Anyone see the Rayman Legends Wii U commercial? Whoa is that what the graphics are like in Rayman Origins?
After seeing the NFC I think this might be the thing that will attract third parties into giving support. Look at it, we all like little gimmicky game related crap whether we admit it or not. Some of us are not inclined to buy this stuff individually but what Ubisoft said before makes sense in that they said they could see a future where you buy a little toy in a game shop with a code to download the game. It keys in with what we hear today about Wii U games being availible as digital downloads at launch too and you can buy them from stores.
Companies will love the opportunity to sell us more pointless crap and people younger than us will pester their parents to buy them it too, which might drives sales of the Wii U sku. I can see NFC as being a bizarrely positive move for them.
Michaia from Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn is now a download character in Fire Emblem 3DS. Only now she has massive boobs and a see through outfit as well as massive come-to-bed eyes.
Project X Zone
This is how Nintendo explain their recent loss and turnaround plan:
During the last fiscal year, we were confronted with the steep appreciation of the yen, significant price drop of the Nintendo 3DS in order to make the course correction and place it back on the originally expected sales track, and the failure to launch much-anticipated titles in a timely fashion in the first half of the term. Under these circumstances, we posted an operating loss for the full year, which was the worst result since we went into business in the video game industry. We feel greatly accountable for the result as executive officers.
Today, I would like to tell you about our prospects on how Nintendo will be able to enjoy a turnaround for this fiscal year.
Here are the sales forecasts of our major hardware and software on which our financial forecasts are based for this fiscal year.
The sales numbers of the hardware and software sales for the Wii include those for the Wii U to be launched in this year-end sales season. Also, please note that the numbers of sales of the software for the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U include those to be downloaded through the digital distribution we plan to implement in this fiscal year, but exclude the Virtual Console software or download-only software.
As for the software sales as our revenue base, we expect an increase in the sales of the Nintendo 3DS from the last fiscal year. From this fiscal term, we will be in the harvest time for the software sales of the Nintendo 3DS. However, we have a more conservative sales forecast than that of the Nintendo DS for the third year, considering the fact that the momentum of the Nintendo 3DS overseas has not reached our anticipated level, unlike the domestic market.
On the other hand, we think that the software sales of the Nintendo DS and the Wii will rather significantly decrease due to the small number of games scheduled in this fiscal year. We don’t anticipate that the software sales of the Wii U can compensate for the decrease in those of the Wii because the Wii U will be launched as late as in the holiday season and then the total unit sales of the Wii U will be limited in this fiscal year. This is one of the reasons our business performance inevitably fluctuates when we change platforms.
Rayman Legends better be coming to PS3!
Times zones how do they work?
It does not make sense because you either lack the intelligence or I am bored and just trolling. Probably the latter.

WTF? Wii U controller now has IR control?
"Polygon sources familiar with the Wii U say that the tablet has a cable coming out of the bottom of it because it is a dev kit, which currently is only available wired. The wireless version of the dev kits, we're told, won't be released to developers until June."
I was thinking this but someone else wrote it and I'm lazy:
Fear not! In the unlikely insidence that it doesn't, Sony will promptly clone it for you ... in essence

How likely is Rhythm Thief to go extinct? I heard a lot of people having trouble finding it even as it was launched. Getting very tempted to buy it full price.
___
Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
You could probably wait till X-mas and you'd still be able to get a copy? Maybe.
Ideaman on GAF confirmed Rayman Legends Wii U before the trailer leaked so it seems he is fairly reliable as a French journo with access to Ubisoft. He just said about Wii U:
"This is NOT the final & definitive controller. The one used in this trailer isn't the "updated" model."
Polygon said the trailer actors were using devkit controllers and it was only meant as an internal video trailer.
It could get ridiculous depending on how many NFC objects are used. Maybe Nintendo will put a limit on it so publishers don't rip people off?
I can see some publishers loving the NFC on Wii U, it will give them an excuse to flog cheap crap. Anything that can boost 3rd party support is a good thing though right?
But that only boosts the kinds of games they never had problems boosting, kid games.
No, not at all. Imagine Call Of Duty, instead of getting the game on DVD with case and instructions you go to Gamestop and get a pair of COD Branded Night Vision goggles with an NFC chip in it. Go home and place it near the Wii U controller and the system auto connects to the internet and auto downloads your copy of the game.
Instead of many small NFC items, one larger, more valuable model.
Now imagine it for other games.
And American women too.
In other news... is Ubisoft the worst fake leakers in gaming PR or what?
Yeah they did the same thing with the Red Steel 2 trailer. They had the same 'made for internal' purposes excuse too. It's a decent tactic though, to get attention for a game.
^ and remember before that the FTP site they left open with all the concept art for Prince of Perisa, Splinter Cell and some jungle game?
Exactly.
Shame-us went completely postal. I don't know wtf happened to that guy. He was once one of my best friends on Gamespot, always totally cool and kind of a voice of reason. Then he turned into a bitter angry politician and kind of started to remind me of Grammaton-Cleric. Strange.
