I turned on my WiiU for the first time in months yesterday, hoping to play some Fast Racing NEO. So I deleted my downloaded copy and popped in the disc. The physical version doesnt' recognnize my digital save.
I tried a couple of things and by then the missus got home and commandeered the telly to watch Netflix. On my WiiU...
So I didn't get to play anything. But I did see Bugs playing The Swindle. I'd love to hear some impressions from you Bugs. I bought the game on launch myself and played 3 heists but then lost interest. I just can't seem to get excited for games that use procedurally generated levels.
It's a love/hate thing. I have been trying to stop playing it all week. The game is buggy as hell, no pun intented. There also isn't much variation between the levels of different areas. But there is something very compulsive about it. I just keep wanting to get one more heist in. It's also the first "for keeps" game I'm playing because I hate losing progress and starting from scratch yet somehow this time around I find that it spurs me on instead of putting me off. I will write a proper write-up once I finish it. Though I think I will want to probably start again.

Because of the 100 day thing? Yeah, not sure where I stand on that. It's a neat concept, but 100 heists seems a bit too long as to allow for multiple playthroughs.
This is great. I just stumbled on the Windows 10 event, which is going live right now. They had this blonde woman in a tight T-shirt with some gamer-print of a skull and a cog on it talk about all the new features coming to Xbox. Now they've got some other woman, wearing a black sweater, black rimmed glasses and a scarf, talking about the Creator update to Windows 10. MS sure knows their stereotypes. Although if they did they'd have some greasy nerd talk about the Xbox bit... They're not only stereotyping, they're also discriminating on the basis of gender!
I was watching the IGN Switch reactions video and what I noticed was that all of the women were photogenic and when it came to men it didn't matter how ugly/hairy or fat you were.
Whomever is hiring there at IGN only seems to hire females if they look good. Clear sexism at work.
The latest one, Color Splash blurs the lines a bit, its fun regardless. The N64 and Gamecube ones are regarded as the best. If you have a good sense of humor you're bound to like them.
They were showing it to indies in March according to Image and Form, so one would expect that big publishers knew about it before that.
Aren't these just indie games?
Why wont you play Splatoon, you already own it right? Even if you don't want in on the multiplayer there's still a good single player platformer there.
Well I'd certainly buy both those games again for the Switch.
Wow. Seriously? So we'll get no more info on the Switch until January 12th? Pretty lame Nintendo.
I don't know how life will go on.
Well, there's always cryo-sleep.
On a more serious note: I don't get why they're so secretive about it still. It's like they don't want to release the thing, but relectanty recognize that at some point they will have to. Not showing off all the features till January will just lead to more rumour mongering and inflated, unrealistic, expectations.
The Surface Dial:
It's a tool that you place on a touchscreen and it becomes a context sensitive dial with haptic feedback. Honestly, I think this is one of the coolest PC peripherals to be designed since the wireless mouse. The Magic Mouse was cool, but didn't really change how we intteracted with PC's. Somethingn like this could really prove disruptive. Ms is really on a roll with their Surface brand.
Anyone know about travelling from airports to hotels in New York and San Francisco?
The cab fare seems expennsive, especially given the exchange rate now for the UK pound. Is there a train or subway service from JFK to Chelsea, Manhatten?
How much is it? What's it called etc.
I hear there is some train in San Fran that goes from the airport into the centre of the city?
Not sure about San Francisco as I went there by car, but you can definitely get from JFK to anywhere in NYC on the subway once you use the shuttle train to get to the subway terminal. You may need to connect more than one line but it shouldn't be a problem if you are familiar with the London Underground.

And Bugs is pretty right on about New York. Subways will more less take care of you.
