I loved that game too...but I despised this one part in the game where the game would actually slowdown and consistently cause you to fuck up jumps. It's also early in the game too - like just before the second boss.
My brother got right up to the end of that game legitmately. Never beat it, but he got up to the trench run.
The first one is also easier than the latter two.
I always thought that Stanley Kubrick was the most overrated director of all time. That movie is the grand example of what I use when he's brought up. Everyone says the movie is great. No one can tell you why. He comes off looking like a genius for making a movie that everyone is just too scared to admit confuses them and they don't understand.
I actually really like Kubrick. I just think that this one's a bit out of left field. I mean I "get" the movie and understand the ending (after looking it up online) as well as the "point" of using that style of story-telling, but it just falls flat due to it being so undeveloped.
The method of using sound and images to progress the story is very interesting and was probably VERY innovative for its time, but today it just hasn't aged well and has falled far too flat. Not to mention the actual story itself is far too loosely told.
I highly enjoyed A Clockwork Orange and enjoyed Eyes Wide Shut as well (despite its faults). But I'm sorry this movie is too much of a jumbled up mess for me to enjoy. It's the classic case of investing in something innovative and revolutionary that was too ambitious for the pursuer. Sorry but the aim of being "strange" and "mysterious" in storytelling was overshot and went straight to "arkward" and "confusing".
Well at least it isn't as over-rated as "Citizen Kane".

Why's it great? The cinematography, the colour, the sets, the soundtrack both with the use of music and images and the sound effects, and indeed the silence. The pacing is absolutely perfect except towards the end where it ended far too abrubtly for me and really shouldn't have just skipped ahead from when he kills HAL to when he goes out of the ship to investigate the obelisk. Other than that the film is damn near perfect. I've said why it's good, now why is it it bad? I didn't find it confusing at all either. But I thought MGS2 was pretty straightforward too.
C'mon Punk did!
Dear God, you're like the me of the movie world.
What's that mean?
...no really what do you mean?

That you both suck ass.
My mistake.
Awesome. The first one was the best, I didn't like the other two as much. There was the difficulty and I felt that they were less polished than the first too. Is there an option to recalibrate the scales? My brother too I had to do the trench run for him. He was so pissed off that it was I that completed the game for him.
You got further than me. There are some ones where I get stuck and just cant go on. The challenge modes yeah.
Did the updates, losts of Cursed Mountain stuff to read.
Thanks for the earlier updates Raven. That horse riding peripheral confirms that Zelda is going to be a hell of a lot of fun

peniswii?yes it's a prime example of a holy cow of a movie and also of a director (with very few exceptions). to be fair though, i didn't even like arthur c clarke's book so it wasn't a case of making a mess of a movie with a good book as the subject matter. the only thing i liked in 2001 (the movie) was the music and the use of music.
"a clockwork orange" is a much better film (and an even better book).

No way, 2001>>>>>A clockwork orange. I love both films but it's not even close. I will definitely say that the storytelling is a hell of a lot better in A Clockwork Orange, though, but even if everything but the shots were stripped away from 2001 I'd still prefer it. It's THE film where his cinematography contributes perfectly to the scenes for me. They work in ACO and in The Shining, and they actually take away from the humour in some scenes in Dr. Strangelove, but they're absolutely perfect in 2001 IMO.
Here's an idea. You might want to check out the Monster Hunter 3 thread today.
we should do a general film thread in the non-gaming forum. .
right now i am fixing to watch (some for the first time, some not) the films of Jim Jarmusch and get a better appreciation of his work on the whole. think i will start with ghost dog

Woo hoo! Dashboard update today. This is another thing I totally love about this gen., the ability for console updates. Unfortunately some things like Facebook, Twitter, and Last.FM will come out on the 360 later this year. I'm checking out some of the features of this update and really digging them.
Avatar Marketplace looks to have some cool stuff in it and I love how games now have unlockable things for Avatars. NXE loads faster and smoother. Gotta love that. Games on demand is up which you can purchase digital copies of 360 games. They seem a bit too pricey since they're digital copies but the idea is great and I'll probably get some for games I can't easily find the physical copy for. I haven't tried the new size reduced install feature but I sure will eventually and more space is always a plus. Gotta do some more playing around to check out all the other stuff in this update.
Too bad about GRIN, I thoroughly enjoyed Bionic Commando and felt it got a bum rap from reviewers as well as it just wasn't advertised well enough.
EDIT: Oh yeah and users can rate games. Awesome!
Facebook and twitter on consoles.
FINALLY
Jesus I saw facebook on DSi the other day. I didn't even bother to post the story.
So you are selective in what kind of crap gets put up in the news section. Here I thought all crap was equal.
