This is a smart move -- the old buy low, sell high.  Harmonix is a great company and all, but I think they have peaked.  Viacom didn't get to be a huge, evil media conglomerate by making dumb moves.

An MMO is no easy feat. Especially if you're aiming for the big bucks. Development costs must probably be in the hundreds of millions. That's no chump change, and very, very few studios/pubs have the pockets to accomplish something like that.

The more I play the game, the more I am seeing the similarities and re-imaginings of familiar concepts.

I must admit this first: I never even liked --ANY-- FPS until I played GoldenEye. At the time it was released, the analog controls, the specific animations when targeting certain body parts --ALL-- of that was revolutionary and brand new. It was unlike anything I had played before. The Multiplayer, of course, was also unprecedented. It was THE game to get 3 of your closest buds to bring over their N64 controls, gather around the TV and play until the wee hours of the morning. You all know how quickly I go through and get disinterested in games. I kept GodenEye for years and years!

Although I was in love with the mechanics of the game and the multiplayer aspects, for some strange reason, I seemed (then and now) to have a mental block about certain areas and the order of the game. I always, always, always forget about the sequence on top of the Dam and everything you do before you bungie jump.

I always seem to remember sneaking through the air ducts and shooting the guard in the toilet as one of THE first things you did in the game, and obviously it's NOT!

I just got to that section of the game and everything clicked. Nostalgia instantly flooded back.

If you noticed, I never said the new Wii version was a BAD game. I just said it didn't feel like the N64 version. You know what? It STILL doesn't feel like it. There was a weightiness and deliberate pacing to the original that is NOT in this version. It almost feels too quick and floaty. Maybe its the Pointer aspects and the Nunchuk? Don't know. That's not to say its a bad game. It's not. It IS the best FPS on the Wii at the moment. I commend what Eurocom did here. Bearing that Activision logo on the game, though, draws inevitable comparisons to CoD, and I don't think that's too far off base!

Part of my initial reactions was a backlash to it not feeling immediately like MY GoldenEye, but I think I will appreciate it more as I play further into it.

Its only the biggest one day money maker in entertainment history. Yeah no big deal...

It is a big deal, its huge, its bigger than movies, books, music, this shows how big gaming has gotten.
