I am about to take a tour of a ton of live stage demos throughout E3. Hopefully I see some good things, i will have a report later.
But before I do that I want to comment on this 1up RE6 article GG posted, HOLY SHIT.
"it also brings along many of the series' worst elements. From the sloppy aiming to the constant interruptive action icons as Chris vaults over rooftop obstacles, Resident Evil 6 comes off like a creation developed in an alternate reality where the past five or six of game design never happened"
Sloppy aiming? What?? Huh? on what planet does RE4 and RE5 have sloppy aiming, its some of the best most precise aiming of all TPSs. QTE actions are necessary, do you really need a button dedicated to jumping, no, when you walk up to something you can interact with a prompt comes up, no different than RE4.
"That hands-off restriction made itself painfully evident throughout Leon's scenario. Players venture into a huge banquet hall which can only be navigated by walking down the row between tables that isn't obstructed by chairs. You know, simple wooden chairs, the kind you can scoot under the table. Inexplicably, rugged special agent Leon Kennedy and his Secret Service companion see these simple household objects as impassable obstacles and can't walk down any row where the chairs have been pulled slightly away from the tables. Yes, it's a trivial, minor detail, but that's precisely the problem: In any contemporary game, chairs would be interactive objects with simple physics that would let Leon push them aside. But no: Resident Evil 6 treats chairs as fixed scenery elements."
What? What games allow you to tuck chairs under tables, what the hell is he talking about? Is he talking about a game where everything is under the havok engine so you trample over objects unrealistically and can get stuck, that kind of interation. Its an action game, all of them are like this.
Even worse is when Leon finds himself prevented from passing down a hallway because a 2x4 wooden beam is has fallen diagonally across the corridor. A few minutes later, he meets a spindly, nervous civilian... who promptly shoves the 2x4 aside all alone. These contrived limitations make RE6 feel painfully dated, and they absolutely emasculate the protagonists.
Oh good god. The games need to push you along and tell a story they cant have you doing everything you want to do. Who cares.
Are any of you like this? Do you get strangely bothered by unimportant totally irrelevant to the game aspects? I dont get it.
I was just curious. Can I do one handed carthwheels? I shrugged my shoulders and said: "There is only one way to find out."
I tried a few times, and I guess I cannot. Was fun though.
I agree that they overdue the QTE shit....this is something that I've never really liked in most games. My least favorite aspects of RE4. Nothing worse than hitting a cutscene and thinking you can relax and watch it for a minute....raising a beverage up to your lips only to see a goddamn button suddenly flash up on the screen making you spill your beverage in a failed attempt to quickly regain control and you die a horrible death.
Controls wise, obviously the guy just doesn't like RE controls. They're not sloppy at all if you play them on a PC mouse, Wiimote or PS Move.
Hopefully the parental controls of the system allow for unfiltered messaging. I'm a big boy!
This guy's damn good with the WIimote!
The optimist proclaims we live in the best of all possible worlds
while the pessimist fears this is true.

I hope that most shooters keep the Wiimote+nunchuck option.
Wow there isnt much at E3. Normal on the 2nd or 3rd day there is a surprise game everyone is buzzing about, none of that here. Well I saw some videos here are some stuff you should check out.
Dust for XBLA looks incredible. My downloadable game of the show. It is a 2D metroid like world but with crazy action, think dishwasher but so much more beautiful, imagine if Muramasa had good combat, this is what it would be like.
They have Deadlight which is a 2D classic Prince of Persia like platformer but with zombies, neat and interesting but seemed kind of boring to me.
The Unfinished Swan is a PSN game where you throw black paint balls against an all white background to reveal your environment. It will be a 2 hour artsy game so its crappy like Journey.
Dishonered, fuck awesome gameplay. Its like Bioshock but with really cool powers like turning into a fish, possessing people, stopping time and way more. It has melee FP combat, nice looking world. Great stuff.
X-Com, OMG I need this now. The battles are so cinematic but still have the same gameplay, perfect update.
DmC I saw a boss battle. It was a bit too pattern based for me but it looked so stunning. This game wont be so bad I think.
Darksiders 2, a lot like the original... not a bad thing.
Skyrim Dawnguard has you play as a vampire lord, that looks so much fun.
So yeah mostly nothing to amazing, a lot of the same games over again. Watch Dogs steals the show easily.
Ooooh I forgot about this game. Looks good, like a mixture of Thief & Giest:
Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD uses PS Move? Cool!
I wsasn't expecting much from anyone other than Nintendo, what with this being kind of the swansong year of this long generation. There's still a very nice amount of high quality games coming out over the next year for the end of an era. And Nintendo, as badly as they bombed the show, looks like they still have a quality launch lineup for Wii U. So in hindsight, its not all that bad.
Next year's E3 has no reason to not be the best ever though....3 new consoles + next-gen PC tech.
That Chris gameplay, sigh. Just to much chaos and it does not seem controlled at all. Way too many enemies with guns everywhere and you dont seem to need cover so chris is a bullet sponge. I did not see enemies react to gunfire like they did in RE4/5, they seem more bullet spongy as well. This section went on and on with no brakes which worries me. RE4/5 are all about segmented set pieces, that is why those games are so good. From room to room you are going to get something new to keep the gameplay fresh. I just saw Chris running and gunning for 10 minutes. There was the fall on the pipe where the partner had to help which is a good moment for co-op, boring as hell for single player.
Speaking of co-op I dont see a health bar for the partner so they seem to have removed having to worry about the partner dying which will solve many of the issues people had. Graphically some areas look amazing some not so much, so much screen tearing which I assume will be fixed for the final game. Anyway the game should not be how many enemies you can put on screen at a time, it needs to be carefully crafted enemy encounters.
I assume you know I am not really at E3. I am just going through videos.
Arma 3:
Sleeping Dogs looks awesome...Activision seriously didn't want to publish this? It looks like what GTA 5 should be!
Errr... my lady friend wants to see me AGAIN this weekend...
We've hung out in the city three times over the last two weeks.
She's given me an ipod touch (she made fun of me for having the old click wheel style when we first met)...
She KNOWS I like dudes, but this is getting to be kinda serious... Don't know what to do!
**Jeez. You stick your wang in a chick a few times, and they won't leave you the hell alone!**
Your choice is binary. If she is not for you, best to tamp it down soon so she doesn't get hurt. If you are not sure, then enjoy it and see where it takes you.
