He is wrong about the proponents of this case being "liberal" since it was brought from the Republican government of California, but he is correct in that this form of speech is protected, even when the only limitations being sought is exposure to minors (no commercial game has been pornographic in any form since perhaps the 3DO).

^Very well. It's a fast read to get caught back up to speed.  In case you are intrigued by the Astroboy remake that was drawn by the same artist as Monster, give it a miss.  It goes down hill very very fast.

I read this earlier, and other than the conclusion -- that videogames ought to be protected speech -- he's got pretty much everything else wrong, so I don't particularly care.  The government tells you that you can't eat trans fats for the same reason it doesn't allow food to be canned in led containers, and that's to protect you and only allow what's suitable for human consumption to be labeled as food.  Just as you can't drive a car that will explode it rear-ended.  This are necessary services, and equating it to restriction of free speech is asinine.

Red Steel 2 is getting a lot better. I love the controls, even though it isnt like some sword simulator and you are still doing pre determined slashes it's just fun to swing your hand around like a sword. And the mix of gun play with sword combat is an awesome idea. That said the game has the pacing of an adventure game without any of adventure game elements. Half the time I am walking around empty areas with the occasional hidden token or sherrif thing. If this game had NPCs, if the towns were lively and there were lots of side quests and mini games then I can understand why its a slow paced with action elements. But if you are just going to leave the world mostly empty, then make it an all out action game. There should be setpiece after setpiece of awesome fights. Instead most of the time you fight the same 5 grunts and move on with a nice setpiece sprinkled in.

When the action does get interesting the game is great. The one major boss battle I had was fun. New enemies are starting to use more moves. So much potential in this game.

Hell yes, I want to play a Bethesda game with these controls. There is barely any story in RS2 either.

I've been playing Anno Wii for 9 hrs. I had to put a wrist support on. Game is addictive as hell and getting more interesting. The game has this perfectly judged difficulty curve, first I was planning my own towns, now I am fixing ones my bastard brother made.

Too similar to the previous one. However, technical aspects, at least from my perspective, are not what Fable is about. Fable II was all about flair, style and atmosphere, I'm pretty sure the third one will deliver that too in spades.

I just bought a Gameboy Player (for GameCube) today. I've been wanting one for a while now, but Ebay wanted too much (usually $20+ with shipping). However, I my local Gamestop had one for a very reasonable $10 today. I have several GBA games that I haven't been able to play since my DS Lite died nearly two-and-a-half years ago. I tried out all of my games: Yoshi's Island, Super Mario World, Metroid Zero Mission, F-Zero GP Legend, and Super Gunstar Heroes, and I'm happy to say they all work great with it. The previous owner took really good care of it since the unit, manual and disk are all in excellent condition. I am quite pleased with this purchase. Hmm, I can finally play those Super Mario Land games now!
