It's better than their terrible design before, but that's deadpan cliche web 2.0 right there. Zero originality.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileIGN still doesn't scale to fit my widescreen display like The VG Press does.
It is still turn based.
If you want action based FF, you need to check out Crystal Bearers.
I've never been a big fan of the originals, mainly due to the tank-like controls of the characters, but this one is totally different.
The flashlight mechanic works brilliantly. Where you point with the Wii-Mote is where the flashlight shines.
The Wii-Mote speaker is used as the static detector of the game to warn you of nearby paranormal anomalies or enemies. It also doubles as your cell-phone ear-piece. You put it up to your ear to hear incoming calls.
Your cell phone (which simply wouldn't have existed when the first came out) has a touch screen that leads to a camera, a GPS, and of course your phone, voice-mail and notes that you may have gathered.
I love the way you hold up your cell phone side-ways and need to keep a steady hand to take a good picture!
I love the way this game makes use of all of the features of the Wii. I love the amount of interactivity the wii-mote now allows. You need to throw your enemies off of you. You need to "pinch" objects between your thumb and pointer finger (A + B on the controller) to interact with them, then motion to use. ALL. VERY. COOL.
The psychological evaluation near the beginning of the game has you even nodding or shaking your head with the wii-mote!
All of this is EXTREMELY important to the game-play, as the more you PHYSICALLY interact with the game, the more you FEEL you are part of the world, and the more you get "into" it! AWESOME ! ! !
Extremely atmospheric. Totally perplexing. I LOVE the way your decisions "color" your world (sometimes literally!)... This is the type of game the Wii was MADE to play and SHOULD BE a resounding success for anyone who is able to or willing to play it!
It should go without saying, but if you own a Wii you owe it to yourself to at the very least PLAY this game!

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileI don't read the updates I just post them.
All I've seen so far is boobies...
I love the extreme charactatures of the Irishman and the French resistance guys.
When in black and white with the occasional splash of color here and there, the game looks good. When you free an area from the Nazis altogether, the color becomes downright vibrant! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the contrast effect! It's like Madworld with more than just the blood in color. The things that need to stand out REALLY stand out! I wish more games used this effect, it's just that cool!
It's like Assassin's Creed lite with the building climbing elements, but the burly Irishman storming like a bull through the streets of Paris to the sounds of 1940's music in the background... it gives it a feel all it's own and I like it. It's not GREAT so far, but I see a LOT of potential here if the game gets any sales at all (other than me)!
No regrets buying it here!

That's 2 of 3 games picked up today previewed for you guys. I'll get to Spirit Tracks eventually, but Bugsie did an excellent preview of it already today, so I don't feel it's quite as necessary to do it at the moment.
http://kotaku.com/5422026/famitsu-final-fantasy-xiii-misses-perfect-score-%5Bstory-spoiler%5D
This year, Japanese magazine Famitsu has awarded a perfect 40/40 score to three games: Dragon Quest IX, Bayonetta and New Super Mario Bros. Years-in-the-making and eagerly-anticipated FFXIII did not.
NOTE: I didn't post the rest of Kotaku's article because it may contain slight spoilers. It's not big deal but it may be upsetting to some.
Basically, one of the reviewers thought the game was too linear and offered nothing new. I guess because every FF game did something innovative but this one doesn't. Basically, I guess it plays it safe a bit. That's why.
Also, here's a better translation of the editor who gave it a 9:
"There's a few niggling issues like battle damage being difficult to see, and the screen being cluttered, but the amount of enjoyment this game offers more than makes up for it. You'll be drawn into the world with visual, aural, and story aspects. I have a bit of resistance calling this an "RPG-like RPG" however."
Here is the past Famitsu scores for FF games:
Final Fantasy I - 35
Final Fantasy II - 35
Final Fantasy III - 36
Final Fantasy Ⅳ - 36
Final Fantasy V - 34
Final Fantasy VI - 37
Final Fantasy VII - 38
Final Fantasy VIII - 37
Final Fantasy IX - 38
Final Fantasy X - 39
Final Fantasy XI - 38
Final Fantasy XII- 40
Final Fantasy XIII - 39

You've got it all wrong -- Famitsu does things in reverse order. Clearly the lower the score, the better the game.

Uh, they forgot Monster Hunter 3. They can't even throw FF a fricking bone and give poor Square a 40?
