Game Scoop! Presents The BIG RPG Preview
Did you know there are 30 RPG's scheduled for 2014? Actually an IGN video worth watching!?ign.com editorial impressions media phantom_leo
For anyone who cares to know: Bravely Default is gorgeous, addicting and an utterly enthralling throwback to classic Final Fantasy games. I cannot recommend it enough. Wow!
The ironic thing is: I am saying this JUST from playing the demo! I DID buy the full game today, but haven't started it yet because I want to complete the demo quests to get the various bonuses for the full game!
On a side note: The GameStop I have been pre-ordering in lately actually gutted my copy and put it up on the wall. I was so. very. pissed. I nearly cancelled all my other pre-orders on the spot. That's nearly one thousand bucks they lost over an AMATEUR fuck-up! The only reason I DID NOT cancel everything was the nuisance it would have been to go somewhere else local and re-pre-order everything. Douche manager gave me 10% off the game. That pretty much made me MORE angry. I wanted to say to him: "Really?! I no longer have confidence your store is going to hold the things I pay for WELL in advance and the answer for your fuck-up is to give me FOUR bucks. THAT'S supposed to placate me?!" Idiot kid at the register had the nerve to still ask me to fill out a survey. Which I did. They got ZEROES in every category. The manager then said to me: "Don't worry. I'll make sure your copy of Final Fantasy isn't opened." THAT'S REASSURING, SHIT-HEAD!
I resent gutted games being sold as new. GAME do that all the time. Let alone a game you pre-ordered. That would be twenty times worse. I think you should have made a bigger fuss of it.
And here I am playing FFXIII-2 and wondering when I can play a game with the magic of FF games of old.
I like the newer FF games but yeah, they definitely lost the magic they used to have. Much like Resident Evil and so many other Japanese games, they just need to go back to what made it awesome in the 1st place. There's a reason the games are praised and loved, and a reason the fans keep coming back for more. Why change it to try and fit in with some new age bullshit when that's NOT what the fans want and likely not what the developers want either?
BTW I just started Super Mario 3D World tonight....I don't know if I can ever play the NSMB series now because this game seems like it blows them away in every way. Its like a mix of the old Mario formula that the NSMB series copies, but with the added awesomeness of the more modern 3D Mario games. Pretty killer so far. Playing it with a Pro Pad too.
And here I am playing FFXIII-2 and wondering when I can play a game with the magic of FF games of old.
And I just wish I cold bring myself to finish FFXIII-1, magic or not. I never finish RPGs; FFXIII-2 was a birthday gift and is sitting sealed on my shelf. I'd rather have the FFX collection than FFXIII-3 for my birthday this year. Or maybe a 3DS, given what I'm hearing about Bravely Default.
That sucks, Leo. I've walked out empty handed plenty of times because I'd go in to purchase something new and the employees would grab a gutted copy off the shelf.
About 65% through TLOU. The second third was better than the first but it's still nowhere near GOTY material. I understand the story will get emotional and all the rest of that and characters you care for will die etc (probably including Joel) but that doesn't make up for the gameplay. It's just uncharted with a bit of resident evil thrown in for good measure.
I felt the same way about the gameplay myself, yet it was STILL my GOTY. It's NOT the gameplay! I actually laughed at how simple it was and put it in my GOTY topic: Go to a new area, Kill the noisy, fast guys, kill the clickers and move on to the "puzzles" which consist of (1)Find a ladder --or-- (2)Find the conveniently placed wooden pallet to float Ellie on. The last hour or two MAY make you do a 180 on it. THAT'S when it happens!

You forgot (3) Find the wheelie bin to move to the inaccessible exit.
I have to say, though, your description doesn't really sound that much like Uncharted. And I don't think it was. But maybe it would feel like Uncharted if you played it as a straight third person shooter?
You're right! ...and THAT was one of the most MEMORABLE moments in the game! Those things are sooo much fun to roll around! I LOVE the way the wheels are on ball bearings and how they'll turn in any direction! THAT'S what makes it GOTY! 10/10! I hope you haven't spoiled it for Bugsie now though!

Dang it man!! You ruined it ... RUINED IT COMPLETELY.
psst ... I secretely love how those things spin on the spot and move in every which direction. I guess wheelie bin physics will end up making this my GOTY as well

It playes just like Uncharted when you fight the hunters/scavengers with the same mix of stealth/shoot and take cover/melee gameplay and sort of like Resident Evil 4 when fighting zombies (except for the faster enemies).
Anyway, I want to play some more. I guess it's not so bad

Works for me! You're really making me want to play it again, Bugsie.
up.Trying some demo wih my son. He still loves the Sonic Lost World demo. He can't get enough. I tried to play The Cave but the demo didn't seem to want to load. I tried to let him play NBA 2k13, but some stupid Gatorade biometric mode screwed it
Getting an old school type JRPG =
Getting a foldout sheet with 6 small panels for instructions for said game =
Too late, already got it.
