In all fairness, I was a bit heavy-handed with my GTA knocks... I guess I really never will "get it" but my position on videogame developers being some of the "Top Influential People in the World" still stands.
...then again I think athletes are overpaid, as are actors *irony* ...
...teachers are underpaid, children should remain innocent as long as they can...
...love at first sight still exists; there's a Happy Ever After...

Maybe there's a reason Nintendo is my favorite company and I don't (want to) understand the popularity of RockStar...

The poll was 4chan'd.  There's nothing to take seriously at all.
But hell, just ignoring that the list is a farce for a second and considering GTA creators in the Top 100 seriously for a moment, that's a damned farce in itself.  I think the quick test to see if someone's actually seriously influential is if it would have made a bit of difference if he died last year.  No?  Well there you go.

Also, did you guys see that new NIS PS3 RPG? I'm glad they're making a original RPG but I saw the screens and it don't look impressive. It really looks like a PS2 1.5 graphics. With games like Fallout 3 and FFXIII setting new standards, NIS's new RPG doesn't look to hot at all.. But hey, this is NIS so we'll see if gameplay triumphs over visuals.

Sega and Red Entertainment's popular Sakura Wars series has never seen release in North America, denying English-speaking fans of both tactical military action and dating sims an opportunity to experience the game. No more!
Today NIS America announced that Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love will be coming to North America this Fall, letting PlayStation 2 and Wii owners find love in between bouts of steam-powered mech battling. For those unfamiliar with the long-running series, the strategy role-playing game offers a chance to foster relationships with cute, doe-eyed anime ladies, as well as let off some steam in ground and air-based battles.
For followers of the Sakura Wars series, the North American localization appears to be based on Sakura Wars V, which landed on Japanese PlayStation 2s in 2004.
This is great news! Finally, NA gamers and RPG fans alike can play these classics! I've always wanted to play them. I hope they throw in that Sakura Taisen Columns spin-off in the games!
The PS2 is still alive and kicking, and ironically, has the better JRPGs still, LOL!

So Contra, is it a new game or what?
They haven't really made that announcement, and judging by the pictures I can't quite guess. Some of those screenshots look like old levels, and others look entirely original. They maybe going the route they took with Gradius Rebirth and take bits and pieces from old games, remix them and try to make something new out of it.
The only real detail thus far is that the game will go for 1000 points.
The sprites look cleaner though. Maybe a remix of old levels like you mentioned with cleaner sprites, and maybe a few new levels added, probably stripped from older Contra games that never were popular or Japan-only, and perhaps a few new playable characters.
And 1000 points? How much is that in Nintendo money? That's more than $10 right? That's a little steep.

Yeah that's $10. I don't think it's too bad. Mega-Man 9 was $10, plus additional costs if you want the extra features. Look at it like this, a 16 bit SNES game costs $8. An all new 16 bit game is only $2 more. I can live with it.
