I didn't really give it much thought until I compared it with my brother's which has much less wear and tear. It was quite a bit noisier. I have so many games that I haven't finished - if I lost the save files I might as well toss the games.
Has anyone had trouble with their drives? Mine is getting louder - I'm hoping I won't have to send it in soon.
Now that you mention it, mine has been a little louder than it once was. God knows this console has gotten more use out of it than any other in recent years, but it would really suck having to send this in for repairs. Actually, even with my soft mod I think I'm just as well off buying a new Wii and asking Nintendo to transfer my downloads to the new account.
My Wii used to be whisper quiet, but about two months ago it became much, much louder. In fact, it's louder when spinning a disk than my Xbox 360!
According to some on Youtube, there's a rather easy fix for it if you have the correct tool (tri-wing screwdriver), and don't mind opening your console:

That's one of the biggest arguements for soft modding. There's a program that you can install on the homebrew channel that will let you save all of your saved games onto an SD card. It lets me sleep at night at any rate... not that I really lose sleep over losing my saved game files.

I've had it. I'm giving up Zelda Phantom Hourglass and New Super Mario Bros (DS). I can't take it any more. I hate giving up on games that I've invested so many hours in. I just keep dieing in NSMBDS, it's pathetic. As for Zelda, I'm in that third trip to the Ocean Temple and I just don;t have the time in the hourglass to beat it. It sucks, as I started Oot and the original Zelda's at the same time and gave up on those as well. I played OoT to adult Link, just as I had on the N64 and just could not get motivated to go on.
So 2010 is off to an abysmal start. I've not beaten a single game yet.

If it's any solace, you go through the Temple of the Ocean King a total of 6 times throughout Phantom Hourglass.

By the way, a question to GG or anyone who has Endless Ocean (I know that's one of GG's favorite games), I'm thinking about getting the original, but should I just wait for the sequel?
Do you know what the difference will be and do you think the sequel will be better and I don't need the original?
The only way I would get the original over the sequel would be if its a bit cheaper and if you really want your own music when playing - I'm pretty sure the sequel took that out. Otherwise I think everything is an upgrade.
What a good day for news, great updates today guys. The game budget stuff is freaky.

I'm glad you're okay, Bugs. Get well soon, bro.
Thank you so much guys. It means a great deal to me. It was a harsh lesson and harsh lessons are the ones we remember the best. I'm happy i was able to live and learn from it.

This. Also in Europe you couldn't get the first one if you wanted to as it's long been sold out everywhere and i'm pretty sure they aren't going to press any more of it. But if you could it would be less than half the price of the new one and it's well worth trying so, yeah you could get the original to be sure if you would like the sequel as it seems to be a full-price game hence a bigger risk
Yeah I'm having a hard time finding both this game and NMH 2 even listed on some sites.
Cheapest I've seen is £25 on cdwow.
Huh - it's $30 on amazon canada which is what the first one was priced at. If they do a we ski and price the second one higher it is not going to sell at all.
Maybe that's why We Ski and snowboard sold half of what the first game did?

You need both is the answer and better snap up Endless Ocean now as its no longer being printed and some people are selling it used, for as much if not for more, then it cost at launch brand new.
The big difference with the sequel is simply that it has an all new ocean with new environments to explore. It has better graphics, wii speak functionality, co-op diving. More creatures, an overworld island as well as more story and characters, stuff to buy in a shop, stuff to collect. It seems to have improved the functionality of how everything works, simple but intuitive little things to make the game play better. Like being able to move around focused environments and not just zoom in. You can save your Pictures and share them via SD card.
Oh and the ocean in EO1 is persistent, in EO2 you get to trek around the globe, check out freshwater locations, even dive under the ice. And you can walk on land, with polar bears
Oh yeah like Monkey said in the first game you can listen to your own music via MP3s on the SDcard, not so in the sequel. And the sequel has music by Celtic Woman in EO2 and not Hayley Westernra.
We have a thread if you search for it on the forum page.

LOL how can you keep dying on NSMB DS? It's one of the easiest ones.
Steer well clear of the Wii one then, you won't make if off the first stage
As for PH, you do have time, use these handy tips:
1. When you are in the purple areas, time stands still so take the chance to look around on your map or scan your immediate surroundings with your boomerang for an advanced look.
2. You should have been marking your map with the exact route you went before so there should be no fiddling about on subsequent visits.
3. You should have new items from other dungeons which allow you to importantly take new shortcuts through the ocean temple i.e now you have bombs you can blow up walls and skip huge sections.

GT5 got delayed again. Really? I mean... do they even employ Project Managers at Polyphony Digital?
I guess it doesn't matter, it'll still sell like hot cross buns in Japan. Cost 60 million to make, so they only have to sell a million to break even.
