Holy crap. Vita really is bombing.... reminds me of the 3DS. Oh well, they just need to reduce it by $100, bundle it with a memory card, give a bunch of free games to early adopters, and then they'll have a hit. Oh and they'll probably need to reduce the price of the games as well. But I tell you it'll be huge.
Let it have a viking funeral! Don't shy away from games, keep playing them until the 360 dies in a blaze of glory and guts. Only then will it be able to reach valhallah and join its fallen brethren.
Robio, 3DS second week sales were 209k. That is almost 3x as much as the Vita.
Also remember software. 3DS is selling because of the holy Mario, Kart, Monster Hunter trinity. They still have Monster Hunter 4, a new Pokemon, Resident Evil, Kingdom Hearts, probably a 2D Mario and more. What does the Vita have that will sell Monster Hunter, Mario, Pokemon numbers?
Valhallah is a sham. They only put you there so you can get eaten by a giant wolf and serpent once Ragnorak comes.
But at least you get to eat and drink for free before getting eaten. Freeloading Odin before the end of times.
I do not want a Vita, but, dammit, I do want that Uncharted game. How long until Sony ports it to PS3?
Well judging on how long it took for Peace Walker and the God of War Portables to be ported, I'd say you have a year to go.
Yeah I was being sarcastic. Sorry I know that doesn't work well online.
Vita is doing bad, no question. Long term who knows. Monster Hunter saved the PSP and it could do it again with the Vita. In the meantime though I hope Sony has lots of extra toilet paper and plungers on hand for their corporate offices.
I can wait.
Ragnorak is not the end, once the fire started by Surtr ends, there will be a new world. A new beginning under a new and just God. That god will be known as Iga.
Monster Hunter is pretty much a 3DS exclusive. Even if MH4 is ported over that will still not matter anymore. They need an exclusive and I just do see Sony capable of making a game with Mario-like sales. Capcom saved Sony's ass with Monster Hunter, maybe someone else will do it with the Vita, but I just don't see it. But then again no one saw the PSP resurrection coming in Japan. Maybe the Vita will be more successful in the West with Call of Duty and co.
I honestly can't even begin to predict how it will do in the West. Judging by all the media pre-release hype there are two schools of thought. One that says it's an incredible machine and what every gamer wants (ie IGN) and the other side that says "fuck the Vita, handheld gaming is dead. Go play with your iPhone."
After playing more of the original tracks in Mario Kart 7, I think that Mario Kart needs to become Nintendo Kart and have tracks based on other Nintendo games like Zelda, Metroid et al too.
There are only so many mushroom type levels or snow levels you can do. I don't find the new tracks in this game to be particularly good compared to Double Dash or Wii.
No way Vita was going to come off good this holiday in Japan given the 3DS price cut and new games.
Been picking up games left and right during the sale, bought and gifted, a smorgasbord of genres. Gothic games (2 and 4), Frozen Synapse, Patrician III, Sins of a Solar Empire, Cthulhu/Breath of Death, BG2 and IW2.
Yay backlog! D:
By the way, I don't know if anyone else has heard this new rumor, but if it's true Sony may end up getting raped for it's US Vita launch. Apparently Apple wants to launch the iPad 3 on Steve Job's birthday - February 24th, one day after the Vita is scheduled to launch. Nothing is official mind you. The launched date was originally speculated for March, which in fact was never official, though production timelines certainly suggested that was true. The rumor mill is hard at work on this one though, I've seen the story pop up in a lot of place. And god knows Apple loves to jerk off all over Steve Jobs, so it's completely within reason.
