You know what, it wouldn't shock me if they made RE5 for wii. I dont know what they will do with the co-op thing, but the story, game design, music, cutscenes is all in place, just like they like it.
You know it's funny. A year ago I was really REALLY hoping that Capcom would find a way to bring RE5 over to the Wii. And now. . . I'm really worried that they will.
Believe it or not alot of Resident Evil 4's animations are in Resident Evil 5 to. Oh and if you think their bad at cutting corners in 3D, then just wait until you see them in 2D.
I've been tellling peopel since day 1. YOU DO NOT WANT RESIDENT EVIL 5 ON THE Wii! Honestly the game will be severly gimped.
*Sigh* Honestly what happened here?
Capcom use to be the God of porting. They'd surpass the impossible by porting games that not only were said to not be possible on the hardware due to the medium capicity, but make it better then original version with better graphics, higher resolution, and even more extras packed in then before.
They created perfect
or even superior arcade fighting game ports.
In recent years? With the exception of Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 and Devil May Cry 4 for the PC...nothing. And well both of those had reasons. Resident Evil 4 HAD to get a good port for the PS2 because Capcom wanted to make the platform the main course for the game due to a change of heart, and Devil May Cry 4 for the PC was meant to "test the market" despite laugable marketing.
It all started with their shitacular ports of Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2 and XBox.
I mean they handed their games to Ubisoft for the PC who did NOTHING to the games while putting them on the platform.
Devil May Cry 3 ported to the PC with absolutely ZERO things changed from the PS2 version. Not even a texture upgrade.
Resident Evil 4 for the PC...doesn't support mouse and keyboard controls...
Then they started porting their games to the PC as well.
Lost Planet for the PC which had ridiculously high spec requirements for what it was and had the mouse controls focused on auto-aim!
Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. No graphical upgrade? Not even anti-analizing? What the fuck!? And it looks like shit on HDTV's! Was there a way to stop this? I know it's 16-bit color and all but still.
Resident Evil 4 to the Cell Phone....no comment.
And now this shit!
Oh how the mighty have fallen.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
lol
Good to meet u too man.
Wow Silent Hill sounds good....funny that suddenly Konami are bringing it to the Wii after years of claiming SH didn't fit on Nintendo consoles. All those games should have been on the Gamecube too. Idiots.
I like that they are taking the combat out. That has always been the worst part of the games anyway, so its not like you're missing anything. That's one thing they never got right and Resident Evil did; making combat fun. As clunky as RE was, the combat was always satisfying. SH is more of a thriller anyway, so hell with the combat there.
Carnage sassed Archie? What does that mean? LMAO
Madworld has gotten some low-ish scores, so is it really good or not? who's played it?
GG I haven't kept up on any gaming news at all lately, its all new to me.
Damn straight. I never understood why on the collectors' market the DC version was cheaper.
Oh and...
" Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Summer Games sold over 10 million units worldwide."
Holy Shit.
Remember RE4 was a GC exclusive that eventually went to PS2, PC, Wii and... was there a mobile phone version I saw? Capcom has always whored out their games.... except towards Nintendo platforms. Seriously four DMC games and not a single version comes to a Nintendo platform? Well I guess Okami and Chop Till you Drop are exceptions, but they will only do it when it makes "economic sense" which is PR talk for outsource to an external company, throw very little money their way and let them have their dirty way with it. Often years later.
RE5 probably will come to Wii and it will be shit, because they wont put any effort into it and it will be to make a quick buck.
In a gamespot RE5 thread Carnage said of Archie:
"But if a guy can either walk into a restaurant and enjoy the food on offer, or dive into its dumpster and enjoy whatever he finds, I view that as worth noting (such a person is a guy I don't pay an attention to) but not really something to get upset about."
And now he is known by us as the Hobo Gourmet. Steel is also a Hobo Gourmet, but dines out of toilet bowls
Madworld has actually got great scores, it's pegging with RE5 on metacritic. Mainly 9s or 8s. A few of us own it here, check the thread out. Only EDGE mag has lowballed it so far.
REmake to the Wii was forgiveable since it was such a good one. RE4 is one of the greatest game of all time, so having Wii-mote controls is pretty cool for it. And Okami needed a good second chance.
But then it started to get ridiculous with RE Zero being ported to the Wii. Japan only, but still, did that need to happen? And than they went to a all-time low with Dead Rising Wii.
Capcom has done many things right and great this gen, but they really need to take the PSP, PC, and the Wii more seriously.
We need more Zack and Wiki's not more ports.

