Why on earth did you buy the expansion? I remember when XBL started I made sure to DL every extra content I could for all the games that offered it (So I could have the "complete" game). Of course, back then DLC was free (on teh original XB) -- remember those days?
All DLC should be free.
There should be no DLC. Games should come out complete.
Asshole publishers.
Well, I got the Sims 3 yesterday. It was more of a gift for my wife, who loves the series. I kind of play the games for a bit before I reach some sort of stupid requirement for my career progression, then I get bored and pissed. She says AI has improved a lot compared to the second game.
Other than that, I haven't exactly played anything seriously. After almost a month of not touching my home consoles, this weekend I plugged them on again and updated them. Last night I downloaded the 360 version of the Crysis 2 MP demo, which is kind of fun I guess, nothing to write home about. This afternoon I got back to FFXIII as well, since I really want to reach Grand Pulse. Unfortunately, the story is all kinds of stupid, which is par for the course for a FF game. I still remember the unbelievably bad impression FFX left in me with its imbecile start. Oh well, at the very least I'll get to enjoy the sights, with the trade off being the english VA of Vanille. Stupid bitch.
I mean the character, not the voice actress.
I don't dismiss DLC as inherantly evil. If the main game is a very full experience, like VC was, then it's all good. Unfortunately I misread or misunderstood the description of this add-on. I thought I was getting 6 more missions for $5. What I actually got was 1 (slightly longer than average) mission that included 6 characters. Not worth the money. Oh well, I'm older and wiser now.
Yeah, for those that marry their favorite games DLC can keep the spark alive. When it comes to games, I'm a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy.
I liked the first Sims quite a bit, it was fun from an architectual fantasy perspective. I never got into the career or family bullshit, I just wanted to amass money (or cheat) so I could build my virtual dollhouses. I don't think my computer was even capable of playing the Sims 2 when I got it -- and I still have the same computer.
I assume you got Sims3 on Steam Steelio?
Tell me when you have done this.
It's one of my favorite games to play on a big screen with bunker-blasting bass on.
I have both waiting for me!
He's British, what did you expect?
Nope. Retail, actually.
I mean, not DD.
Played loads more of Plants vs Zombies. In fact I completed every mode. All the mini-games, all the puzzle stages, all the survival challenges. Played through the adventure again ... found the yeti zombie. Pretty much ran out of things to do in this game so I'm quite ready for Darksiders.

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
Yeah, PvZ is a timesink, and it's really good value.
I played a bit of the Last remnant demo. What the FUCK did I just play? Battle system is cryptic and intimidating. I can't make heads or tails out of it. Game's pretty, though, and very well optimized. It looks nice and runs at a very stable FR even on my measly PC. It reminds me a bit too much of Lost Odyssey.
One of the guys on the 8-4 podcast was raving about Last Story. How it's fully voice acted and how that conversation continues through the battles (and how it turns the concept of JRPG on it's head.
I can't wait to get it (hopefully).

Mind blown, just found our Kirby's Epic Yam isn't out in Australia yet, doesn't come out until the end of feb -- WTF?
That makes me very happy. Y1 is only 12 hours, add 2 hours for Haruka Loyalty and another hour for hostess bars (both optional), but your Haruka meter will impact your game-plus options.
To give you an idea of how many Australians miss the entire concept of intellectual property here was an e-mail a friend passed onto me who works at the largest blue-chip software company in Australia. Think about that. This is someone WHO WORKS FOR A SOFTWARE COMPANY.
"Subject: Does anyone have their Wii mod-chipped.......
I have a Wii game called Call of Duty Black Ops which I brought from the USA. It doesn’t register on normal Wii’s, they need to be chipped. If anyone is interested in buying it please see me at Reception.
Cheers"
Is the Last Story going to be localized?
No-one really knows, at this point it has not been broached by Nintendo. Because it is fully voiced some wonder if any one would spend the money to localize it. The Wii market for RPGs in the west is pretty weak. They are still planning to bring over Xenoblade, which has some hopeful they will bring it over.
PSP2/NGP Price rumor.
On the latest 8-4 podcast (8-4 is a localization company that operates in Japan and is made up of mostly ex-EGM staff), Phil Koller, the man from Game Informer (fully owned by the largest specialized video game retailer in the world, GameStop) said the following:
When asked if he had "insider information" he said (paraphrasing), "No. Well, yes. Kind of."
So he probably knows something from his parten company, with whom Sony has no doubt had communication (considering their purchase power).
12 hours? Remember I do the side quests! Surely it'll be 20 hours +?
Yeah, what an idiot. It needs to be hacked, not chipped.
I think you'd be challenged to squeeze 15 hours from Y1, even with side missions. They are very limited compared to Y3.
