As unpopular as it sounds, I'm not even interested in Muramasa anymore.  I think it's beautiful and one of the best looking games around, and would be fun to watch. . . but that's all.  I don't think the game looks like much fun to play.  The more videos I watch, the more I go. . . hmmmmm that doesn't look fun at all, this is just a pretty button masher.

Agreed Muramasa looks nice, but I am not sold on the gameplay yet.

for me sometimes "looks nice" is enough anything else is a bonus

i was reading an article on whether people should boycott shadow complex in light of orson scott card's backwards opinions on gay rights and i read that the guy who composed the music for the entire dragon quest series (all 9 games) is an extreme right winger who denies the rape of Nanking (to me this is as bad as a holocaust denier).  i have to say this upset me somewhat.  i understand that people are entitled to "a job" regardless of their opinions and that one should be able to differentiate between the two but some opinions are just unacceptable (i would go as far as to say should be criminal)

Doesn't it depend whether the unacceptable opinions are incorporated into the work? If Shadow Complex was a game about denying gay rights I can see the problem.

It's an iffy subject because its something we enjoy so we overlook these kinds of things. Like Michael Jacksons music, enjoyed for a couple of decades before paedo allegations. Do we still like his music?

Yeah, but this situation is a bit different. The guy is not just having an opinion. Denieing the holocaust does not really hurt people. You just point at them and laugh. This guy campaigns against gay right. He actually steps on other peoples freedom. If you are against gay marriage, fine. No one is forcing you to marry a man. But that does not give you the right to force your believes upon someone else. If two consenting adults want to get married, it's their business and no one else.

So ask yourself do you feel comfortable giving money that might be used to trample on other people rights? The best suggestion I heard, is to offset the money he gets by donating some money to a gay cause.

Oh and Epic is not innocent in this part either. They knew what the Chair universe was about and they knew that the writer campaigns against gay rights. It's not like the universe is something super special, they could have taken their inspiration from thousands of other generic Sci-Fi novels/movies.

Oh and America the land of the free LOL

Did Epic really know beforehand of this guys views? And what is the monetary arrangement here between the writer and the work?

I guess you'd have to ask the people who have downloaded the game how they feel about it. I think most wont care as long as they get a good game, as gamers I think we/they overlook it as long as they can play what they want.

The stories are typical right-winged wet dream. Epic had to read the books, to ask for a license and do research for the game. From there is no big leap to find the authors opinion and his campaining against gay rights history.

There are many people working there, so one of them would have found out. So they should have known, and my guess is that they did know. The chance of them not knowing is pretty slim.

I always thought that Epic was more liberal.

JAPAN SOFTWARE SALES

Weekly unit sales of Square Enix's DS RPG Dragon Quest IX dropped below 100,000 units for the first since its July launch in Japan, as Nintendo's Tomodachi Collection took the top spot.

Sales of Dragon Quest IX fell to 79,000 units for the week ended August 23, according to
Media Create, down from the prior week's 127,000 units. The game has sold over 3.7 million units in Japan to date. The drop in sales pushed the game down from number one to number two on the weekly sales charts.

Taking the top spot was Nintendo's Tomodachi Collection for the the DS, selling 83,000 units for the week and 810,000 units to date. Released on June 18, the game lets users interact with their Wii-based Mii avatars on the DS (or create new ones), buying them clothes, feeding them, and generally keeping the Miis happy.

The Wii-exclusive Monster Hunter 3 from Capcom is edging closer to the million-units-sold mark in Japan, with 51,000 units sold this week, and 800,000 sold to date.

Games falling off of the list from last week include the Namco Bandai PSP game Tales of Vs., Nintendo's DS game Color Changing Tingle's Balloon Trip of Love, and Konami's Penguin no Mondai X: Tenkuu no 7 Senshi for DS.

Below are the Japanese sales charts for the week ended August 23:

This game is just not going to work in the PSP the same way it worked on the DS.  A lot is going to get sacrificed.  Sadly, it will also sell around 3 to 4 times the amount it sold on the DS.

This is so mean.

Japan - Konami attacks lonely men to promote LovePlus

If these girls were reaching out to give you a letter, would you take one?

That's exactly what Konami had these women doing, all in the name of LovePlus promotion. Here's what the letter above says.

"Hello, I'm Aika. I apologize for the sudden letter. Whenever I see you at this intersection every day, my heart starts beating fast. This is the first time I've ever felt this way. I don't know what to do. Even though I feel I should speak to you, of course I can't. So, I built up my courage and wrote this letter. I'm really sorry to suddenly bother you. I'd be happy if we could start by being friends."

You can check out more pics of the public attacks both here and here

Xbox 360 Not Even At Halfway Point of the Xbox 360's life cycle

 Microsoft's Aaron Greenberg said:

We feel that we're not even at the halfway point (of the Xbox 360's life cycle). That is something we believe in strongly. People have invested in these consoles, and we have massively connected communities and we have storage. I think what we did with the New Xbox Experience is a sign of what we want to do with the console.

The Xbox 360 has plenty of future.

If this holds true, the I give props to M$. I certainly don't need or want any new video game consoles anytime soon. I honestly hope this gen lasts until 2015. Happy

And the 360 chipset hope that next gen starts now.

They want to reboot with Natal, they said at E3 they were treating it as an all new console launch. I predict 360 Slim bundled with Natal. After Wii everyone wants to pimp their hardware for as long as possible to make money.

Not that I'm saying that's a bad thing, mind you.

Actually, with subsequent hardware revisions (Xenon-Zephyr-Falcon-Opus-Jasper-Valhalla), reliability should approach decent figures.

Microsoft Taking Action Against Those Who Buy and Play Halo 3: ODST Early

Kotaku wrote:

Microsoft is investigating how copies of next month's Halo 3: ODST went up for sale at a French retail store, officials told Kotaku.

"We are investigating a very small breach in our distribution process around the early delivery of ‘Halo 3: ODST' units," a Microsoft spokesman told Kotaku. "We are also investigating Xbox LIVE accounts that show activity related to ‘Halo 3: ODST' and will take action against those we believe have procured copies of the game illegitimately. We have nothing further to share at this time."

I think it's BS that M$ is going to "take action" (whatever that means) against gamers who play the game early. M$ should punish the retail stores for breaking the street date, not the gamers who bought it. Why not just disable XBL support for it until the official launch day?

PS3 Slim Vs. Xbox 360 Elite

Hmm, looks like PS3 Slim wins hands-down on features/price comparision.

I also think it's BS that M$ still hasn't incorportated WiFi into the 360 Elite. Seriously, WTF?

-----------

Did some updates.

Some Beyond Good and Evil 2 news. I've had to translate this from French.

I'll try and clear it up:

Our fellow-members of Gamekult contacted Ubisoft after the remarks of Laurent Detoc confirming the sequel has yet to get the go ahead. Our editor confirmed today that the development “follows its course” and that there has been “no interruption”. If that is official, the game remains on standby all the same.

Our fellow-members of Gamekult quite simply contacted Ubisoft more after the remarks of Laurent Detoc affirming qu' a continuation n' was not yet sour to be born. L' French editor affirms aujourd' today that the development “follows its course” and qu' it n' there have “no interruption”. If all that has the merit d' to be official, one remains on standby d' all the same; a confirmation in images…

 Yay!
