New year, new week. So what's everyone been playing? I just rented Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn so that's what I've been playing.
Oh yeah and "First, bitches!"
Yeah, I've been playing A LOT of Dead Space. Somewhere, right at this moment, there is a Psychologist who's Spider-senses are tingling with me saying that bit above.
I've also been obsessively playing Soldner-X. Which has surprisingly grown on me over the weekend. Once you learn the unique gimmick of the game, namely mastering the Weapon-Chains to Release your Free Extras, the game takes on an Uber-Addictive, Gotta Play it One More Time, Gotta raise my Score on the Leaderboards quality.
Finally, I put Albus' Soul to rest and Kicked the ASSES of the WUSSIEST incarnations of Death and Dracula, yet! Anyone who says that Order of Ecclesia was among the hardest of the CastleVanias REALLY needs to take a trip back in time about 20 years and play a REAL man's-man Dracula-battle!
"My ass is frozen to my throne in fear of the little girl that's about to come and rip me a new vampiric bung-hole! I only hope Death can slow her down a bit!"
Ah Dead Space. Dismembering monsters can be so much fun. I really liked using the sawblade weapon.
Soldner-X looks pretty cool and I really dig the shoot 'em up games so it's probably one I'd like to get.
I so need to pick up Castlevania OoE for my DS.
I've been eyeing Soldner-X lately.
I used to love shooters, and that game looks really sweet. If I didn't have so much to play, I'd grab an invisible DLC copy.
Pokemon Ranger: Shadows of Almia is the other. Decent enough game, but the story is FUCKING STUPID.
Not with the PS3 controller, please no. Okay, Valve really does hate the PS3.
So yeah I JUST finished Act 3 and wow the game has really come together, FAR better then Act 2. I loved the boss battle. It really does show you how destructable environments can be used for gameplay as well as how much farther they can go. The boss battles so far have all been Metal Gear quality. The getaway scenes are entertaining as well but are hampered by analog stick aiming. I kept saying to myself "GOD this would be so much better on my PC!" The ending cutscenes are superb. Really felt like a true climax (and it isn't even the climax yet). Though I was wondering why I could no longer zoom in. Was it because there was a prerenderd clip in there? Either way the game is finally starting to pick up. It definately isn't the flawless masterpiece people make it out to be (hungry PS3 owners?) but it is a very entertaining game.
The PS3 controller just sucks for amming to begin with. My God WHY does it have to take SO LONG to turn 180 degrees!? Anybody and I really do mean ANYBODY who claims that dual analog is on par with Keyboard and Mouse or the Wii Remote in terms of aiming has got to be kidding themselves. Completely inaccurate, horrible response time, and snail pace slow.
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
I've been playing The Orange Box this weekend. Awesome game.
A dual analogue controller may not be as good as a Mouse/keyboard combo, but I vastly prefer using it.
You're going to love Act 4.
Though you are right about MGS4 not being the flawless masterpiece. There's some shit towards the end of the game that supports this theory, but I won't say anything. You'll know what I mean soon enough.
Well now I'm a bit into Act 4 just starting the next secret enemy unit boss battle.
I totally had a nerdgasm when experiencing Snake's dream-sequence . But yeah is it just me or does the game take a hit in graphics in this area? I mean I noticed that some of the textures (mainly metal) aren't that detailed at all. And again where the fuck are the enemy patrol troops? Did Kojima just flatout forget what made this series so great?
One of the site's forefathers.
Play fighting games!
Dude, just turn up the sensitivity!
But one chance jumping puzzles with a PS3 controller is possibly the stupidest thing I've seen in any game ever.
I finished All-Star mode in Brawl at the Intense difficulty. I only had to use 8 continues (wasted 800 coins). Now I just need to finish 100 men melee with all characters, boss battles and collect all the stickers and trophies.
Also played World of Goo, I am not at the information highway level. The game keeps changing up, always some new Goo balls to change the gameplay. Awesome game indeed!
Act 4 is the weakest in that regard - those mini robots that you keep seeing? THOSE BASTARDS ARE EVERYWHERE. And they KEEP ON SPAWNING.
I didn't take too much notice of the textures. I was too busy nerdgasming and looking over an area that I've come to know and love.
Iga:
Have you finished Zack and Wiki?
Of course I have. I am not a wuss like Archie. I finish my games, even broken ones like Metroid. Not sure if I will go back to 100% it.
Isn't that a 40hr game? That's one hell of a rental.
Yeah, I played a bit. I need to finish off this boss in the revolving room, any tips? I dont die I just run out of ammo and he doesn't seem to drop enough.
I played World of Goo and Animal Crossing over the weekend. I have a new female character set up so I can play dress up in womanly hats and pink wallpaper.
Yeah same here, give me dual-analog over mouse-keyboard any day of the week.
