I feel sad for deleting all the MAME stuff I had 10 years ago.
I thought these old games would all be re-released in digital form but no. All those Capcom brawlers too.
You know what's funny is when I posted that the first thing that crossed my mind was how fast Gamespot would suspend me for that pic.

So does anyone have any recommendations for iPad games? I'm wondering more on the classic games like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc. and how well they have been ported over and can be played on the iPad. I'm looking for games with substance that play well. Most likely RPG's and perhaps RTS game will fit that criteria the most.
That moderation message is weird. Swearing + non-sequitur snark. Eww.
I wish someone could tell me how the KOTOR games play on a tablet.
As far as the classics goes Chrono Trigger wasn't a great port. The Final Fantasy games are ok, but the art style they used in kind ugly. The DQ games are fine and pretty decent. Except for DQ8. That sucks complete ass. And TWEWY Solo Remix was excellent.
Hmmm. I might look into those myself as well as the Baldur's Gate games.
Dragon Quest 5 just came out in February for $17 and has a 90 with 9.2 user scores on Metacritic. I never played that one. I already have DQ6 on the DS. DQ 1, 2, and 3 are selling for about $3.50 to $5 so I'll probably get those even just for a bit of nostalgia. I heard good things before about TWEWY but I can't seem to find it. Shame about DQ8, that game was awesome. I really don't know why it isn't on PSN already.
Oh DQ5 is out? Oooooh, I may have to pick that up. If you haven't played DQ5 get it. It's an excellent game. It has one of the very best stories of the entire 16-bit era. Can't recommend it enough.
DQ8 is just unfortunate on mobile. Everything is a downgrade from the PS2 version, but for the most part it's nothing you couldn't put up with, until you get to the controls. They're terrible. It's just too hard to control the camera and walk where you want to go, and while you can probably ignore it in small doses, the game is just too long and after a few hours it'll make you want to break the game.
As far as TWEWY, I had heard that S-E didn't or couldn't patch it to work with either the latest updates of Apple devices or the last versions of them, and they were taking down the game because of it. Something like that. I guess that was true. Too bad, it's an amazing game.
Jesus man.... they do not fuck around with the boss battles in Tropical Freeze do they? The second boss is already making me want to scream. Did they find these monsters from Dark Souls?
Which one is that?
The Owl. The damned fight just doesn't end. He's only the 2nd boss!!! I'm supposed to be able to bop him 6 times and then move on.
I went on a bit of a Dragon Quest bender. Got 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.
I liked that the bosses in TP provided a challenge. I found them to be well designed and fun.
They're definitely good fights. Much tougher than I expected though, but after about a dozen battles I did manage to get through it.
Just got done replaying Code Veronica.
This is easily one of the longer and tougher games in the series as far as puzzles go. Took me 12 hours to replay it.
Back in the day, I used to feel this game was GOOD ENOUGH & didn't need to be remade. Well, I don't feel that way anymore. The engine has gotten to the point where its pretty dated now and doesn't hold up well at all next to REmake. The HD version is half assed too, which doesn't help. There's nothing HD about it....its just in widescreen. The graphics are actually a little worse I think, because its overly dark to the point I had to crank the brightness on my TV to see some areas.
As for other things, this is still one of the best games and arguably most underappreciated of the series. This WAS the real RE3. The environments and puzzles and the way it all blends together is maybe the best of the old games. And it would look awesome remade. The voice acting though, is just horrible. Maybe the worst in the series. The cheesy love sequences between Claire and Steve...not to mention how annoying Steve is anyways....my word. And also some of the confrontations you have with Wesker and Alexia and Alfred are cringe worthy. This would need to be COMPLETELY redone.
The enemies are pretty great in this one....good placement of them throughout. The fucking Bandersnatch...why was this guy never used again? Fuckin' awesome. I could do without the poison moths in that fucking hallway that get you EVERY time though. All in all, this was an amazing release.
BTW...the guys who directed Nemesis and Code Veronica, whatever happened to these guys?
I don't remember either of their names, but they're not names you hear about when people talk about Capcom guys. The dude who directed Code Veronica should be in charge of the fucking franchise. Unless he's one of many guys who left for Platinum?
What have fellas been playing? I'm finishing up this:
