duty on Wii U could add in some extra functionality for checking maps and weapons among other things on the Game Pad touch screen.

Hirshberg was reticent about diving any deeper into Wii U discussion, but he wanted people to remember that "we were there with second screen enhancements with Call of Duty Elite last year and one of the primary uses we're finding comes through the tablet and through the smartphone."

He continued, "People are using it as that sidecar as they're playing... People are using it in that between games way that I think now you're seeing that kind of rhetoric with the controller from Nintendo as well as the SmartGlass presentation from Microsoft. So it's great that others are jumping on board and enhancing that idea but it's something we were doing last year with Elite."

I'm gonna go hobo later this week.  I'm thinking of picking up Ghostbusters(never finished it) and Dead Space 2.   I've got to finish some games this summer.

I now own two games I never thought I would. One, because I never had the means before TO play it. The other, I just never thought I would have the slightest interest in.

Check the Topic to see what I am talking about.

Aspro would be very happy about one (I think it was Aspro that played it).

Quite a few of you would be very pleased with the Second one (the one I bought today).

Does the second one involve tits?

There's no such thing as too many tits in a game.

I played last night Lord of the Rings Online to see once and for all if there was a way for me to click with an MMO. I had played it before but only for a bit (up to a Lv 7 or so character). now that the game is available on Steam I redownloaded it and decided to give it a fair shot.

Also installed the cRPG mod for Mount and Blade: Warband. It's a multiplayer mod that essentially adds persistent online characters with RPG stats and a sense of progression. I can't kill shit right now! D: I get thrown in the battlefield armed with a club and wearing a straw hat against guys clad in full plate armor and riding war horses. I feel like a peasant. Cry I might see if I can record some of my dying shenanigans tonight for you to laugh at.

Eurogamer ZombiU Preview said:

Here's the rather wonderful central conceit. You play as an unremarkable survivor of a zombie apocalypse, setting out from a central safehouse hub on various missions. Should you be bitten by a zombie, that's it - game over, you're dead. The player then respawns back in the safehouse as a completely different survivor. You'll venture out again, hunt down your reanimated predecessor, put them out their misery and retrieve their inventory to allow you to continue exploring the city. Similarly, any friends killed while playing the game on another machine will also pop up as a zombie and attempt to rip chunks off you.

You'll inch forward through the game bit by bit, collecting new items to open new areas, Metroid-style, before eventually being killed and kicked back to the safehouse. It's a non-linear relay race with a focus on surviving just a few minutes longer every time. And in that regard its primary influence couldn't be more obvious: Dark Souls.

Yes, ZombiU is essentially a first person survival horror take on From Software's brilliantly menacing two-steps-forward, one-step-back template. And Ubisoft Montpelier's Gabrielle Shrager is not ashamed to admit it.

"It's my all-time favourite game," she happily confesses.

"Real immersion and real fear comes from the fact that you're going to lose your stuff, your abilities, your character."

-Gabrielle Shrager, Ubisoft Montreal

"Real immersion and real fear comes from the fact that you're going to lose your stuff, your abilities, your character. In Dark Souls you're sh****** yourself the whole time from every angle. If we can even get close to that sensation of 'oh god, run away, run away, run away'... you know how the enemies in Dark Souls will chase you for hours - that epic AI? And without a single word being spoken in-game. That's true immersion.

"That's a huge benchmark for us, and it's a major inspiration for sure."

The game's other key influence is rather more predictable: Left 4 Dead. Like Valve's much-loved multiplayer shooter, ZombiU's enemy placement will differ every time you play, in an attempt to keep things unexpected, replayable and, crucially, scary.

"There are basically two keys to scaring people: surprise and timing," explains Shrager.

"There's no way you can expect to instill fear in a player if you have scripted events that appear twice in a game. So you won't see the same surprise twice [in ZombiU]. The level design changes every time.

Dark Souls like gameplay? LFD design?

I never played the original Max Payne games so I really don't know how MP3 compares to them. It's a straight up shooter with a fair amount of emphasis on cover. There is also a very strong focus on story telling cut-scenes.

Eurogamer Project P-100 Preview
Project P-100's the debut Wii U offering from Platinum Games, and it's the latest title from amaze-o action director Hideki Kayima. It's also, for me, the game of E3 2012, no questions asked. No questions whatsoever.

Okay, maybe one question: what is it? It's a muddle of familiar elements, actually, jumbled together to form something entirely new. It's isometric, for starters, taking a viewpoint so often reserved for strategy and filling it with arcade excitement. In the babbling team of happy little superheroes you move around en masse, you'll spot the top-heavy bodies and pointy legs of Viewtiful Joe, along with a little of Pikmin's crowd control mechanics.
Get into a rumble and that corrugated hit-pause comes right out of Bayonetta and indeed any good fighting game, as does the surprisingly technical insistence on blocking and dodging if you want to stay alive. P-100 takes all of these ideas, though, and turns them into something both fresh and completely natural. Nice work, Platinum.

I guess it's a brawler at heart: aliens are invading the game's colourful Jetsons-tinged world, and it's up to you to save the day. You do that not as a single hero, mind, but as a whole crowd of them; a bunch of silver age misfits who enter the action with teeth gleaming, masks covering their eyes and - occasionally - a toilet cistern wedged on their heads.
Like Viewtiful Joe, it's easy to look at the screen and be completely overwhelmed by what's going on. Once you're playing, though - guided by each little piece of feedback, from a recharging battery to the rumble of a successful attack - you might as well be right inside the game world, stuck on the other side of the screen dodging between retro-futuristic roadsters, taking on bubble gum card invaders and filling the air with shards of sci-fi armour that mingle, in a rather pretty manner, with clouds of drifting cherry blossom.

Excited? This is the star of Nintendo's line-up, if you ask me: the game I'll be keeping my eye on most intently during the countdown to the Wii U's launch. It took just fifteen seconds of a ten-minute demo to fall in love with what Platinum's created. The rest of the time was spent with the realisation that Christmas suddenly feels like a very distant prospect indeed.

Wait............. so it's not a Pikmin like strategy game. According to this preview it's...... a beat em up??!

And it's this guys game of E3?

I somehow also assumed it was some kind of rts-action game ala pikmin or battalion wars, but then I also remember Agnates mentioning Viewtiful Joe in relation to it.  Now it makes sense.

So I think with Pikmin 3, P100, possibly even Zombi ... WiiU seems to have a decent launch line-up.

The Remedy games relied very heavily on the bullet time mechanic.  Jump into a room in slo-mo, do a 360 turn gunning every mofo down before they have a chance to shoot at you.  But I think the NYC setting is probably a lot darker than sun-drenched Sao Paolo, though I haven't seen MP3 in action yet.  The story in MP1 and 2 was told comic book style with good voice-overs.  It had a very nice b-movie/film noir vibe about it.
