That's not good enough, I'm afraid. I demand reparations, dear gentleman, reparations. Preferably in the form of a thorough ball massage with scented oils.
Oh no. Hell no. You're not getting away so easy. You already dragged that eggmeister dude into your vortex of madness. Stand your ground, man. Stand your ground.
I can't, though.
Well if it means anything, I respect your opinion more than this one....
Steel at least you can still try and change your mind, but this Hamster is batshit crazy. Crazy I tell you. Red Steel 2 with dual analog how the heck would that work?
Racers agreed
Action games, depends if there is shooting in it, but DMC like game agreed
RPGs, well most of them use menus, so it possible. So is a Diablo like clone
Platformers, SMG, uses IR, so does Icarian. So IR can make platformers better.
FF13 - PS3 version $20 at amazon.com today (USD).
360 version $30.
I don't really think it's dead so to speak. I was at a Halloween party this weekend there were no shortages of people to play it. There's just no incentive to buy new versions. Why pay $50 for a game when you might only like at best half the songs on it, when instead you can pick and choose song packs for like $3 to $5 a bundle? Micro transactions have just eliminated the need for any further installments.
If I were MTV Games or Activision I'd just one make one version at the start of every generation and then just keep a steady stream of DLC going for the lifespan on the game.
He can't respect your decision because all you do is run into a room, fire your shotgun in the air and fart, loudly.
Reading some Goldeneye reviews, I'm pretty amazed at how many reviewers are using the classic controller to play. For instance:
"About the only controller you can't use with GoldenEye 007 is one made by Sony or Microsoft. We preferred the feel of the Classic Controller, especially the Pro version, because it felt right with the shooting controls we're accustomed to from other FPS titles. "
This is painful to read. All these IR virgins sticking to old controls. Even a lot of people in the GAF thread are doing it, despite the game supposedly having better controls than the Conduit. All you need to do with IR is spend 20-30 minutes customising the controls and you are set.
If you had a racing game where you could shoot, IR would add accurate and responsive controls for the shooting aspect, same for Platformers like Mario Galaxy where you use IR for blowing yourself in a bubble about or picking up stars or using gravity to pull yourself about. Action games and RPGs, any game that allows you to shoot, whether it be machine gun or Elven arrow will play better with IR. Any RPG that uses lots of menus would be better with IR, more intuitive, simpler etc.
It sort of counts. It was the first, first person game to get the IR controls right. But it has been improved by subsequent devs and metroid is not a FPS design though.
IR and Wii shooters evolution goes like this, from my perspective anyhow:
Red Steel comes out and it's your first experience with IR controls - you can get used to it, I liked it at the time but in reflection it's pretty horrible compared to modern controls.
COD3 came out at the same time as Red Steel and had much better controls, the ADS was too slow to drag about though. The movement controls were fine.
Metroid Prime 3 comes out and nails the controls, its smooth as butter and feels really natural. It's not a FPS so using lock on and rotating around enemies is your strategy most of the time.
Medal of Honor Heroes 2 came out and gave a huge shot in the arm for innovative controls. IMHO considering the extra things they did, this is the best controlling FPS I have ever played. It was pre-Conduit and allowed all sorts of user customisation. But other than that it also had analogue lean with the nunchuk, a truly fantastic addition to any shooter, which allowed you to instinctively and accurately pop out of cover in milimetre increments and I hear it is something Eurocom copied for GE. It also used IR to zoom, you could rotate the controller and hit the C button to lock and unlock the zoom. It sounds horrible, but it worked brilliantly. The game also has the best ADS mode I have played with a steady, solid, accurrate and fast system.
Conduit came out and had the steadiest and most flowing movement controls. The ADS was very good for scoped weapons, in general there are no complaints here, very good but I put MOHH2 above it because of the other features.
Next up, COD WaW, movement was very tight and responsive, ADS is slow though, almost laggy but satisfying to use nonetheless.
COD REFLEX perfected the controls, with a useful camera lock in ADS and fine movement and ADS controls. You have to customise, but it works great once you get the hang of it. It's not as instantly accesible as Conduits default controls, but with tweaking you can get it feeling really nice.
Red Steel 2, set your control to precise mode in the options and you are basically set. It has such a smooth cursor and a very subtle auto aim, it feels completely natural and works really well. Of course the game doesn't put you under the same sorts of pressure you would be in a proper FPS, so it remains to be seen how well the controls would work for you if it did have things like ADS or a cover system.
And now Goldeneye has topped Conduit and includes the lean feature from MOHH2, so it should feel really good to play.
Of course this is just talking about controls, the actual games like Conduit, Red Steel 1 etc are not so hot. MOHH2 has great controls but going back to play it last weeek, it has old PS2 level design.
Anyhow, Black Ops Wii should be great, as you can see the progression Treyarch have made from COD3, through to WaW and then REFLEX. With Black ops Wii being built from the ground up, this could be a worthy purchase.
This is a great analysis here and it's annoying how many so-called professional reviewers are writing about Wii-FPSs without having a clue. VGPress is so educational it hurts sometimes. Personally I experienced just a few of these games because I dislike the inherently repetitive gameplay found in the design of most FPS games (regardless of platform), but if I had a passion for them like GG it would pain me greatly to see so much ignorance among reviewers and much of the gaming population

Listen to Wu-Tang and watch Kung-Fu
You are not helping the cause.
I played Red Steel 2 on normal aiming, precise was too sensitive for a game that does not need to be sensitive. Normal felt just like MP3.
Stop making sense! >_<
Tell you what. I'm going to rent GoldenEye when it comes out here. If I dislike it, I'll fly myself to London to dislocate your anus.
It's not that long. I spend more than that customizing the appearance of my RPG characters.
THQ: uDraw is not a fad
I've already bought-in. I think it's a great idea. I'm getting it for my kids. They'll love it, and I'm sure I'll enjoy playing with it from time to time too. One game for it in particular, Dood's Big Adventure, is essentially Max and the Magic Marker except the drawing will be much easier to do. Definitely want to check that out.
I think GG is crazy I never spent that much time setting up IR.
I might get udraw when it's super cheap. It should be possible to use the tablet on a PC as well since so far pretty much all peripherals connecting to the Wii remote, like the classic controller, have been adapted for PC use as well, since it all connects via bluetooth. It might make for a nice cheap tablet.

As a party game it will remain something you'll see for years to come, but in terms of relative new sales, we agree there is no incentive to keep buying it. I buy them every couple of years just to justify my original investment in the guitars for GH2, and the way Activision does it is insane. If I wanted to play a specific game I'd have to hunt down what disc it is on. I think I'll end up writing a review of GH5 later this week when I finish the career mode.
I'd tool around with it. I've always liked using those Magna-Doodle things, I figure it would be like that, and if I had to entertain children -- no question I;d buy it. THQ published the Scribblenauts games right? There's your killer ap.
