I wish Sony would trash their trophy system and rip off achievements, same with Nintendo. I have no real feeling of what my trophies are, or what they mean. And about half of the games I play don't even have them.
MS nailed that whole damn system perfectly.
Nothing makes me want to play a game more than "lile Metroid Prime Hunters"... god no.
EDIT: Its Sin and Punishment Kid Icuras edition, looks fine.
Your name is persistant. When playing Mario Kart DS, people see my name Bobovic and my emblem. They don't see my friendcode, which is another problem. They can't actually add you.
Hey now, Metroid Prime Hunters had an awesome multiplayer until the hackers ruined it.
Kid Icarus looks good, but it will feel bad though. The MPH control scheme destroys hands,
Well I guess that shows how much I use Nintendo's online system. Still I want a gamercard and an easy to use online structure like Microsoft's.
Yeah I guess $40 - $50 sounds right for 3DS games because here DS games usually cost $35 - $40 so if these 3DS games are markedly better, which they appear to be, then I guess it's not too bad.
Yeah trophies are nice but the achievement system is better.
Indeed, as in the GAF thread about the news, many people who bash Nintendo's system seem to not even know how it works. There are plenty legitimate issues but most people seem to bash them for things that aren't even true, like the name display thing, or other people who believe you can't even play online with randoms, only with friends, etc. It was pretty funny, and kind of a revelation, to read through that hread.
The system wide one time friend code seems to solve pretty much any and all issues the ID system had, as long as they actually allow you to invite people in-game. I suspect they may not go that far, but it's not a huge issue for me. I don't tend to add strangers just because we had some fun in a random match, but instead people I at least know online outside gaming, so whether I share a number, a username or an e-mail makes no difference to me.
Another issue was the inability to see if your friends are actually online without firing up a game. You seem to be able to do that on 3DS, and even message them (at least e-mail them like on Wii, did anyone mention instant messaging or voice chat functions? I suspect that even if those aren't available out of the box, they can be added later, perhaps even video chat with the camera), so you could set up what game to play rather than first put the cartridge in, fire up the game, and then see if any friend happens to be online playing that game, as on Wii.
Although, with so many console games having crappy matchmaking lobbies etc, that's not much of a benefit. All online games should allow drop-in/out multiplayer, especially FPS... I don't care if I'll have 0 points when everyone else has 50000000 if I join mid-match, I just wanna play with those people, and we'll be equal in the next round anyway, derp. As long as there are player slots available of course. Not to mention it would eliminate waiting time as the matchmaking could drop you in any ongoing match rather than wait to find people who happen to want to start a game at the same time as you. This is one of the reasons I love dedicated servers on PC, they run 24/7 and as long as there are slots you join and play with the communities that form around them, or just randomly. No waiting to find more people who want to start playing at that exact moment, no host migrations, no whatever.

It's not as bad as people say, but it is the worst online platform of the three consoles. It has no reason to be either, Nintendo is saavy in this arena on the hardware side, even in their channels and with the stores. It's just the multiplayer interactions they suck at.
Also, I've put about 10 hours in Okami and it is awesome.

Talked to Mrs. Aspro about it. Since there are no games at launch we want we'll wait for a game we want and pick up a 3DS then.

OMG MAJOR NEWS!!!!
"Deus Ex: Human Revolution producer David Anfossi has reportedly told PC Gamer that there will be three difficulty levels in the game."
HOLY SHIT!!!! Three difficulty levels? That's insane! No one has done that before! THREE!
Kinda feel sorry for the people getting the PS3 DCUO - the game requires 25GB FREE ON YOUR HDD. I mean, WOW. Sure, it's an MMO...but good god.
Also..3DS stuff...still debating if I want. Might get it for the show (so I can provide awesome content!), but it'll be a hard swallow.
Otherwise, Little Big Planet 2 is neat. Vader, we needs to play. You too Leo & Foolz.
Yes we do, I am going to sleep now, you can usually find me on a few hours before til this time.
They are a trophy, you collect them in a virtual trophy case. They have different levels of quality, gold, silver, etc. What are points, that means nothing. What does 4000 points even mean. At least if I have 40 trophies you know I completed 40 achievements, a score of whatever tells me nothing.
It mostly a presentation problem. I have no idea how many trophies I have, every time I go look for them there is this weird synch thing that happens. I don;t know how to review them...
Maybe I'm just more familiar with the way MS does it, but their interface for it is very clear -- and my friends can go in and see my achievements, it's not just a number.
^
Let's be honest. Both trophies and acheivements are completely pointless, and their only tangible effect is that they are intrusive. Ding my arse.
For sure, but I probably won't get it for a long time.
It's kinda rare these days to see a game without some stupid dynamic difficulty setting in it, though.
