GAF are really loving LEGO City, say it's not just another lego game. Hugely entertaining.
So Infamous is going to be a PS4 launch game? Wow. So we may get Infamous, Killzone, AC4, Watch Dogs, and maybe that racer as launch games amoung others. That is pretty badass.
Banjo Kazooie is pretty awesome. Started playing it again after leaving it for other games last year.
Having played all three of this years big hack and slash action games I will rank them in categories.
Combat System:
I found DmC fighting system to be a great simplification yet keeping the depth of DMCs combat. The game is a blast to play with loads of room to reach expert play. MGR I found to fall into a repetitive trap on expert play where you just parry all the time or use revengance meter. GoW well that is a step back for the series.
Level Design:
As always the GoW games have much more than just action. Ascension is no different with its incredible locations and great mix of platforming with loads of great puzzles thrown in. DmCs new platforming mechanics were pretty nice and the level design has its high moments, better than any other DMC game. MGR is very basic, the most straight forward action game of the bunch.
Boss Battles:
Hand it to Platinum to make some fantastic bosses. Each make great use of the games combat system and all in different ways. Ascension has what maybe the boss battle of the year but the rest of them were simply ok, not as good as GoW3s bunch. DmCs bosses are an embarrassment to action games, except for the last one.
Story:
Haha who cares. Ok fine
Amazingly DmC has a compelling story that sets up the relationship between Dante and Virgil for games to come. This is easily the most relatable Dante there is. MGR is insane but fun insane. I cant even tell you what happened in GoW, Kratos forgot something and he must kill to remember, whatever.
Content/Replayability:
This one is really close between DmC and MGR but I give the edge to DmC simply cause it is almost twice as long as MGR and it has more difficulty modes. Plus now you have bloody palace update which is a blast. MGR has a bunch of difficulty modes as well and all the VR missions, though I find the VR missions to be more diversions than something like bloody palace that tests your skills. GoW once you beat it there is little to do, it has multiplayer though but who cares.
Overall Game:
DmC remains the best action game I played this year. MGR has its moments but ultimately feels a bit too simplistic when compared to DmC. Ascension is the worst GoW console game.
I laughed real hard with your one line sum-up of the God of War Ascension storyline. Because it's probably very very accurate

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
They lost me at the MMO. The rest sounded really good. If it gets made, I hope it's as creepy as the original.
They lost me at Ecco the Dolphin. None of the games in that series were any good. Bleh. And I so wanted the Dreamcast version to be good too.
So, Gamestop called and informed me that my Bioshock Infinite pre-order will be available for pickup at midnight tonight. Gee, thanks. I only have to be at work by 6:00 tomorrow morning.
Why the fuck does this dumbass industry release big games on Tuesdays? Most people can't even play them until the following weekend anyway. Just release them on Fridays! At least Nintendo releases theirs on Sundays; it's still stupid, but a huge improvement over Tuesdays.
Friday would be great. Don't defend Nintendo though, Sunday is the worst day ever, here you get it on the last day of your weekend, screw you Nintendo.
Sundays are not that bad. At least I could get a game early Sunday morning, and play all day and well into the evening. Tuesdays, yeah, not so much.
Friday would be a much more desirable day. Got back into Gears again. Man, there's some good stuff here. The scenarios are better than Gears 3 at times. Crazy Bezerkers fight, check. Normady type run up a hill, check. Fight in a dust filled area with barely no visibility, check! Even in hardcore, the regular game can be a breeze. But what if you choose to play the declassified missions along the way? Well, I've died, a lot! The declassified missions are awesome.
Now, back to Weegie!
Screw Ecco the Dolphin. Where's my Endless Ocean kickstarter?!
I just killed that big dude on the ship using just my bow and climbing axe in TR. It takes something like three or four shots at close range with the shotgun to stun him, but one shot in the face with the compound bow, and he's crying like a little bably, lol.
Oh man, now I remember why I hung up playing Monster Hunter Tri when it was on the Wii. This game is harder than hell. Just spent an hour in a battle, only to have the time expire right before the monster died.
I tried the Monster Hunter demo on 3DS last night. It looks cool, but the controls were annoying as all hell.
It's 9pm already? Damn, I don't think I'll be able to finish my second playthrough of TR before Bioshock tomorrow.
I know it was very popular on the PSP (in Japan), but I can't imagine playing that game on a handheld.
