Thanks Travo, I was kind of hoping you'd give me a little insight. I just need to know if this is another one of our state's mindless zero tolerance policies or if this was a teacher or guidance counselor trying to play hero in a situation that didn't call for it.
Wow Robio that is scary, glad that it seems to be resolved.
Yeah, from what I've heard the onus is on the teacher to report anything up the chain and then others make the call. It's like in management when an employee makes a claim about harassment or a safety issue, once you've heard it the choice to pass it along is not yours (or you are liable).
Maybe you can focus the anxiety you are feeling into controlling how you are going to deal with this with your child. You have to balance it out somehow and your kid's development provides a good reason for maintaining emotional discipline. I don't know how I'd keep it all inside of me so to protect the child from any un-intended blowback.
Ugh...man it must be tough having kids these days. I mean your barely allowed to dicipline your own children now, and if your kid likes to tell stories it can be even worse. Everything will work itself out man.
BTW thanks for the words, thoughts, and insights guys. It was a rough night but I'm feeling a little better today, though sadly my wife is still very shaken. We'll deal with what comes though, and yeah its probably already over. Certainly hope so anyway.

I hate that fucking let's ruin the life of thousands of families so that we might save one kid from abuse. So much for innocent until proven guilty, hey. Robio live your life as if nothing happened, easier said than done, but what else is there. Living your life in fear is no life at all.
I rather get fired a thousand times than ruin a families life for no reason. At least I would be able to look in a mirror afterwards.
In my life as a teacher the only time I reported anything to do with a student was when I discovered a student carrying a pair of handcuffs, a balaklava and a replica handgun in his school bag. He was the very quiet, introverted, often picked at and ridiculed kind of student. I thought he could have been a potential highschool shootout case in the making so I told an assistant principal to look further into it and talk to the kid's parents
