I get that, but the Dutch Liberalism part, I did not. Explain that.
I cannot explain it because doesn't make any sense. You are correct.
The rest of the world considers the Dutch to be a very liberal people due to what we learned from watching Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo.
True, the fact that they let parts of it be filmed there means they must have absolutely no moral standards at all.
Yeah, I get that, but Liberalism is a economic and political term. Which means that the government should not be involved with the economy and let people sort it out. Helping people would only make them lazy and become beggars and it is not the fault of the rich that they are rich.
VVD a right wing party is like that. They are called liberal. Then you have left winged parties like Liabour, green and Socialist party that say the government needs to create an even playground and poor people need our assistance. Doing nothing means the rich get richer and poor get poorer. They are called social democrats or socialists.
So I've been going over the Nintendo 2010 conference thread looking for 3DS games.
Games that were promised that we got already include DOA, SFIV, OOT.
RE Revelations is still being made - one of the rare signs of a 3rd party putting some decent effort into things. Driver Renegade still coming.
Splinter Cell was a sucky port.
Games that were gimped: MGS 3D
Apparently an original MGS game was mooted, but never showed up.
Saints Row Drive by was promised but was never actually developed at all for 3DS. Ninja Gaiden is MIA and is very early in development. Assasins Creed 3DS might be cancelled for all we know. Contra 3DS? Where? Kororinpa 3DS where? Bloodrayne the Shroud? Boy and His Blob? Dragon Quest was promised, an all new Final Fantasy, Chocobo racing, Kingdom Hearts has gone fairly dark but I think its still being made. Warner bros promised an original Batman game.
De Blob 2 was on the 3DS game list, shame it never made it as it's a really fun game.
Halo Anniversary looks exactly like the original, just in HD. I'm not sure if that's good or not.
I started playing Metroid: Other M finally. Not too far in, but I'm liking it alot actually.
Maybe I need to see more, but I'm not seeing what was so incredibly horrible about the story so far either. Many people made it sound as if they had completely ruined Samus as a character, and Metroid's atmosphere to the point of possibly destroying the series, and so far I'm just finding this to be hilarious doom-mongering. Sure, it could and should have been better, but up to this point where I am--about to enter zone 1---its pretty decent. Its more cheesy than horrible, mostly due to the way they portray Samus, through story and her character model without the suit on, as being a petite little bitch who is more of a follower than the strong leader she has always been. But I do like the way they have her meeting up with Galactic soldiers and working together here..adds a different element to things.
I'm kind of surprised Team Ninja didn't design her to look more like some big-titted bitch from Dead or Alive, and instead went for an almost 15 year old nerdy high school girl look.
Gameplay speaking, its a nice throwback to badass old school side scrollers, like Super Metroid and Castlevania, but done with a modern twist with modern technology behind it, much like Shadow Complex on the Xbox. The atmosphere is great, and there seem to be plenty of hidden items and powerups. My main complaint of the game is what I knew it would be--the controls. I just don't see why seem to have purposely limited you to using only the remote held sideways, then force you to switch ackwardly to 1st person at times by pointing at the screen. Seems like a Nintendo "gee, look how simple our controls are" gimmick more than actually trying to design the controls to be as good as possible. Instead of using A to go to morph ball mode, 1 to shoot, and 2 to jump, they could have let us use the entire Wii controller and had movement mapped to the analog stick, morphball to C, shoot to A, jump to B, etc...and let you push Z to go into 1st person with the remote already aiming at the screen. That would have been much more natural.
Or they could have said fuck the ultra simple pointer controls, and just let us use the Classic Controller with 1st person done the regular way.
Graphically, it looks good, but not as good as I would have thought for a Team Ninja game. I don't know if it was a design choice or not, but the art has almost a vintage look to it, especially on creatures with very limited colors and detail. cutscenes are some of the best on Wii, but in-game graphics could have been better.
So I'm liking it so far. I wouldn't mind at all if they let Team Ninja have another go at this on the Wii 2, with improvements to all the problem areas in glorious HD.
I dedicate this post to my girlfriend, without whom, I would have never been pissed off enough to go out and buy a new Wii.
What am I reading here?
Are you still playing Wii on an HDTV? I love the controls in this game, really simple yet effective. I was skeptical about the auto aim but it really works well I think. Obviously the art is nowhere near as good as Retro Studios but its still pretty good. I really like the game a lot.
The character and creature design is much better than Retro's, the space pirates actually look like they are supposed to look, the humans do not look like they have one chromosone pair extra and the creatures look like they do on the artwork.
I know...I should do previews and shit for major sites.
The controls work, but IMO they would have been better had the FULL wii controller been used, and not just the remote.
I don't think so, because for this kind of game I want to use digital control rather than analogue. If it used the remote and chuk setup then you wouldn't be able to use the d-pad to move.
One rogue Heroes of Ruin 3DS screen. N-Space action RPG
How is N-Space even still in business when they haven't done much of anything this entire generation?
They've been making DS games, a few of them are Call of Duty titles.
Now I'm stuck in Metroid...need super missiles which I don't have to get through a door, and can't go back the way I came. WTF....
Who buys that shit on the DS?
Kids.
No, I am pretty sure they buy the 360 version.
