If virtual reality is going to be anything more than the 3D revolution #29045 it won't matter who the fuck owns Oculus Rift, because in a few years there'll be market diversity. If it's 3D revolution #23521, then who the fuck cares if Facebook owns it?

I think VR meeds to be cheap, that's the main hurdle. £100 or bust. With new tech there's always this adoption problem relating to content provision, like 3Dtvs and additional motion controllers. Even motionplus which is as cheap as an add on gets, still had relatively little take up compared to the userbase. How they're going to convince anyone but the richest of tech nerds to pick up these hmds, I have no idea. Porn?

I dont understand how anyone could think it will just be like 3D. This will change the world, its the next big tech for our entire species. It is the next internet. It wont be a giant helmet in the future but it will become something everyone has and does.

Ugh, don't get me started on that.  So thanks to Facebook and the AppStore, I hardly get to talk to the missus anymore.  Add in VR and I'll have to hit her everytime I want to tell her anything...

VR won't become big because it's inherently an asocial experience.  It's only good for viewing stuff.  I don't believe Facebook when they say it's the next step for social media, unless social media all evolve into an MMO.

AR will change our world like the internet did, but AR and VR are two completely different things.

I don't understand how anyone could believe that. Either way, though, being sceptical about new technology is common sense; especially one oft touted as the next big thing. That fails every time; and every time beforehand the supporters of the new technology say this time it will be different.

Well then what do you think communication will look like in 30 years? You think we will be typing to each other like this? You don't think we will be able to virtually recreate any location we want?

the question is what is the alternative? We aren't going to physically teleport. We aren't actually going to have holograms. This is what we will create, virtual versions of what we wish we could make.

I don't know what the future will be like, just like everyone else. That's the reality of the situation; everything else is fantasy.

Played Diablo 3: RoS last night some more. I had to tone it down a notch in difficulty from Torment I to Master, since somewhere between last night and tonight my sizeable ballsack shriveled up and somehow my attacks started lacking punch, and the elites were getting harder by the minute. At any rate I got a sweet 2H leg sword that finally drove my DPS to over 100K (measly), and with a toughness sitting comfortably at over 2M (less measly, but not much). I am confident by the time I reach Lv 70 I'll have things more in control.

Wow MGS GZ will make a ton of money. Over 200k in Japan alone in a week. I am sure it will be over a million seller in the US. This will fund MGSV.

Nobody cares about patents if something becomes genuinely massive, do they? In fact, it's kinda hard for something (a concept; not just a product) to become ubiquitous for any sustained period of time if supplied by the one company, if only because other companies want a piece of pie enough that they'll R&D a way around the patent, or just plagiarise it. Monopolies are more sustainable; and I suppose Facebook is kinda a monopoly? But how long do internet monopolies last?

Going to go with Supreme and say AG makes more sense, and it has less hurdles to overcome than VR. But I don't know, naturally. I'm not really Pachter. Nyaa
