Stinky 3DS Smash... *grumble!*
Is anyone else playing at least? Impressions?
Thank you. So. Very. Bored.
Yeah, my impressions are practically the same. There's so much extra content which is great. I played a few mp matches and they were fun but slightly laggy. I think that's to be expected though. It's Smash through and through.
Edit: damn autocorrect changing "laggy" to "leggy".
Smash sounds great but I'm certainly not surprised at all. I'll pick up a copy sometime next week.
Sunset Overdrive free for one day? Hell yeah! I guess I know what I'll be playing this Saturday.
Smash?
It's lucky LBP3 came out this year or Smash would have been the biggest "meh".
That's next Saturday.
LOL
GTAV still can't hit a consistent 30fps?
It bet it will on PC.
2014 definitely seems to be the year of the Great Games With a Ridiculous Amount of Glitches winner.
Is this developers getting lazy, stretched too thin across titles, not given enough time, or a result of them not being able to understand new hardware as fast as they should? Or a bit of all four?
Seems to be transferring code from a different machine to a new one, Sleeping Dogs port was ass. It also happened a lot with some Wii U ports too, a drop to 22 or 24 fps in some places and most gamers were quick to jump on how weak it was because of a few dodgy ports. PS3 and 360 are quite quirky archaic architectures to port from.
Wasn't there a big article at E3 complaining that Ps3 and 360 were being pushed aside in favor of new systems, and that there were too many games that were new gen only at the show?
So its either/or....and folks will complain either way. Make up your minds.
Reading recent Digital Foundry articles, there seems to be a trend emerging where X1 games actually have a better frame rate than PS4 versions of the same game. It seems that X1, now that Kinect is gone, the CPU is slightly better than the PS4 and is giving it an advantage. Meanwhile the memory and GPU of PS4 gives it a resolution/picture quality advantage but actually running at a slightly worse frame rate. Interesting.
I don't remember an article about past gen being pushed aside but there was so much stuff at E3 it would be difficult to remember. I do remember that this gen has sold much faster than anticipated so PS3/360 versions are being canned faster now I think. Guillemot said something like that.
I think it's a double edged sword all these cross gen games. For those of you who have new systems, it doesn't matter to you, you buy the better version of the game on your new system and to you it's fine. You have new games to play on your new system and it doesn't matter if it's on old gen or not. For procrastinating sourpusses like me, yet to buy into the new generation (Wii U doesn't count of course) it gives me the nagging feeling that the new gen isn't quite worth it yet as I can play the majority of the games on a system I already own. Of course it doesn't help watching comparison videos where the only difference seems be a few effects and resolution boost which I don't really care that much about. Fundamentally they're the same games, visual bells and whistles aside.
Personally speaking the only games I would get right now if I had a PS4 would be last gen games like The Last of Us and GTA V. Maybe FC4, but I didn't get FC3 so who knows. I want to play the Uncharted trilogy on PS4. A lot of other multiplat releases are white noise to me, they're there, but I don't really care if I play them or not, or care when I play them, now or a few years away.
Anyone check this out yet?
