Early Max Payne movie reviews not so glowing
"It's so unbelievably dull, I'm struggling to find the energy to even write about it," the reviewer said of the flick's revenge-driven story. "The slow-mo option from the game may be great in that context, but looks fucking retarded in the film."
Why am I not surprised?
Yeah, she could suck the chrome off of a trailer hitch!
People we have some big news
Nintendo Power - Lit preview
-Developer of Contra 4 and Shantae (Way Forward)
-’Built around the concept that light is life and darkness is death.’
-Play as ‘Jake,’ a high school student whose school is overrun by shadowy creatures that are too dark to see, but can be sensed crawling and scratching everywhere!
-Jake and his girlfriend, the only survivors, are in contact only by cell phone.
-Thirty levels and five ‘puzzle oriented’ bosses (all former school staff, now horrible monsters)
-Use control stick for movement
-Carve paths via light sources to escape
-Wii remote is flashlight
-Switch from top down view to 3d behind back perspective.
-Turn on lamps, break windows and more to light the way and survive.
-Use tools such as flares, TV remotes, slingshot, computer monitors and more to escape!
-Way Forward expects to finish by end of year and publish hopefully early next.
Nintendo Power - Cursed Mountain preview
-Use Tibetan Prayer movements to exorcise demons.
-Enter the ‘Bardo’ or Tibetan Spiritual Realm to see otherwise invisible ghosts.
-Combat mechanics are why developer Deep Silver chose Wii.
-Wanted a survival horror that wouldn’t let you clutch the controller close, saying that the open armed movements make you feel ‘very vulnerable,’ which adds to the experience.
-The mountain itself offers exciting challenges, including a balance act that requires you to tilt the remote for balance as you cross a narrow passage.
Good news with "Lit". I found Contra 4 very enjoyable.

Lol, Leo will "love" this.
French magazine CanardPC feature a five pages article on Fallout 3. What should have been a review is actually a preview (the real review will come once Fallout 3 is released in Europe) because, it seems, Omar Boulon has had quite a hard time playing the game in proper conditions. Here are some excerpts:
This article is not a test. Just an "introduction for things to come". Why? Because the conditions under which I had to play this "RPG" were not acceptable: sixteen hours in a row in a luxurious hotel on an almost finished build, Bethesda asking to see my screenshots in order to "approve" them...These factors, going from obnoxious to truly scandalous would have made my review biased or even dishonest. Well, I mean a little more dishonest than what I usually do. But have no fear, even though I was deprived of my screenshots, I'm not deprived from my opinion.
Well, well, well a French videogame journalist sticking to his principles. More people should do this! And a big fuck you to Bethesda!
"The second element that makes me think that Fallout 3 is condemned to mediocrity, as a Fallout episode but also as an RPG, is the total lack of coherence between all the elements of gameplay. Just an example. Pretty soon, you'll discover that the game has more to do with a doll's house than with roleplaying: you spend your time picking up clothes or armor parts that, *magic trick*, influence your skills. Pick up a surgeon overall, gain five Medicine points. Wear a camping suit, your agility is increased. All of a sudden, the building of a "role" - a specialized but unique and believable character, exactly what made the core of Black Isle's RPGs - is blown away. You just have to spend your caps on weapons, but even that is not necessary...For the rest, everybody who thinks for at least thirty seconds can make a multivalent character. One just needs the appropriate clothes, drugs to suddenly turn into a pyrotechnician, scientist, or burglar."
First Bethesda fucks up roleplaying by turning a game in the genre to an open-ended sandbox hack-n-slash game now they turn a different series into virtual Barbie with stats. Normally I'd complain more but I'm just relieved that some developers get it right *Goes back to playing "The Witcher"*.

Speaking of not being surprised, why am I not surprised that a negative preview of Fallout 3 was posted on No Mutants!?
I'm supposed to take that dribble about Fallout 3 from some niche site seriously, when its obviously written by some nerd who's mad that Bethesda is making it?
I'm all set. Game looks and sounds badass if you ask me, and every other normal person seems to have loved it so far. I've yet to be anything but impressed with Bethesda's work. I didn't agree with all the choices in Oblivion, but there were plenty I did agree with.
Agreed. Seriously who is this guy and why should I care? Scour the internet enough and you'll find some joe blow with a dissenting opinion on anything and everything thinking that he is someone special because he sees what no one else sees. I'll wait until the majority of mainstream reviews come in as well as I get some game time of my own. So far though I'm still quite impressed with what I've seen on the game.
Nintendo Power Info
How do these guys get the latest Nintendo Power info so freaking early? I won't be getting the latest mag for at least two more weeks!
Toshinden Set for Wii
I posted this link up top to go with the Famitsu scan posted earlier by someone else. According to IGN, Toshinden Wii will NOT be a sequel to the PS1 games. ". . . Famitsu clarifies that the new title is a completely original game, with an original world setting and original characters."
I vaguely remember playing a demo of PS1's Battle Arena Toshinden. I also remember not liking it very much.
EA: 99.8% of gamers don't care about DRM
That's probably true. I certainly don't care about DRM much. As long as Nintendo allows me to transfer all of my WiiWare/VC games to their next console, then I'm fine.
Real Heroes: Firefighter (Wii) Trailer
This trailer is of a "pre-alpha build" of the game, so the graphics are pretty bad, but the concept does look very interesting.
Bozon says Cosmic Crawler blows Endless Ocean away.
Take that GG.
I'm surprised that they are calling "The Calling" a rumor being that gameplay footage is shown. But yeah it looks pretty cool and is literally scarying me from vids.

You guys are completely missing the point. Check this out:
Why? Because the conditions under which I had to play this "RPG" were not acceptable: sixteen hours in a row in a luxurious hotel on an almost finished build, Bethesda asking to see my screenshots in order to "approve" them...
This is unacceptable, and Archie waiting for mainstream reviewers, well how do you know they are trustworthy? No one should review a game after playing it in a hotel for a day.
Edit: it from French magazine CanardPC. So it is a "mainstream" opinion!
Tenchu IV always looked linear to me, but I hear that the old games weren't. From the Walkthrough video I posted last week you can see that there are at least a couple of different ways to beat the levels i.e paths through each level. To me it really does like like a Ninja Splinter Cell.
Not only is Steel hating on Sonic, he was hating on Thundercats in my blog. He is a turd!
So MM9 must be like Ghouls and Ghosts in that once you get the patterns down, it's okay?
Lit sounds like the premise from an 80s cartoon
Cursed Mountain... so bad it's good? Hold on, one second and let me just repeat some of that info:
USE TIBETAN PRAYER MOVEMENTS TO EXORCISE DEMONS WTF?
These hotel reviews are starting to annoy me. From what I've heard most of the big games are good enough not to even need this crap PR stunt anyway, so it's pissing me off that they are even doing it.
He and Cassa are joking because it looks pretty turd like. Cosmic Walker... ROFFLES.
Vaders favourite game, the LBP killar!
I just saw the Wii Music demo. Reminds me of the Mario Pant music thingy. It looks like it could be fun.
Shame about the limited track selection. I was hoping that I could use my own tunes off SD card.
I was actually suprised at how much the music changes depending on your movement and timing.
Yes, and Matt actually made the Zelda theme sound bad. So it does require skill!
DC is looking great.
So, Defenders of the earth last night. Wow.
So they are teleported around the planet Mongor by Prince Krotan - Ming the Merciless' evil son.
So Mandrake and co are stuck in a blizzard. Mandrake is this magician that wears a top hat and tuxedo at all times. So he cracks out this awesome line as the blizzard blows around them:
"I knew I should have worn my winter tux."
Then Jeduh - The Phantom's daughter yells out: "Watch out! The Snow beasts are coming!"
And these yeti like things appear and start attacking them. Then Mandrake mind melds with Jeduh and they create the illusion of an uber Snowbeast. "We are your friends."
Then later in the episode they use the Snowbeasts to attack Ming's Ice robots. Then they get trapped in a maze with... get this... Robo-dogs. Imagine the dogs from RE only indescructable Robo-dogs?
Then Krotan has this missile headed to earth to destroy the planet only Flash and his son are on board. If the Defenders reach the end of the maze they can hit a button to destroy the missle and save the earth but kill Flash and Rick.
So they reach the end of the maze and Krotan laughs to himself "The missile should be at earth by now" and he flicks on the monitor, the missile is headed right for his face and Flash comes on audio "Wrong again Krotan!" So then Krotan says "No, you wouldn't Flash." and Flash says "If it means taking you out, I would do it. The target isn't earth, the target is Krotan" so then Krotan begs for his life and Flash makes him release the other defenders. Then instead of deactivating the missile, Flash and Rick parachute out of the ship and let the missle blow Krotan's base to smithereens.
TOTALLY AWESOME. And it's part 4 of 5 episodes in this Son of Ming story arc. The previous episode had them stopping Krotan from marrying Jeduh on Mongor.
