Same here. To me, the Conduit has "rental" written all over it.
Reloading adds to the gameplay, you have that pause and you have to balance your ammo in the midst of firefights. It's essential to me, even with infinite ammo I prefer reloading.
You're a freak, GG.
I was raised during a period of time where heroes had unlimited ammo, and could unleash unlimited streams of bullets in every direction. Thousands, nay, millions of white-hot bullets flooding the screen at once; so many, in fact, that the game console simply could not handle it without slowing down. That's the way it was in '80s and early 90's, and that's the way I prefer it.
Can I just say WTH Matt C? He's talked for 6 + months saying that Kid Icarus was in development and that he knows who is doing it (Factor 5). Now he does this shitty article that makes it sound like speculation and nothing but.
Anyhow Killzone 2 preview:
The controls will take some getting used to. An emphasis on realistic recoil means that Killzone 2's weapons can initially feel unwieldy rather than simply weighty, and the slightly slippery aim, which seems too slow in the centre of the screen and too quick at the edges, is going to require acclimatisation for any hardcore COD players. But even though the game allows you generous options for tweaking sensitivities, assigning different button layouts, and effectively recreating any other game's mapping, the more we played, the less we wanted to substitute Guerrilla's control scheme for something more familiar. After an hour or so, Killzone's layout starts to make sense, its weak running and gunning options forcing you to find a space and make use of the iron sights, while the slightly slow turning and lengthy reload animations draw you into a game that plays out at a tenser, more measured pace than COD or Halo.
Throw in a cover system - in single-player only - that doesn't take the player out of the first-person perspective, but instead relies on a surprisingly cinematic lean-and-peak mechanic, and you have a seriously tactical, if traditional shooter starting to find its feet. The overall feeling of what we've played so far is a carefully constructed solidity: Killzone 2's world may not constantly surprise you, but it's remarkably tangible.
Matt C is full seems to be full of crap nowdays. I don't even bother to read IGN's speculation articles, even the ones I posted the links for.
Personally, I'd love to see Kid Icarus make a come back, but I don't want Factor 5 doing it. They are great at making fantastic visuals, but their games suck (IMO) in the gameplay department.
HOLY CRAP! I just recieved all the games I ordered from Amazon last weekend. They weren't scheduled to come until early next week, but they came early. I now have in my hands, The Orange Box, Bioshock, Animal Crossing W/ Wii Speak, RE4 Wii Edition, and Mercury Meltdown Revolution. Merry Christmas to me!
EDIT: I just opend my Animal Crossing w/ Wii Speak box, and it comes with a factory sealed, retail copy of of ACCF; not a cardboard sleeve like Wii Sports did. I'm going to sell that sealed copy, and keep my opened copy for myself. It should fetch a higher price on Ebay since it's never been opened.
Zero Punctuation: Mirror's Edge
While I don't usually take his reviews seriously, Yahtzee is accurate with this one.
just have a quick check there isn't a "not to be sold separately" small print on the box.

It says "NOT FOR RESALE" right above the barcode. Damn, I didn't notice that before. Do you think that'll be a problem selling it on ebay?
I doubt anyone would notice, or in any case care. You could include it in the description if you wanted to be completely covered but it's a really minor thing, it won't be a problem selling it.

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Cool. Thanks for asking that question; I might not have noticed that otherwise. I don't want to accidentally mislead anyone, even if it's only a minor label difference.
Well, it's a good thing I'm too ethical to have tried returning it to Walmart for a refund like I've heard some people do in other forums. That certainly would've been embarrassing.
I met him not too long ago. Nice bloke.
HE'S STILL FUCKING GOING ON ABOUT THAT?
JESUS CHRIST MATT, HOW ABOUT YOU HARP ON A GAME THAT PEOPLE GIVE A SHIT ABOUT AND WANT TO SEE RE-RELEASED.
EITHER SHOW YOUR GODDAMNED PROOF THAT IT EXSISTS OR SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT.
This is exactly why I stopped listening to NVC. That, and I discovered the summaries.
If it's anything like the demo then I don't know what he's talking about. You have to suck not to be able to time a jump right, and the only problem that I experienced (apart from a lack of freedom) is trying to jump onto that bloody pipe. That was just lame. Of course it was only the demo but yeah...
The game is exactly like the demo except that there are times where you have no idea where to go next, and most of those moments are when you are hanging on the side of a buidling/wall or when there's a crap load of people shooting at you. There's a lot of trial and error involved. As far as jumping, that becomes much more difficult later on in the game. I kept dying over and over again because I'd miss a jump by just a few inches. It's not a bad game, but it becomes very repetitive and annoying after a while.
Mirror's Edge is awesome, Yahtzee can suck it.
So MGS4 is coming to the 360, what?! Ok no its not but it could be, a mysterious picture is now on Famitsu.
It's been three days now, and I just can't get into Fable II. I absolutely loved Fable, but Fable II is kinda leaving me cold. I'm just not finding it to be as much fun as the original game. The dog, however, is awesome! I wish Nintendo had a dog in Twilight Princess instead of turning Link to a dog (lame).
I tried out Mercury Meltdown Revolution (Wii), and it is fantastic! I played about two hours tonight, and it is very addictive. It starts out simple, but quickly becomes very challenging and a lot of fun. It requires a very steady hand, though. I have to say, this $10 game is more entertaining than most full priced games on Wii.
The next MGS will be Wii exclusive in 2010. Michael Pachter informed me of it, so it must be true. It's going to be one of the first games released on Nintendo's Wii HD console.
ENOUGH WITH THAT FUCKING RUMOUR.
UNTIL SOMETHING IS CONFIRMED, I WANT ABSOLUTELY NO FUCKING MORE OF THAT STUPID RUMOUR. EITHER IT'S HAPPENING OR IT'S NOT.
...Sorry, but I really, REALLY hate hearing about that rumour.
Where is this 360 bullshit coming from? I don't see it. Hell, I see the i from the Wii logo.
Shouldn't that ring be red? Oh ho ho! The jokes a keep on coming GG fans!
WTF? So first I have Ass Creed, Dead Space and GOW2 on the way. I was going to get Fable 2, Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3, probably 2 out of 3. Then basically after a few reviews and Dvaders complaints, FC2 is out the window. Then I turn my attention to Fallout 3 and its half price on everything but 360. Okay I will still get that... eventually. But then I look forward to the Witcher, oh, autumn 2009. Crap. Then I think, okay, Fable 2, even though I found the first a borefest. Now Raven is shitting on that prospect. And I just watched a bunch of Nintendo Channel Animal Crossing videos and it looks fucking identical to Wild World! I feel like crawling into a hole and playing sweet, sweet Disaster Day of Crisis till the new year.
