Is you saying foolz shouldn't get free consoles?
I hope foolz already has ps4 and the new killzone sent to him. They owe him that

Hey dude, you want me to design you a new crane? Well buy me a huge computer, so I can do my work.
Getting a free console from the company you review games from is weird. My company does not get anything for free. You buy your own computers, your own desks, your own books. Why would reviewers be any different?
Cause they are reviewers and their coverage brings attention to the products. Do movie reviewers pay to see movies, no they get free screenings, same thing. They should not have to pay to review a product.
I'm not playing it though I do own it now. It's for Christmas. You're talking to someone who played 2, skipped the next two games and picked up with 3.
There is no really important coherant story here but if you own 3, or others you haven't played yet, I would get those over with first. 3 has an interesting cliff hanger so I want to see if 4 pays off but I hear 4 is set before 3??
There is nothing wrong with at all as long as the recipient lets it be known to their public, which GB did (as they do whenever they go on sponsored junkets). They, and Eurogamer, are the only outlet I know that does that.
If the reader knows that the author got a free $500 gift from the manufacturer (and this is a case where each individual was given a personal console, not just 2 or 3 review units for the office) then when they read their coverage they can take that into consideration.
On the one hand I think a site whose business is reporting on games should bear responsibility for buying new systems. It depends if MS is buying a couple of X1s for the whole office to use, or whether each member is getting a unit which is a touch shady. When I was up for the job of Playstation Editor at CVG (LOL) it was made clear by the EIC that you had to buy your own unit for home.
I want it, based on what I read of the gameplay.
So you admit that they are not critics, but a marketing tool? Getting paid by the very same thing you review is a huuuge conflict of interest.
I've got it pre-ordered! It's a refined and supposedly incredible follow-up to Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light and I loved that game!
Everything that gets reviewed is given to reviewers. Car magazines dont buy cars to review them. Movies arent paid by the reviewers. Why do you want the game industry to be different?
Where are all those pictures coming from? I thought it was you?
Damn those FF and Mario numbers in Japan. Nasty decline, that is not good.
I don't think car manurfacturers give out cars to magazines?
Nope, they were PS4 and Wii U grabs from GAF. Just to show how it looked because 3 looked so much like ASS. Also to show the 1080p difference on PS4.
Microsoft strikes Xbox One agreements with Japanese developers
If anyone missed it, it seems X1 will have a bunch of full games from Japanese devs in 2014 or at least revealed next year. They seem to do this every generation and it never seems to work in the homeland.
That is also true, but games cost considerably less and seeing the uproar on review events it seems better to just send the sites a copy of the game. Sounds like people dont want games reviewed, they get sent on a trip to review the game "Ohhhh teh bias!!!" They get sent games to review "oh the bias!!!"
They should not have to pay for the game, period.
Of course I say this after getting a free copy of AC4 cause GS has a bunch of them lying around.
I think you need to look at it with respect to the userbase. Wii had many times more the instal base that the U has. Numbers need to be looked at in that perspective

GG, car magazines do get given the cars to review, they just don't get to keep them. Like Nintendo games.
Of all the things people could complain about when it comes to game reviews, being supplied media seems like the tritest thing possible. In fact, the concept of bias is absurd: unbiased reviews are the most boring, useless pieces of shit you can find to read anywhere. They're also, coincidentally, the reviews that are closest conceptually to marketing.
I got to try the Xbox One, I will break it down into categories.
Controller - Feels great to hold, better than the 360. D-pad seems nice. Triggers are so good, I love how they are part of the curve of the controller and the rumble, ohh so nice. I still do not like the super plastic R1 L1 buttons. Sticks are great. Nice controller, I still rather use a Dual Shock though.
Menu - It is mostly the same as the current 360 menu but better organized. Kinect voice commands work well enough but I find it creepy to talk to machines. The hand gestures take too long to get working, controllers are much easier. Snap is a great feature, basically anything can be snapped for easy switching between apps. It has all the features the PS4 has, well no streaming right now but its capturing videos all the time too. The way their videos are organized is way better than on PS4. UI goes to the Xbox One.
Dead Rising - This is the only game I got to try and it ran beautifully. The patch must have fixed all framerate issues cause never once did the game slow down (they should probably rereview this game). Graphics aren't amazing but it is impressive how many enemies they have on screen and how good the models look. Its silly fun, seems like more of the same.
Install - The reason DR was the only game I played as cause KI had some update, so it started to install... and install 25% (for some reason the install jumped to 25% then stopped) 27%... 20 minutes later 39%. Seriously WTF. At the rate it was going it would take 2 hours to finish installing, I dont understand. This alone makes the PS4 a better overall system, I dont care how many nice features the One has, if installs take forever it is a huge problem. So now when you buy a new game you will need to sit around for an hour.
I don;t think anyone has a problem with free games. But free consoles is crossing the line. Even congress has limits on the value of personal gifts you can receive from those you are conducting business with. A $500+ gift is a bit too generous.
