The usual excellent writing and voice-acting are certainly here with the same extraordinary level of detail given to the lore and universe of the game. It's also a very beautiful game graphically and with no texture pop-in makes it even moreso. Excellent level of detail in the graphics. I'm not that far into it yet but I can tell the evironments are much more varied and look more lively then the first game. I also heard you can buy a pet space hamster to put in your cabin on your ship. Raven should like that.

I so rather be playing Mass Effect 2 than Dragon Age right now.

Heh, that's why I always find it funny when the PS2 gets praised as one of the best systems ever. It always felt like it didn't deserve it to me, because of the crap hardware (I went through 4 of them) and the fact that the other two systems were just BETTER, tech-wise.

I always felt it didn't deserve all the great games it got. But it had the image and the brand name. Hell I would have rather had the Dreamcast survive and get a bunch of PS2's support, honestly.

PS2 was very much like the Wii in that it was a "right time/right place" kind of console.  People wanted a DVD player and here comes the Playstation 2 that's as cheap as most other DVD players AND it plays games.  That's a no-brainer!!  Had the X-box launched a year earlier or the Gamecube launched with a DVD player Sony never would have run away with the market like they did.  Still would have likely been the #1 console and probably still killed the Dreamcast, but it never would have had 65% market share.

Good point....the DVD player was a huge deal. Sony foolishly thought they could recapture that with the Blu-ray player I think. Maybe they would have if they didn't sell it for DOUBLE the price of the competition. PS2 succeeded on that front because it was priced what it was expected to be priced, like the DVD player wasn't even there.

 Plus physical media for movies is a thing of the past thanks to Netflix et al.

Will do once I start it. Been itching for a good flight combat game, especially for the Wii. Last one I played was Ace Combat 6 on 360, so its cool that this is made by the same guys.

Cool! I'm looking forward to impressions for Sky Crawlers as well! I've been wanting this game since I heard about it.

I like your wii choices. I picked this up but haven't played it yet, just tried a bit of the tutorial. I've been dying for a good flight game too, I think this will be the best it will get for the wii. Flight  games just don't come out that much anymore.

Started Excitbots last night....what an odd but very fun racing game! Its very well made and has a great list of unlockables to keep you going. But more than anything, it really makes me wish for a real new Excitebike a la Excitbike 64! The structure of the races, the cups, is very similar. Definitely has the EXCITE vibe going on.

I loved Excite Trucks - if you see that in a bin definitely grab it. Excitebots is a lot of fun but I still like ET a bit more. (I loved jumping off of little hills and just sailing over or through trees scoring points and just managing to land on a path on the other side.)

Both great arcade racers.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day in the old NYC today, so I had to go out and enjoy it!

Had brunch with a friend whom I love more than any one else in the world. Went to a little place called Home in The Village. They make all their stuff from scratch, ordering only local grown, organic ingredients. I had a few Bloody Mary's, Sunny-Side-Up Eggs with Duck Confit and Butternut Hash with a side of well done Pepper Bacon. *Mmmmm... bacon!*

Grabbed a cup of coffee after that; Walked to Washington Square Park. Someone had wheeled an old Piano to the middle of the park and was playing an incredible selection of music, including "Something" from the Beatles! This guy was sooo incredibly talented, even the most hardened of New Yorkers were opening their wallets and throwing money in this guys bucket... which was literally spilling over with bills! Took a seat in the park, despite the temp being in the teens and listened for quite a while.

Returned to Starbucks again... had an... encounter with some... swedish women...(?) Had some quiet reading time with my Kindle. Chatted with a few people there and then made my way home.

Won my first few battles in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom when I got home, using my new favorite team...

All in all a very good day!

So what did you guys do/play this weekend?

 Mass Effect 2! Cause it's fucking awesome!
