Well the Wii looked like a boring modem too....so this is a continuation of that.
In fact, I think if that's what the new Nintendo looks like, its disappointing that it looks so similar to the Wii. None of their other consoles looked alike. And what about the rumored Snes look?
Let's hope the pics are wrong. At least with the Wii it had the novelty of being so small (smaller than a NEOGEO cart) and it also had the dog-eared design thing going for it (right down to the cable connections).
This one that is in all the pics etc... looks horrible, less than horrible -- it looks boring. SO I hope they shock us all.
Isn't it just a dev kit?
Usually pre-release dev kits are just PC's. They don't go to the trouble of making cases etc...

Master Games for the Master Race:
One of the site's forefathers.
Your oversized images offend me.
More usefully:
"To celebrate the long, dangerous trek that both Syberia and Syberia 2 had to endure to arrive on Steam, both titles are 20 percent off until next Thursday, May 26 at 1PM ET. That's $8 a pop for these two adventure games from the early aughts."
Or $5 from GOG this weekend.
Fuck Steam.
Yikes.
Why damnit?
I think that picture is a couple of weeks old by now. From what we have heard that is the dev kit. But most people think the pics are fake anyway, based on the line schematics which are also suspect.
Cool pics Master.
I finished my first playthrough of The Witcher 2. It felt fairly short. I could have done more side quests but it's not an open world game, the main story should have been longer, especially since it rail roads you for a good chunk of the start and the end. It was a nice game but it's more of an action adventure with multiple dialogue choices here and there than a CRPG. There are loads of scripted sequences, mini games, stealth romps, and what not, like action games try to present variety, and combat is all about your twitch skills, outside preparing potions and tools like bombs and throwing daggers (Monster Hunter style but it doesn't feel as well developed and fun to do). Many of the skills you earn you should have had from the start instead, to make combat feel more varied and less unfair in the very beginning, and they should have found ways to present challenge without merely throwing armies of elite soldiers in small and cramped areas, which got super annoying. It also lacked polish in so many ways, from the controls to the presentation (as insane as it looks in stills, during gameplay there are issues) to the inventory to balance to plot. Anyway, nice game but not the Epic I was hoping for. I hope their patches, DLC and expansions fix a lot of these issues, not just bugs but also design. I wanted this to be my Game of the Forever, not just Year but I think I had more fun with Two Worlds II than this thing, with its open world and variety and, yes, polish (except the shitty final boss etc), despite being a B game through and through and having no choices & consequences. I'm pretty sure that, unlike the first game, it will be ported to consoles. It's obviously designed with such intentions, and it should still look nice, so more people here can play it too and decide for themselves, as long as publishers show interest, which they most likely will.

Sounds good, thanks for the impressions. I like action adventures more anyway so I guess I would enjoy this. I'm still waiting on what CDP are going to do regarding console ports of 1 and 2.
It sounds as though they changed it to make it more geared towards console gamers. It's a shame it's not as good as it could have been but maybe it will help them get a bigger payday

I like the intentions of most (well, QTEs and such shit suck and are plentiful so not that) of the changes (combat in the first game sucked anyway for example) just not all of their implementation and how limited the game itself is. The combat and other streamlining alone would be enough to attract action/console gamers there was no reason to limit every other design aspect like that but I guess their funds were limited. I still have to wonder what they hell they've been doing the last 3 years outside the visual assets though, there's not that much else. I'd hope the sequel reuses a lot of things like character models, textures and generic assets like walls, rocks, trees, etc, so they can focus on the world and gameplay design than new technology and art all over again, outside new locations and characters that have to look super unique at least.
The DLC and what not better not be stuff like go kill or barter with a big potentially dangerous thing for a super reward. Witcher is a freaking monster hunter, I want some elaborate hunting quests like the one in the intro of the first The Witcher with a lot of investigating (proper investigating, not just pressing x on everything you see and then choosing dialogue responses that basically give the solution away by themselves even if you weren't paying attention) and talking to people and trying to figure out how this thing came to be and what weaknesses and strengths it has and the right potions and tools for the otherwise impossible job etc. Make a single hunt nearly worthy of its own act, having the beast show up in town killing everything in sight including you before you figure out how to beat it, forcing you to mostly investigate in the day or rush from door to door at night before it spots you or while it's busy mutilating some random NPC etc. Not with stupid awkward cut scenes that waste their money and don't look that good anyway, and have all sorts of issues, just have it all in gameplay conditions, the sound of screaming NPCs and seeing them run to their homes would be enough of a hint. I also want to set elaborate traps properly, before the fight begins, choose my battlegrounds and lure it there etc.
Oh and enemies that seem to respawn suck. I'd rather have few super powerful foes that make it clear they're beyond my current state than have some annoying fight against dozens, wondering if they'll ever end, if I'm right to even try, and not knowing how well I did at all on my last try.

Order Up coming to 3DS - sequel coming too
Well this has made a fairly crappy week end on a good note. Order Up for the 3DS and for the Move, with additional content. Now what to do? Throw down for move or buy a 3DS? Still not quite holding my breath for the sequel, but it's a good sign all the same.
Square Enix Bringing Back Carmageddon Franchise
And regarding this, who the fuck is running Square-Enix these days? What kind of schmuck says "let's ignore formerly successful franchises that people might want to see like Chrono Trigger, Act Raiser, and the Illusion of Gaia series and instead let's bring back Carmageddon?" Hell if they want to make a racing game again, put out a 3-D version of Rad Racer on the 3DS. That's a franchise people might actually give a fuck about.
Because that'd be the Eidos side, not the Square Japan side.
Welp, MK can go fuck off with its online play.
Steel and I tried getting in, and because we have different versions of the same game, we can't play. Thanks a lot guys.
Yeah. Sorry. I kinda thought it was region locked.
Yeah, pretty fucked up stuff. Good thing I rented this shit instead of buying it. *shudders*