Good that HOTD Overkill and Madworld are selling well. More from that SEGA interview:
VB: Can you talk about the Wii and what the challenges are in attracting that mainstream audience that has eluded so many third-party publishers?
SR: We’re in a fortunate position because Sega does incredibly well with a lot of its games on the Wii platform. We were confident about that platform right from the start. A number of publishers were less so. Sega has definitely taken the view that the Wii platform and the audience for the Wii fits firmly in the heartland of Sega’s consumer base. Sonic does incredibly well on those Nintendo platforms. And it’s great to work with Nintendo specifically on the Mario & Sonic games, which are great sports party games. It’s the perfect family mainstream game.
I forget sometimes that Secret Rings sold around 2 million and that the Wii Sonic games outperform the other versions. Mario and Sonic was a big gift to SEGA, that game is at what? Like over 5 million, maybe 6 million?
It's coming westwards too, as is REmake. And if rumours are true, RE2, RE3 and Code Veronica too OMG no.
I agree with you though, they are doing great things, just on certain platforms and not so well on other platforms. On PSP they are basically Monster Hunter, on DS, just Phoenix Wright and 3 of those were gba ports. On Wii, ah, well mixed I would say. On the three pillars of PS3/360/PC, awesome.
GG, I think a new avatar and sig for Archie are in order. A hobo sig/avatar combo should be nice, and we know he likes Turtles, so let's put the Hobo version of Shredder in it .
Yeah, I forgot about Monster Hunter, but here in the west, Monster Hunter is more like Cockroach Farmer. It's huge in Japan, but not here. So I guess I was speaking with the western market in mind. In that sense, Capcom's support for the PSP has been very poor.
I don't get it though, they started it off pretty well with a new Ghost and Goblins, Mega Man Powered Up, and really good ports of Street Fighter Alpha and Darkstalkers. What happened afterwards?
Maybe they're just to satisfied with Monster Hunter. All they need to do is bring out the same ol' game with a couple new features and Japan will eat it up, selling millions. Easy money for Capcom.

Yeah, just yesterday in that Monster Hunter western push story they said that MH has sold 8.5 million. They must be super happy with those sales. But I would have thought that that would push them to make more original PSP content, knowing that they could achieve that success. Just like I thought that their success with their two RE games would have pushed them for better original content.
To be fair though, Monster Hunter 3 is pretty big. On rails sucks for RE on Wii though, there is enough on rails at this point. Svensson claims that Spyborgs has had a big overhaul and he promised a reveal before E3 so we should be close to seeing its reinvention. After we hounded them on the Ask Capcom boards, I think there might even be a tone change, from saturday morning cartoon to 80s awesome cartoon maybe?
According to an article in the Financial Times , Wii now costs 45% less to produce than it did when it launched in November 2006. The context of the article implies that Koya Tabata an analyst at Credit Suisse is referring to Japan, but production costs for Wii in western markets have probably followed a similar decay rate.
The analyst noted the drop in Wii production costs mentioned the drop because he believes that if the PS3 run of hardware success continues, Nintendo has the option of dropping the Wii price while retaining a profit on every Wii it sells in Japan.
A 45% drop in Wii manufacturing cost, using the current Yen-Dollar exchange rate, means that Wii costs no more than $137.50 to make, even though the system sells at $250 (25,000 Yen) in Japan. Nintendo has always sold the Wii at a slight profit, so it is likely the system costs even less than that to make.
WTH? Even with UKs crappy exchange rate they dont have an excuse to raise the retail price to shops if this is true.
I let it slide when they did the alternate costumes DLC with Street Fighter IV since they at least gave us six-console exclusive characters like Cammy, Fei-Long, Sakura, Dan, and Rose, even though the costumes were already on the disc. But the RE5 Multiplayer DLC is rubbing me the wrong way.
First time it was okay since they gave us a lot more than they needed to. But what did they give us in RE5? Digital capsule toys? Unlimited ammo? Mercenaries? These things should already be in there. In SFIV, the six-console characters were something because the arcade version didn't have them. But paying $5 for multiplayer in Mercenaries, an option that's already on the freakin' disc? That's really ridiculous when you think about it! Imagine if Activision did that with Modern Warfare 2 where you'll have to pay $5 to play multiplayer. Instant fail right there!
I don't know, I guess I'm a little irked by this because Capcom is making a habit of this.
I won't be picking up this RE5 DLC that's for sure.

It's funny, I keep goading them and they keep responding with "No comment" or "I can't say anything yet guys". Now I know how it feels to be Matt Assamasina.
From what I've read you dont seem to be over reacting. There are guys on the Ask Capcom boards going crazy about the DLC and how its a rip off.
You can also make the game look better.
